Hey guys, i work at an aston martin and lotus dealership. Our head aston salesman was sent some photos of an aston because he wanted them identified. Unfortunately, he was unable to tell what car it was. Its obviously no a vanquish, DB7, or DB7 GT. If you guys could shed any light as to what it is, it would be most appreciated. We think it might be the new DB9 thats coming out within the next year or so.

I'm with Cobraking - it looks very much like the publicity shots of the AML "V8" due out next summer - supposedly pitched right up against the 911. :D

Yeah, the only reason we didnt think it was is 1 the wheelbase is a little long, and 2 we were told that there wasnt going to be a cabriolet version.

Its marking tape. You will see a white version of it on cars that are being imported. The first shots of evo 8s on ebay had white tape all over them in certain places.

Hmm... Given that it's a drop-top, it could well be the new DB. The DB7 is due for the axe fairly soon I believe...

Some concept - or rolling concept at least - cars have bits gaffa-taped onto them as it saves screwing it on. They occasionally have badges and tell-tale design cues covered up too, so that spies can't tell what manufacturer/model the car will be. Strange but true.

Key question - what the hell is it doing on an American road when it's built in Newport Pagnell? If it's a rolling concept it should be hanging around the midlands somewhere... No doubt this is Ford's doing...

I believe the basic platform of the AMV8 is to be used in the Jaguar XKR replacement and the new DB too...

Fair point - Michigan tags so maybe they built the concept in Detroit? Michigan climate and terrain is similar to England's so there's no sense for them to import it to do weather testing.

It's the prototype of the AM DB9, successor of the DB7, should be presented somewhere between the end of this year and the end of 2004. It was in a magazine over here about a month ago.
