This is a comprehensive list of companies that build some really cool cars that should have been put into the game. I have been playing video games for 31 years and this game for the last ten or so. I have every right to complain about a product that I pay for and this website provides a forum to do that.
I eagerly bought Prologue years ago and was fairly disappointed especially with the online game play. I purchased GT5 about a year ago but havent really played it until about 4 weeks ago and have now gotten to the point where I will not be buying another game unless certain things are fixed.
1. Clearly Kaz is not the best person to be doing the next game and has been bought out buy the Japanese car companies. I felt like this game was a marketing tool for the Japanese companies. 40 GTR cars is 30 more than the game should have and so on with all the Mazda and Honda cars as well waaaay too many of the same car.
2. The graphics are sub-par and feels like GT4 in many ways with prettier colors and slightly more polygons. 7 years to make this game is like waiting for the next Tool CD. I will be 45 in 7 years and wont care about this game when the next one is release unless PD hires me as the project manager for the series. Then we will get a real publisher involved and make the game in 2 years. Its just cars for FK sake it's not the next Doom game where the graphics are going to push systems from all over the world when it comes out.
3. The game has cars that don't exist in real life in the game that were created by PD and they should not be there WHAT-SO-EVER!! There are waaay too many cars that are "real" that are not in the game and the fake ones happen to be the best ones by far. That is crap imo!!
4. The DLC that was just released with the test track should have been put into the game for free as an update we should not have had to pay for that at all. WTF were they thinking making people pay for that when all around the world that is how cars are judged and sold to us.
5. The used car lot is crap and needs to have every car there for you to see and not have to wait a year of your REAL life just to wait to something that your never going to get. Yes I know about trading cars that is not the solution.
6. The game GUI is entirely too dark and not set up in a way that makes sense, it's like sifting through the ESPN home page. Waaaay too much stuff and the icons need work.
7. The car wash and oil change part of the game as well as the engine repair and body repair need to be consolidated into one thing and that can happen in the background. Just show me the final car and don't make the page loads take soooo looong.
8. The music in the game is horrible ALL OF IT. Yes I realize you can use your own and I find that about as lazy as going to a restaurant and having to peel my own prawns or leaving the fish on the bone. There is plenty of good music AKA Fallout series they could have used for free or really cheap.
9. The track editor is crap!!! You are not building your OWN tracks at all. You are making something with predetermined parameters and have ZERO ability to EDIT anything. You can't even build a simple straight line track to test your cars on. I remember Unreal Tournament editor on PC and playing some killer layouts that actually got put into Unreal 3 that were fan made.
10. The game play is the same every track you start out in last place or 7th and you have to race to finish to first and all the cars ahead of your car are ALWAYS much better so you have to upgrade your car, kinda lame. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit required you to actually understand the track and it was your skill at playing video games that got you first place not all the upgrades.
11. After you "finish" the game you should be able to set races up with the computer and let the computer race cars you own in your garage with upgrades, that would be cool. Otherwise there is not much replay-ability or you are forced into playing online with people that just want to drift around the track all night and drifting is a really low form of auto racing.
12. There should be a livery editor in the game that is comparable to Midnight Club:Los Angeles or better!!! Why am I spending my own money paying for colors and then losing them after I use them, this is complete BS!!!
I created a General Lee car in Midnight that took hours to design putting all the stars on the roof just in the right shape and everything and you cant be creative with this game like that all. I can guarantee that if there was a editor in the game some of the designs would be great and I would personally like to see that but this game doesn't give people the use of their minds.
13. The license tests are waaay to hard to get gold in and quite frankly are just designed to piss people off. I generally have "FUN" playing most games but this game tends to piss me off because its always been full of flaws but since I love cars I play it.
14. The guys at Criterion got it right with Burnout Paradise and the online aspect of the game. The open world was a great move and over three years later I still play every once in a while online. Its just a fun time online and GT5 kinda sucks online and is limited to becoming chat rooms where people either just drift or don't do much of anything or really stupid 200 lap races.
15. The same old races are in the game that have been in the last 2 games in the same order and the same amount of races and use the same cars and everything is the same same same same same. Have the courage to do something different. Like old vs.new races, Japan vs. America or England or Italian or German or whatever country.
16. Show damage already WTF is wrong with not showing damage on the cars???!!! Grid did a really cool feature where it actually worked but not in this series where all the cars need to look perfect all the time, really lame.
17. Japan really didn't make anything good until the 70's and some people might even say until the early 80's and has only produced one super car, the GT-R. So why are there sooooooooo many Japanese cars in the game??????
Is this guy Kaz crazy or something? He sends a team of people over to Jay Leno's house to record sounds for the game and almost half of the game is crap Japanese cars. Only 2 Australian cars and not one UTE or the Mad Max interceptor (Ford Falcon) is in the game, what a crime.
18. This is a list of the top fastest cars in the world and only 5 were included in the game but thankfully we got every Honda Civic and Mazda Miata ever produced put in the game and specific races for those crap cars as well.

Does anyone notice that there is not one Japanese car on this list, why? Because Japan only has one fast car in the world that was ever produced that's why and it really doesn't have a soul to it compared to all of these cars.
Finally I have attached a link so the people at PD can understand all the relevant car companies in the world and put them in the next game that will probably take another 7 years to see the light of day. Fire Kaz, as producer of the GT series or let him do a all Japanese game and bring in someone from an American company or English company to make a game that is going to be more of a worldwide game. Japan is not good at making video games and never has been, minus the Dragon Quest series and Shadow of the Colossus and Zelda. Yes I am sure everyone can name a bunch that I missed but those three are by far the best.
Some of you might think that this is anti Japanese but that is far from the truth I happen to think that GT5 is a marketing tool and I paid money for a good game and got a lame re-boot and spent too much money for it and the producer of the game has a stick up his butt for cars from Japan. I am not pro American ANYTHING that's why I don's live in the states anymore I am simply pointing out all the glaring flaws in the game and venting about it and will probably not continue to play a game that should be entertaining me but is just pissing me off instead.
I hope the next effort of the game will be better but I probably wont care by the time it comes out. I would rather play a Half Life 3 if that ever gets released or a really buggy Skyrim.
