I'm gonna grab some Superior 70 from Walgreens tomorrow. See what this whole Bay Rum deal is about. Can't wait to smell like a puerto rican.

All the way.

Though I also buy this, mainly cause it reminds me of the Monolith. Slightly cheaper too.

Finally got the superior 70. This stuff is great on your face after a shave. I smell like an 18th century naval commander.

You are the only guy I've known this fixated on products to enhance appearance and smell. Must be a Florida thing.

I wear Jean Paul Gautier and Calvin Klein Euphoria, and Calvin Klein Intense Euphoria, though not at the same time.

There is just something great about putting some on before heading off out. Makes me feel so purty, and smell damn good as well :)

for whatever reason my missus loves this cheapo stuff on me so its what i wear mainly when going out.

Haters gonna hate. I appreciate flavors and smells-- they are, in fact, some of my favorite things about our world. My curiosity of Bay Rum and Brylcreem is due to their classical popularity. I wanted to experience why certain things were so popular. Bay Rum is easy, because it smells much better than scurvy pirate armpits.

If I had money to waste, I would have a whole arsenal of colognes.

The whole point was to smell like a champ for 6 bucks. For a few bucks I got enough of that stuff to last me like 10 years. Same thing with my stock of Vitalis.

also, picture:

Would rather spend money on shoes and jeans and coats. And various frames for various outfits. I may just not care as much because I tend to get complimented (not making this up) on how I smell fairly often, and I just wear Old Spice deodorant. So never felt much need for cologne.

Hair products I do use sometimes, but god damn they are a hassle.

Do you get a lot of people sniffing your armpits? I don't know how they could smell deodorant otherwise.

The interesting thing to me about cologne is that you can change up smells and have different ones for different occasions/seasons/etc.

My Matterhorn stick wafts upwards when applied. Usually it winds up in my shirts or wears off after being on all day. The new off-white sticks are a lot more fragrant than the old scents though.

No. And the smell isn't just the Old Spice, I apparently just smell good according to various girls I've dated and even just platonic ones. The Old Spice does have a bit of a smell to it you can notice, but it isn't like obvious.

I'm just that awesome I guess, that even my natural body odor is awesome. :sly:

You probably smell like korean food. They like that fermented stuff.

Must be the Old Spice then. I get compliments on my scent all the time but its only Old Spice body wash and deodorant. Swagger ftw. Even when I'm all sweaty in the summer I still smell good. Is it weird that I occasionally sniff myself to see what I smell like? I actually like my sweaty smell, and a couple girls have actually complemented it. Sure doesn't feel like I smell good though.

Nevertheless, I did actually get the first bottle of cologne I've bought myself recently, some Kenneth Cole stuff that was half off at Marshall's. It smells great. It's a light scent so I don't smell like some yuppie, but its just enough to stand out a bit when you're dressed up, out with friends or whatever. Plus, it makes my room smell great, instead of pizza.

My cousin is the main one of my friends that's into dressing up and getting pretty. He's like a quasi-guido. He's got an arsenal of colognes, all hip expensive stuff, designer shirts that his mom buys because he can't afford them, etc. He keeps telling me to stop buying clothes like I have been lately. I'm like dude, I'm just trying to look good. His selection of dress shirts is as big as my whole closet!

So, guys, what is the manliest fragrance? I'm running out of my normal knockoff spray, so I need to get something else. I think it's some bootleg Drakkar Noir. I also have two really old Hugo Boss things; one is orangey and one is cedary. I also just got some of that new Old Spice Matterhorn deodorant and it smells awesome. You can smell it as if it were a cologne when applied.

But, yeah, I need something new and ultra rugged like Sam Elliott. I tried opening some stuff at target but they have boxes that won't let you take out the bottle unless you destroy the packaging.

edit: Yes, I did just revive a thread that's nearly a decade old.

Omnis, if it's not too late, I've got some recommendations on a manly cologne.
If you're willing to spend $20--$35 on a cologne, these two definitely pass the test:

Rive Gauche Pour Homme/Yves Saint Laurent/2003 (My favorite, by just a bit)

Azzaro Pour Homme/Azzaro/1978

Both of these are really excellent, "throwback" colognes with class.
They don't smell powdery or feminine like a lot of modern "male" fragrances either.
They'll both make you smell like a man, and you can get them for under $35 on eBay.
That's a lot cheaper than most designer fragrances. I found the Azzaro at a local TJMaxx for $19.
The Rive Gauche you'll probably have to get off eBay or another online retailer.

EDIT: basenotes is a good forum for cologne/grooming advice.

I'm currently using 'Made for Men' by Bruno Banani.
Stupid name, but it smells good (girls dig it, as far as my experience goes, or at least my girl does) and it's not overly expensive.

I'm using the deodorant from the 'Made for Men' line of products as well.

I recently ran out of my favourite after shave, Old Spice so my wife was nice enough to buy me some Tommy Hilfiger which is quite nice.

Don't wear cologne, rarely wear deodorant. Don't believe in smelling like anything. When it comes to food, smells can be good. When it comes to people, the best smell is no smell.

About 15 years ago I used to wear old spice deodorant and had a girlfriend who became addicted to it. When I need deodorant (ie: if I'm going to sweat), I use old spice. Otherwise I go with nothing. I get no complaints from the wife.

She also never uses perfume, btw, and I don't mind that one bit.

Whatever's within 2 feet of me, and I only use any cologne/spray when my clothes smell a little weird. Deodorant a little cause I sweat. Don't really care for smelling like that stuff, plus like Danoff said, some smells are good on their own.
