What is this penalty for!? Replay shows no contact!!!

had you served the 3 seconds before that corner you wouldn't have been there. The rest is just punishment for not serving the time.
I also learnt this lesson on Interlagos this weekend...

As posted elsewhere:

"the last corner of lap 2, I cut the corner of the curbstones as always, but this time (with another car just behind me) I cut slightly too much and get a time penalty - 5.7 seconds :banghead:. I carry on thinking about how to maintain my position and clear the penalty and then I cross the start line and it's 6.7 seconds, I reach T1 and it's 7.7 seconds! So, distracted by the timer and thinking where to park to serve the time penalty, I just miss my braking point and hit a car who was already passing through the turn (luckily it was only a small bump and he continued ok) but my time penalty is now 17.7 seconds :banghead::banghead:. So I stop and serve the penalty, in which time I drop to last. So, from dreams of a 6th place finish to last within half a lap ."

First penalty is for hitting the blue car, he is in front has the right of way. 3 seconds.

Next one is for pushing the car of track that went wide and tried to avoid a penalty for leaving track, had you served the 3 seconds before that corner you wouldn't have been there. The rest is just punishment for not serving the time.

The other car is clearly still braking way after straighting up to avoid going off-track. So it isn't 'tried to avoid a penalty for leaving track' The other car is trying to get rid of a penalty inbetween Turn 1 and Turn 2.

Getting rid of penalties on the track only causes more incidents, thanks Polpyhony.

The other car unexpectedly went to a standstill (or almost a standstill) very close to the racing line, because the other driver was trying to get rid of a penalty. This is because of Polyphony being stupid and thinking it is sensible to force players to stop on track during a race. The fact that you are blaming the car behind is preposterous.

Yeah, rewatched it, i think you are right.. he should get a penalty for serving his time in an unsafe place!

Happy Racing!

If someone drives aggressively but fairly, then what's the issue?
The issue is only the penalty. One could just give away -SB without a time penalty. This would work much better I think so the SB levels are created more equally between fair and unfair and agressive and non-agressive.

The second incident was a car serving a penalty. I know this because I yelled at him in a psn message and that's what he said.

I do agree I can be a bit aggressive, but not everything I did was aggressive. The only thing I did aggressive IMO was the first incident, (which i would like the record to state I've done a million times before, and never had anything bad happen until the incident in question).

I've got a friend who up til recently had a similar DR to me. He tends to qualify really well, but he is so passive that he often finishes much worse than he qualified. I tend to be the opposite, and qualify poorly but finish well. I attribute this to being aggressive (but clean) and smooth (I don't go off or crash much. The video in question is a strong outlier, which is why I wanted discussion on it)

When my friend and I had a similar DR there were numerous cases where he would qualify like 5th while I started 12th. By the end of the race, I would finish around where he started and he would finish where I started.

I can be aggressive, but I get results, and as my Sr shows, I do it with the utmost respect.

But you are DR A now aren't you?

0:23, contact with that Evo and radar showed he went off the track, probably what the penalty was for.

I've been playing more iRacing lately and it doesn't do **** like this, PD needs to fix this over sensitive penalty system.

But respect for stopping away from the racing line and not let your frustration boil over to the rest of the field..

Happy racing!
Got to be trolling!
