Powerade ?

Or

Gatorade ?

I prefer gatorade myself, I'm not sure what the differences are, or if there are even more ades out there hiding from me, but I just have always known gatorade to be better after working outside, or playing outside, or just sitting around playing games.

How about you?

(EDIT)

Or don't vote and list why you hate the ades.

What in the hell ARE "powerade" and "gatorade", other than those big waterbutts that get thrown over American Football coaches when they win?

Lemonade is a fizzy drink made from lemons.
Orangeade is a fizzy drink made from oranges.
Cherryade is a fizzy drink made from cherries.
Is Gatorade a fizzy drink made from alligators?

Famine

Is Gatorade a fizzy drink made from alligators?

Yes.

Actually there is a commercial over here for gatorade that explains where the name comes from. Your explanation is better though.

I like powerade better myself. Then again, whatever is on sale at that time is what I pick up.

Just hate all those sport drinks, they taste like crap. Too chemically and unnatural.

I want a gren-ade to throw at PE teachers.

Did you know I have the same IQ as 160 PE teachers?

Lol, I'll take your question seriously Famine. Gatorade and Powerade are sports drinks, they are very water-ee and keep you from being dehydrated (i cant spell) while you sweat, thats why over here we have commercials that have people sweating orange sweat, or blue, or etc.

If I have to choose an ade then I think Mike's Hard Lemonade.

However, I prefer a good Bass Ale any day.

Lemonade all the way.

Is there such thing as Appleade? Because Apple Juice is my best drink ever. :D

i always thought it was "old people hair gel"^
if i have the choice then i take gatorade, but generally i don't like the stuff. the stuff usually gives me a headache because i buy it when im really thirsty and i just guzzle the stuff.
so....whatever is cheapest at the time.
speaking of drinks, who HATES fanta?
I sure do! before it was for sale in the U.S. (like everywhere) it was availiable in atleast mexico, and the stuff was like pure liquid goodness, now we get re-badged plain orange, strawberry, grape, and maybe something else soda.

buahaha fizzy drink.....<8- P

I had Fanta way back, in Colombia, like 5 or 6 years ago. Twas delicious. I had some of the US market Fanta recently. It was crap.

And on this: Lemonade. I'm talking REAL lemonade for the European (or at least British) folk, not some carbonated crap.

Wait, ughh... Carbonated fruit juices? What are you guys thinking, across the pond?

I think Powerade and Gatorade are both great. I usually buy Powerade though, so I voted for it. During basketball games, those drinks really re-energize. It's always a lot better than when I have just water. They taste great too.

I need that green. My hocus-pocus focus-juice. Surge, of course.

Lol. But seriously...it's called Gatorade because it was invented by a professor at the University of Florida, whose mascot is the Gator. The Kansas City Cheifs were the first NFL team to drink it, rather than water, and they were all drastically better hydrated because of it. I think gatorade sucks now, though. It's too sweet and needs to be diluted.

edit: Actually...I could go for some Aranciata or Limonata. I miss europe and their citrus sodas that don't taste fake and horrible like sugarfied garbage.

Gatorade is nothing but sugar water and salt – you could easily make it yourself at home if you wanted too. In fact, if you can get the salt to dissolve, adding salt to orange juice is a far better alternative (you'll get the electrolytes – sodium and potassium – and a kick of vitamin C).

Powerade is a bit more useful (than Gatorade), since it contains several B-vitamins that do stuff in regards to energy metabolism.

Regardless, I do not understand at all why non-athletes drink either one – if you're not exercising vigorously and/or you're not sweating to death, then chances are you don't need to replenish your electrolytes, and are probably making your system worse off than if you just drank water. It just amazes me how many people drink them for the taste, without realizing the biomechanics behind them.

Would doing the "beep test" at school qualify?

Well, with the way I sweat, I'm quite sure I need something else then just water.

Swift – I see your point, but just keep in mind that the average American eats way more sodium than he or she should, so that right there is probably enough to make sure you don't get water intoxication (and eat a banana or something else high in potassium, and you're set to go – as a nice side-effect, potassium neutralizes some of the bad effects that excessive sodium can cause, such as high blood pressure).

PS – "beep test"?

The beep test is a common PE torture test at my school.

You get in a gym, that's at least 25m in a particular direction, and a beep goes off. You run to the other side. If you don't make it to the other side before it beeps again, you're out. Then, it beeps again and you have to run back before the last beep.

This happens 3 times. Then the duration between each beep shortens. You run that shorter beep 3 times, and then it shortens again.

Every 3 runs (3 there, 3 back) = 1 level. I got to about 7, and the xcountry kids get to about 9-10, and one guy I know hit 12. You get pretty sweaty.

I play a lot of basketball, but I usually prefer water. When I actually do buy one of those sports drinks though, I always get the gatorade. Gatorade Lime or one of those Gatorade Propel. Propel's the best. I love the peach flavor! 👍

P.S. I loved Fanta then, I love the U.S. Fanta(Orange) now. It's been so long, I can't tell how the Japanese Fanta from 70's - 80's tasted different than the current U.S. one.

I always thought Fanata was like Puerto Rican, or Brazilian. The commercials always had some latinas dancing around going "Wanna? Wanna wanna, Fanta?". Or at least that's what it seemd like.

It could be. Two members who started talking about Fanta mentioned Colombia and Mexico........ I think I need one now. *runs to the fridge*

i always thought it was "palmade"

I always thought 'palm-aid' was a similar concept to 'Mrs Palm and her 5 lovely daughters', 'shaking hands with the unemployed' or 'Making love to oneself' :sly:

Lagerade is my fav 👍
