Didn't think I'd win considering the fact I used less than 5 minutes looking and limited my search to Finland only.

Anyway:

WEEK 3
Budget: 6,000€ (£4,700, $6,700)
Family: None
Expected Driving Routine
City Driving: Daily
Off-Road Driving: Weekly (Snowy road conditions expected during winter)
Sports Driving: None
The car will mostly be used for a daily commute which contains little over 10 km of motorway and a town centre, and occasionally for slightly longer motorway trips, this means that there's very little need for particularly stiff suspension, so the car should be a more luxurious one, this includes the preference of automatic transmission over a manual one. No actual off-roading will be done with it, but the snowy winter conditions should be considered.

That's a very slim budget considering the automatic preference plus a bit of luxury. But I finally chose my contender.

2000 Volvo C70 Coupe T5, 5800€, 130,000km(81,250mi)
2.3 flat 5, 237hp, 5-speed auto, FWD
Since the buyer doesn't have a family I went for a more sporty, refined and compact car and I couldn't find a 4WD inside the requirements, I went for the next best thing, a Volvo, a car built by people up north, I belive that might handle snow quite well.

With the savings you can invest in some good quality winter tyres.

I also considered certain Legacy models, but all of them had suspicious price for the mileage they have allegedly traveled. Besides, if I wanted to buy a comfortable car with automatic gearbox, I probably wouldn't be worried about boxer exhaust sound or the heritage as much as fuel consumption and costs of servicing. In these areas the Avensis is in more advantageous position. Sadly, diesel models I checked weren't available with auto gearbox.

I would use the remaining budget on decent winter tires.

WEEK 4

Budget
: Preferably higher than $15,000 (14,000 euros, 11,900 pounds), but no more than $20,000 (18,800 euros, 16,000 pounds).
Family: Husband, wife, three young children.
Expected Driving: On a daily basis.
City Driving: On a daily basis.
Off-Road Driving: Rarely, only on road trips.
Sports Driving: None.
Additional Info: This is a young family with three children under the age of five. The family lives in a semi-urban area, not far from a city's downtown. Their compact Volkswagen Golf is too small to support family needs and to haul around the groceries. They expect to keep the vehicle until the children have all grown up (15 years at minimum), so it needs to have good reliability. An SUV or crossover of any brand is preferred, but no minivan or wagon is considered. AWD is not a priority, but it is something the family wants. The vehicle cannot be any older than 7 years (2010). The size is tricky. It must sit at least five individuals comfortably. A three-row SUV would be recommended, too. Beware, the vehicle can't be too large (they live in a cramped area where large parking spaces are scarce), but it can't be too small either (the family does not want another claustrophobic driving experience).

@Turbo You can change the rules if you want, the current ones are not really suitable for dynamic beat on forums. 👍 I'll choose my car soon.
