I know for most GT players, Photomode is hardly touched, but for a lot of us, it's the sole reason we play GT since GT4. But what's the future for it?

Wether it's future throughout GT6's time, or the future Gran Turismo games?

For most of us, Since it's first inclusion in GT4, it was vastly improved in GT5 with the tracking modes, locations and overall better detail, and a lot of us have logged over 20,000 pictures in GT5's alone. But with GT6's... it feels... forgotten. Only 6 locations, 2 countries, and only 2 new filters. It had it's share of issues, which I'm happy to say I'm back playing GT6 with them being fixed, but it still feels incomplete in comparison to GT5's. There's currently no other game out there that has the same quality as Gran Turismo 4's even. And the photomode section of GTPlanet as a whole are dying for new updates and features, we feel like we shouldn't be forgotten.

So what is it's future for GT6? Will we see updates and new features like new locations, like the sound proof room in the BMW Vision GT shots, and new camera features like the long exposures in race replay like with the FT-1 Concept shots?

And what is it's future for the next game in the series? Will it be more and more implented, or will it fall to the side and eventually removed?

Now that you mention it, I also thought about the BMW Vision GT shots. They do really have a nice background, and give off a showroom effect. It would be great to take pictures with our own cars in areas like these. Like, we can choose a showroom (even a simple black showroom to put emphasis on the car, and not the location) to take pictures. Or even the place where the car pictures are taken on the gran-turismo.com website; it's really cool. (I'm talking about when the cars are displayed in the grey area with the glossy floor and mist/smoke in the background.)

The world map in photomode speaks for itself: no point in putting it, if the only locations you can travel to are almost all in the same nation (Spain and Italy). So I think at least they had plans for more.
It would be nice to see more locations, even remixes (or even copy-paste) of the GT5 ones. They really exalt the beauty of the cars, and the overrall artistic touch of the game.

Exactly. I've been dying for that location since they've used it in GT5. Even the white one in the Dealership from GT5, or the location in the gallery view would be amazing.

Nailed it. In GT5 there was numerous locations around the country, but with GT6 being Spain and Italy only, it feels... closed. Like it doesn't feel as right to shoot anything other than a European car there. And the locations them self are rather empty and bland. I'd love to atleast see the GT5 locations make it back, and would really love to have new locations added as well. There are numerous that are rendered for showcases, why can't we have them for photomode?

I couldn't agree more. This side of GT has grown and is essentially part of the DNA of GT as a series now. It does feel like it has gotten little attention to it in GT6 and coupled with the fact they removed perfectly good content from GT5 it feels even more lacking.

Of course I have a slight bias for always wanting more in this area of dev seeing as it's one of the main reasons I play GT nowdays. ;)

Better replay controls equal better photo mode... (As in frame by frame advance AND rewind from race replay.)

But, I am confused as to why the old photo locations didn't get put into later versions... ?

God I hope we can get a couple more votes on this so it's atleast on the front page. Wether or not Photomode stays and gets support decides wether or not I buy the next GT game, and I know most of us feel the same way.

stupid how a "how are you today" gets more votes than this.

Thank you for the support everyone, hopefully this will be answered, and Kaz will see that photomode is a vital part of the GT series.

I just did the showcase for the Vision GT cars and even a regular dealership cars and holy crap. Those would be perfect additions to photomode! If we could get each stage used in the Vision GT galleries, we'd be happier than anything Kaz. Please, we need some love in GT6!

I have to admit that when photomode was added in GT4 I thought it was geeky & pointless. I was embarrassed when my friends & family realised you could do that in GT :embarrassed:, & I made a point of telling them that I never took pictures of my pretend cars.

However, when GT5 came out & all the seriously talented folk here at GT Planet started to create some truly stunning shots, I began to really like going through the threads & drooling over all the GT eye candy on show there! Even though I don't take any photos myself, it will be interesting to see if Kaz has any plans for it, & if so what?

👍

Well, from my experience on using the 'Share Button' on the PS4, I'd rather see them use a similar photomode that Suckerpunch Studios used for their first PS4 game, Infamous: Second Son.

It's quicker to use than the photomode from previous GT games. 👍

Example:

While it's quicker, I'm willing to bet it's not exactly the thing. The DSLR PD have imitated is brilliant and so easy to use, I feel if they make it simpler like a lot of games do, we'll lose that fine control over things in our shots.

But I feel PD need to add a Pause Menu photomode, that's just basically the same controls as travel/replay, but on the fly during a race, especially for just static track shots like a lot of us like to do.

1) Sure they may implement it in a different kind of way, though wonder if P.D may use the share button's function for this as well?

2) Press start and select the photomode during a race? They should just use the share button on the PS4 controller for it.

I'd like to know how many Photomode locations are planned. There were BUNCHES in GT4, then in 5 Prologue, 5, and 6, they were SEVERELY limited.

Are ANY of them coming back, and/or are any new ones coming?

This is what I ant to know too.

I'm sorry I ignored this thread because I thought surely it was a no brainer that Photo Mode would get a nice boost on PS4. But then, I was reminded by that other thread that PM locations were dropped with each GT game, and that piqued my enthusiasm for this. I hope neither author minds if the threads are merged, because the extra votes would sure help both causes.

This.

If GT7 on the PS4 has no photomode, or any significant improvements, I'm out. GT stands out for me because it's photomode is so vastly superior to anything else. out there.
