What the game should have been!!!

Typical English response. No I will complain about it that is what Americans do we complain about things. English people just say "ohh well he tried" .
My ex is English so I know English people rather well.

Nice bit of racism (dressed up as patriotism) there too. Apparently you don't know English people well enough to maintain a relationship with them...

Address this. Now.

As it stands you've just libelled the vice-president of Sony. Since we have no desire to be shut down, you need to (attempt to) prove it or we cannot allow the discussion to continue.

Your ex might be English but she's just one person not the whole country...

Please, show us proof before this thread is locked 👍

Then please share it with the audience, referenced, before we're contacted for Polyphony's lawyers requesting your details. As it stands you've just libelled the vice-president of Sony. Oh, he's "done some research". That'll stand up in court.

I'm sure having to can 30 months of work on upgrading GT4 to start with GT5 from scratch was all at Nissan and Toyota's behest. Why has there never been a Nissan or Toyota on the front cover of a full, canon Gran Turismo game?

GT5 was not started from scratch in any respect it had a good "rolling start" with the work done from GT4. Prologue was delayed because of the GTR and its on the cover. This is not about American cars vs Japanese cars which there would be no comparison. Japanese cars just started getting good in the last 25 years.

1. Tin foil hats on. While I do agree that there are a bit too many skylines and miatas (not enough variations in the models) it IS a japanese game, and they've got much better acces to japanese cars.

2. If you find the graphics sub par then you must have ridiculously high standards. Also you make the (all too) common mistake believing they've been working on it for 7 years non stop, completely ignoring the other titles they've released in between.

3. The redbull is silly I agree. But you don't have to use it. (except for the challenge)

4. I actually agree on this one too. The test track has been in all GTs to date. It should've been in from the start.

5. I like the way it is. Adds a certain realism to it all, making rare cars actually rare.

6. Which takes a few minutes to learn.

7. The animations get a bit old after a while yes.

8. I love the menu music in GT5! It's one of the high points in the game. But it's all personal opinion, so it's not a valid form of critisism by you. Also, did you just say that GT should have fallout music? Or did I missunderstand?

9. I agree.

10. That's up to you. You don't have to upgrade the car much (or sometimes not at all) to win. It comes down to skill.

11. That would be cool I guess. As for the online part, there are many good racing leagues here on GTplanet to join with good clean racers. 👍

12. Yeah the paint system is weird. Not that I really care personally.

13. But they're optional for the first time in GT history. And they're meant to be hard, really hard.

14. Like I said, play in one of the leagues here and you won't have that problem.

15. I agree, there should've been more new race series. Keep all the old + some more new.

16. Honestly I don't care about visual damage at all and the way it's implemented into GT5 makes me wish they hadn't at all.

17. That's just pure opinion. Let me guess, performance is what makes a car good? If that's the case you aren't a true car enthusiast.
There should be more australian/german/american cars for sure though.

18.Ok.

You assume that it's reallty easy to get a hold of any car in the world. Gran Turismo has always had a lot of Japanese cars since it's a Japanese game and the cars are more available to them. And if they were bought by some car companies why is there other cars at all?

Delusional.

I just don't understand how so many new members are professional software engineers and developers with a fundamental understanding of GT. All of these geniuses can do better and we should be grateful they took the time to register here and share their wisdom.

I just wish I had the insight that these people have, simply incredible. What superstars.

I say each one should contact Sony directly and offer a proposal detailing how they would change every facet of Gran Turismo development for the better without even seeing how Polyphony work. Takes my breath away just thinking about the stupendous ability of these highly intelligent individuals.

Reading into it a bit much

Whats funny is most people think 9/11 was a conspiracy and no one on this website believes that Kaz and PD were tools for Japanese car companies.

Wake up dude. I am not saying its totally bad I mean Sony is a Japanese company and PD is as well and Kaz is Japanese so why not promote Japanese cars heavily in the game and make fat Americans buy into it. And start them young so every American's first car is Japanese and get them hooked, like the cigarette companies do.

Its like the armed forces and government if you say things and repeat them enough people will buy into it. How many of you actually want to own a GTR now or a Japanese car in general?

I am simply stating that I see through the marketing ploy of the game and the lack of original game play included in this game compared to the previous one's.
Why is there not one Chinese car in the game? Because China does not import that many Japanese cars.

GT5 was not started from scratch in any respect it had a good "rolling start" with the work done from GT4.

Yes it was. The team spent two and a half years making GT5 out of GT4 before the project was scrubbed and GT5 started from scratch. The only carry-over was some of the in-game assets - and some assets had already been modelled to new requirements.

This is not proof that Kazunori Yamauchi has been "bought" by "Japanese car companies".

Prologue was delayed because of the GTR and its on the cover.

Odd concept, given that the game was launched on the 10th anniversary of the Gran Turismo series... That'd be a curiously specific delay. Further to that, the GT-R itself was launched in the Prologue Demo at the same time as it was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2007 - we'd already been driving it for two months before the real car was released... It's also not a canon game (whole numbers, simulation mode) and the car on the cover of the final version is the Citroen GT by Citroen Concept...

This is not proof that Kazunori Yamauchi has been "bought" by "Japanese car companies".

"Fat americans"... Step by step, further over the line by the looks of. Hope you had a lovely stay here at GTPlanet.

OMFG this is turning hilarious!

I've wanted an R32 GTR because of what they did at Bathurst in 1991 and 1992, I only started playing GT4 2 years ago....

As for the rest, my god you're another crackpot...

You make some very good points and some not so. It's all down to personal preference really.
Your right about the game taking 7 years. For 7 years the game should be a lot better an should have moved forward.

I plan on it and when I get a reply from them I will post it.

Did to read my post?

It didn't take 7 years.

So you jumped on here with accusations before the proof arrived in your hands?

not exactly clever is it

This is very selfish personal view onto game. Size and concept of this game is very unique and unseen anywhere else. There are certainly some points to criticize like whole last century A-spec races concept or really bad engine sounds but other than that, this game is amazing. You can't have EVERY feature seen in EVERY other game in GT. That would be some king of pure perfection and pure perfection is thing that you are not going to see on this planet. Ever.

Close the thread and delete it if it bothers you that much. I am not worried about liable suit from Sony.

Close the thread and delete it if it bothers you that much.

Ten years, 6.2 million posts and 205,000 members to have shut down because someone makes an unproven (and unproveable) libellous comment about a person who reads the site? Hell, yes it bothers us.

I am not worried about liable suit from Sony.

Unless you have proof of the paper trail, you should be. Since you're apparently unwilling or unable to provide it, the conclusion that you don't have it could easily be drawn - especially as your "done some research" points about other aspects of GT5's development are demonstrably false...

You're welcome to PM me or the site owner with your proof at any point and we'll reopen the thread. It's a pity as your comments could probably stand some discussion if you didn't throw in casual racism and libel like Polyphony throw in S2000s.
