Shouldn't it be the same whether you use the tune online or offline? How come some are approved for online and such? I'm assuming the physics engine in the game is the same whether it be online or offline.

Online is more sharp , more oversteer , make the experience ,take a car that is on the limit of oversteer offline and go online with it. It's very dificult to control. You have to set a lower rear ride height (easiest way) . For FF car that you have to set limit oversteer offline to have a responsive car with less understeer as possible, you can check this easy. Take my integra from the shotout for example and go online with it.... Undrivable.

So, it's more easy to use a car tune online for offline driving than the contrary.

From what i can gather, offline tunes for A-Spec races are usually tuned to follow the driving line spot on and balanced steering so theres no under/oversteer, the AI isnt the smartest so an offline tune is to just get you in front.
Online, your up againts real folk who will bump you, cut you up and everyone is fighting for the driving line. u need a car with good accel for all the bumps and knocks so you dont get slowed too much and u can get back upto speed and back in race more effectivly and u need a car that can get round a corner on a lot wider angle than the perfect line. sometime your gonna have to go outside, others inside and if you use a tune thats too balanced your not gonna make the corners and will lose race more easily. thats my theory anyway.

I'm not going to make a tune for my car be a tank, because people online pass you inside, outside, over you sometime... No way for me. This is not passing, this is forcing the way anyway anyhow. When i meet "racers" like this online ,and there is a lot of them, i simply try another room..... Generaly i race with people i know they're clean.
Like this don't need a tank. This is what i 'm looking for in this game, i'm not saying that they are wrong, everybody have fun the way he want. But not for me and my tunes that are made to be driven nicely. Not like an "elephant in the middle of a crystal shop...."
If i want to bump, and i like it sometime, i play burnout. It's a fantastic game for this.

yeah annoys me too when you get some idiot just bumping around. i have a lot of close friends who play gt5 online so i just go against them and know its going to be a clean race. main problem is they all frequent the forums tuning guides so we're usually driving very similar car setups lol

I thought they matched the physics in one of these latest patches? because I have noticed a significant amount of grip that's returned to me in the online races.

the only thing I've noticed that is throwing it off now is your tire tread level.

I can usually adjust the LSD a little between off-line and on-line and be pretty competitive. With off-line, I can be more agressive on the LSD and tune for a bit of oversteer. Many of my cars, especially lower horsepower cars, I don't need to change a thing to go online. The biggest differences that I have experienced are with high horsepower cars. With most of these, I do need to set more conservative LSD settings... i.e. higher settings.

I swear most of the difference is due to fuel weight. Physics have differences but that's the largest change.

Easiest counter I've found? Raise the rear ride height 2mm for front-engine cars, raise front 2mm for mid and rear engine cars.
