Well, I have nothing to comment on about this, so I'll let the pole speak.

Sorry if there is an option you wanted in the poles that I didn't include. Feel free to post your own opinion instead if that happens.

Overall I try to race clean, but accidentally hit people that cut me off from time to time. Racing online isn't much fun anymore since there isn't as many people racing and can never get a full race.

And I've also noticed people entering races just to drive their car to the side of the track and wait until the race is over just so they can get free credits.

Hopefully GT5 does something about this. Especially when you get hit so hard from another race and you slam into the wall and it calls a penalty on you. I'm sure there is a thread for that stuff anyway.

First of all regarding the options available it seems like you made some obvious misstakes regarding what a clean driver actually is, meaning driving clean means fair, no shortcuts or cheating, etc IMO.

It does not mean however just sticking to the racing line and setting fast laps because when you race a lot of possiblities will occur during a clean and fair fight, as it becomes apparant the ideal racing line is not always available to you when an opponent already took it and you want to overtake and have to use a different line.

Racing is improvising, being alert and looking for opportunities constantly unless you're so far ahead or behind you can fully concentrate on setting fast laps.
It is also about surprising your opponent, given that you do it safe and leave plenty of room for them to react.

And there are probably all sorts of different aspects I even forgot to mention which make every race unique and exciting ( although not always, unfortunately ), and yes I always try to race clean ( or fair is more accurate ) but I do make misstakes but always apologise and explain afterwards if I do.:)

Racing online isn't much fun anymore since there isn't as many people racing and can never get a full race.

Actually, the Intermediate race at the HSR has been getting 8-12 players per race recently. I was on this afternoon and I was never in a race with less than 7 cars. It was really exciting as I had never raced in a full 12 car field since I first got Prologue.

Option number one. Those that have raced with me know how I race. I am fairly clean, sometimes right on people's bumpers. Filling up someone's rear view mirror for a lap or two is quite fun for me. :D For people that hit me I usually give them a couple chances to right themselves before I take them out.

My problem with most people that race online are always racing at 110% and it's hard to have fun racing like that. I have the most fun when I can "cruise" at about 80%.

I generally drive clean but I do occasionally give in to idiots.

I've also accidentally nudged people but that's about it, highly doubt I've ever killed someone's race.

Same here. I will always race clean with other clean drivers, but I have a limit when it comes to punters. For example, if someone has repeatedly hit me and others in the race, I will retaliate. But only if it is obvious that they are only in the race to ruin it for other people.

Hi fella's,;)👍
Racing online with what is and what isn't clean can be cut with a knife; in the sense that its obvious what is clean and what is not. Simply put, what you can't get away with in real life, you don't try in the game.
I believe the limit of clean in very close racing is minor amounts of paint swapping (this happens in real life). However it should not come to panel deformation etc.:)

I would say I race clean and I get practice of a at least 4 laps of any Car/ Track combo before racing online; I would encourage others to follow my lead on this if you don't already do.💡

However in the interest of making the online experience as realistic as possible sometimes punters have to be dealt with, as all there out for is to see how many cars they can push off the track. Also some of these sad, impotent people like hate mail; so don't waste your time, chances are they like it (get kicks?) and your just buying into there game by messaging them.:indiff: I prefer to simply just cause them to screw up themselves:sly:....and sometimes massaging there panels to cause them to go off works to.:mischievous: Realistically GT5P doesn't leave us with alot of options to prevent punters from wrecking what would otherwise be a good race (especially if your racing friends etc.) Soooo in these cases extreme action must be taken.:D
I do think GT5 will remove any problems with punters. Private race rooms will see to that. The lobby will help also.:)👍
Peace out,

I will never smash someone off the track but im not one of those guys who just lets you drive past me. Overall i drive like a touring car driver not ruining it for people but a little smash wont hurt.

ESRB rating for this post: T (graphic language)

Online racing is dirtier than a hemophiliac with full blown AIDS and razor blades for lips who spittles. I dont like to get too close.

I've only had a handful of decent races online, including one with a particularly honourable Japanese person who after dogging me on the last turn of High Speed Ring by accident(PIT maneouver) actually allowed me to pass him to claim the first that was rightfully mine.

Clean is what is most rewarding …

… especially when you get bumped off the line and then claim your place back with some elegant outside pass without even touching the person who needed a dirty move to get past you.

And if you're in the mood for some relaxed full contact fighting, there's still things like CAD Destruction Derby Server (and surely compareable environments in GT5 as soon as it is out).

I agree with R1600Turbo, most people seem to be racing at 110%, which more than often doesn't end too well and isn't much fun generally, even if you can keep out of the trouble.

Today I've been playing GT5P after long abstinence and it was fun and very fairplay... however biggest issue is still if you have someone from far away [especially Japan for me] hosting, you get ridiculous amount of lag and the penalties are just stupid ... I let someone who's faster pass, touch him oh so slightly and get a penalty, race pretty much over... I pushed a Spanish guy a bit out of the way since he was zig-zagging (lag?) for couple of laps, so I decided that would be the safest way to pass, no penalty...
Other than that I'm always clean, I don't like winning by cheating. ;)

For the most part it has been good, with a few bad experiences. I've been doing the Fuji race mostly and the helter skelter at the beginning is what usually makes or breaks me. Then the usual idiot who feels the need to hit you as he's passing you on the straight. I move out of the way because I know I'm slower, yet the still feel the need to mess up your flow.

I race cleanly, and almost every time that I try to wreak vengeance on a punter, it backfires, so I tend to let them off themselves, which they almost always do.

I thrash idiots off the track not only becasue they hit me, but becasue I don't want them ruining everyone eles's race as well (I hate it when people win be means of wrecking others). They belong in the back where they can fight it out amungst eachother for second too last place.

Went with option number one 👍 Since I helped write the OLR rules for GTP I GUESS I should abide by them :P In GT5P I used to get upset about people driving carelessly, so I just stopped all together until GT5 and private rooms become available. I love it when people get mad when I draft them and am RIGHT ON their bumper (but not touching!) and they slam on the brakes. I know then and there they have no clue what racing is  I really miss racing with hOt604bOi in Seattle for LAN events, he and I would ride bumpers ALL DAY :) Is it time for GT5 yet?

Lets disect a video of a real online race:

As everyone can clearly see, there are 4 competitors; Camera man, white GT-R, Silver Clio, and a black Clio. Who is what kind of racer in this group???

It seems that at 7:43 of the video, someone intentionally takes out the white GTR on the final lap. Besides that it seems clean to me with a few love taps here and there.

Pick a car that you can be in the low 38s man. That way you don't have to deal with the freaking basher and punters. They are usually too slow to keep up....lol

I can run mid to low 1:39's in the Tuned Skyline. Trouble is getting far enough away from the punters for it to make any difference. Doesn't always work out.

Edit: and most of the cars in the 1:38's are the GT-R, Clio, etc. which I don't really care for.

Well if someone keeps hitting me then I will have to go after them:drool: It's good to be aggressive but I hate when drivers dont antcipate when to brake when they are right behind you going into a corner:banghead:
I have dont it too by accident but have'nt we all!! :guilty:

The main thing is its never fun being banged about when the lead pack are getting away thus taking all the fun out of it.👎
