What should I do with ....

I have my old computer stored somewhere, the reason I stored it is that whenever I turned it on. The screen would stay Black.

I'm hoping, I can fix it somehow. I was thinking of using my Windows XP Reformat disks, on it. But my current computer( the one that the disks are for) is a VAIO, where'as my old computer is a Compaq. Will it work?

XP is a Operating System, I don't think a software fix will help a hardware problem such as yours.

Get it checked out by someone who specialises in monitors, find out if it's dead or if it's your computer.
