i have a g25, but im still setting it up. and i dont expect to always use the wheel either. so i will use the controller quite alot.

till now, i have used the classic - left analouge stick for direction and x and square for accelerating and braking...

however, i have been playing quite a bit of pgr on the xbox, and i have been using the trigger buttons for accelating and braking. i must say its quite good.

so i tried it on gran turismo 5 prolouge, used the triggers. and i think it feels alot better. theres more control when braking, and acelerating, quite nice actually...so im considering to switch to that?...

So, what method does everyone else use?...

When I play GT5P, I usually drive the F2007. So I set up my controller to be as F1 as possible.

R1- shift up
L1- shift down
R2- accelerate
L2- Brake
square- E-brake
X- reverse

I'll be using my DFGT most of the time, but when I use a controller (say, if it's late at night or I don't want to plug in my DFGT), I use the following setup:

R1: Handbrake
R2: Accelerate
L1: Look behind
L2: Brake
X: Shift down
Square: Shift up
Triangle: Reverse
O: Handbrake (again, I believe)
Select: Change view
Right stick: Look around
Left stick: Steering
R3: Enable the real time menu
Dpad: Control the real time menu options

I think my controller setup depends on what options PD give us. If they give us the chance of looking up and down in the cockpit as well as a clutch button, of course it won't be the same as when I play GT5P

I did try triggers but found no benefit, I can usually control my accelerator quite well with x, although my brakes are always on or off :L

Left and right sticks for me with the triggers for gears.

I prefer automatic in 2 player though as I use the engine sound for the gear changes and they get mxed up in 2 player, anyone else have that prolem or is it just me?

Yep same problem, I always drive automatic in 2P, and mostly manual in 1P.
My setting will be: dual analog, with triggers for gears

I'll be using my DFGT, but before I got it I used triggers and the D-Pad *gasp*

I find it works much better than the analogue stick, as it's easier to be smooth through corners.

Totally agreed! :D

Blame it on PD.

since GT3 i map the accel and brake to the right Analog up and down(i hold it with thumb and index) left analog steer.

GT5P had me on the default Triggers for A+B and left analog steer.

GT5 ill have my first wheel, but if its an "away" game ill use triggers and analog.

G25, but I will use my controller for for quick real time adjustments.

I will be using either my Logitech G25 or my new Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S Wheel which ever is more compatible or better used by PD and GT5, as I never used controllers for racing games. (only on PSP since I have no other choice)

Left and right stick doesn't work for me. To complicated.

Acceleratie: right stick
Brake: R2
Steering: Dpad
shift up: R1
shift down: L1
the rest: some other buttons

This set-up allows you to 'left-foot-brake'

Here are my settings:
Left Stick:Turning
R2:Accelerating
L2:Braking
Right Stick: Shifting up/down(Before i tried that setting i hated manual but now, i have not changed to automatic gearbox for months)

Will never use a pad with a GT game again... So umm... yeah, Steering wheel for me please! :)

As long as they don't do something stupid like NFS and limit what buttons we can use, I'll use the same as always.
Of course, I should have a wheel by then. Of course, I might be 40 by then too though.

I have a setup that allows me to switch between the triggers and the standard buttons for throttle and brakes. Using right stick up/down for gears if using the triggers, and L1/R1 is using the buttons.

I always use the left stick of steering. I've done so ever since GTA San Andreas decided i didn't have a choice in the matter...

Hopefully by the time GT5 is out i will have a wheel of some sort to use instead. G25 prices have skyrocketed in time for christmas, so i have put that idea of hold for now.

-> Me? I'm old school style, hailing from the virtue of GT1:

Steering = D-Pad (left & right)
Accelerate = X
Brake = [ ]
E-Brake = O
Reverse = Δ
Shift/Gear Up = R2
Shift/Gear Down = L2
Rear View = L1
View Change = R1 or 'SELECT'

~> NAAAWWWSSSS (aka. NOS) = 'SELECT' or R1

R2 - Accelerate
L2 - Brake
Left stick - Steer
Right stick - Shift up/down
Square - Look Left
Circle - Look Right
X - Handbrake
Triangle - Reverse
L3 - Tune menu thing
Direction buttons - Navigate tuning menu

R2-Accelerate
L2-Brake
R1-Shift up
L1-Shift down
left analogue stick-Steer
d-Pad- change view
Triangle-reverse
Square-um...clutch, if it's in?
<Rest TBD>

Right stick for brake/gas
Left stick for steering
L1 shift down
R1 shift up
Square for heavy braking
O e-brake
Select- change camera view

Occasionaly may use R2 as gas.
