I can't imagine that there would be that many "cheaters," but it is possible. I figured 64 would at least blanket the good "clean" drivers, and they could dominate the "cheaters" when hopefully no more "exploits" would be allowed in round 3.
I am fine with two wheels or one wheel, but 2 wheels seems easier to define intent. I think any hit of a wall should be disallowed, too much interpretation would be involved if trying to classify a wall hit.
Agreed, and I only pointed it out for clarification. I believe F1 just stipulates that one tire be in contact with the racing surface at all times, or something to that effect.
The wall-hit thing *should be* easy enough to fix, too - I ran a 1-make event in the practice area using only the '69 GT-40, and had the damage cranked up to its highest sensitivity. Everything went great, UNTIL the last lap, where I got the second chicane a bit wrong, went wide on exit, and smacked the wall a decent clout. Boom - the car was basically done. I couldn't really tell if I cut a tire or bent a suspension arm, but the car was all but undrivable after that, pulling hard to the left, then snapping to the right, etc.
I've no doubt that GT Academy could have the same kind of damage model working. Wanna play with the walls and try to romance them a bit? Fine, but you'll most likely get bit in the arse for your trouble!
As far as the driving options, ABS is almost required with the current braking setup with both controller and most wheels. Hopefully with an update, ABS can be less necessary. As far as TCS, I think almost all on here would agree that you will not achieve a top time with that on. I would also classify driving line as something less than optimal.
Agreed. I tend to run my default settings with ABS = 1, and while I find the driving line helpful, I've yet to see one appear in front of my car in real life!
I am not surprised that the vote is 16-2 for "exploits" being punished. Take note GT Academy, you can't run a competition without rules or governing of the rules. Please do what is right. If this problem isn't dealt with, the drivers representing Nissan and GT5 in the finals might be far from capable.
My feeling at this point is that PD should pretty much do a full "reset" of Round 2, and start it over from scratch, allowing the same amount of time that it was originally supposed to have, and making damn sure that ALL the "cheats" are addressed and dealt with. They don't have to ban or DQ anyone, technically, because they're in effect saying that the entire round never happened.
While that would suck for the clean racers out there (I'm not in this round, so I say this as someone without a dog in this fight), I think they'd rather have a chance to let their talents speak for them in a CLEAN event, instead of being pitted against a field full of cheaters and scammers.
Good luck to all in GT Academy, and let's hope PD get this fixed, and quick!
