What's The Point Of FIA

In my opinion if the points structure was done right so that you could accurately place yourself in your country and region it would make total sense but with it being all over the place you could look like you're top 10 in your country and be actually 100th and others could be top 10 and actually placed 100th due to the randomness of it.

They also used to be 1 shot which added a "Special" factor to them, but that has been scrapped.

Without these 2 factors I feel like they're just like any other race but with slightly closer skill gaps if I'm honest.
Yeah, it's weird. I'm usually Ranked No.1 in my Local, but lower in my Region.

Now, I understand all the ranking. That's not the issue. My issue are rewards. What do I get for finishing No.1 in my Local? 200,000 Cr.? A gift car? Some form of acknowledgement? Nope. Nothing. Nada. Nathan.

I'd settle for a virtual plaque, to crown me top player born in 1971.

But that's the problem, as the points are all over the show, I think they'd struggle to reward people. I mean there's things I know about this that I can't say but I think their plan has always been to reward people exactly like this :).

Not at all

yes, really.

you, the guy with 7 posts on this site (noob) is claiming that these races, are only for noobs and not for decent drivers who try to race properly....why, because you had some bad experiences?

there are plenty of people in this game who are amazing drivers and participate in FIA. In fact, the best drivers in the game run FIA races and rarely do dailies. The post just above me (Tidgney) is by one of the fastest and most respectful drivers in the world....who also races FIA. But I guess he's a noob who doesn't care about proper racing. LOL.

you can't make such an uninformed blanket statement and not expect to be called out.

Care to share a video of your terrible races? Care to share your stats? Most people that complain in such a fashion without any context turn out to be the ones who can't drive.

I have no idea what your rank is, but I'm willing to bet if you improve it, you'll start to see better, cleaner racing.

edit: found your stats. B-rated, SR is 57 at the moment and pretty shaky SR chart over time. Might wanna look into that.

For me, I do the FIA races if it looks like a combo that I'll enjoy, which is the same way I approach daily races.
I'm not good enough to get a top ranking, so the points don't mean 🤬 to me.
Like I said, if I think I might enjoy the race, I'll do it. I look at it as a 4th daily race.

I love the FIA races, a live qualifying session with you all in it having one or two flying laps rather than doing 200 laps until you get a lap record you're happy with, longer races that usually incorporate some sort of strategy regarding tyres and fuel and everyone very closely matched by DR. Of course, these types of races could be facilitated in normal sport mode away from the FIA banner but it's the format that does it for me.

In the words of Tony the Tiger...

They're gr-r-reat!!

People would just game them system if there was though, it would just end up a big mess from people tanking to win a division.
I agree they would be gamed if it was done by rankings, but there's other ways that are used in the real world to create divisions that can't be gamed. Age (over 50's for example) and disability are two that come to mind off the top of my head.

There is no point, hence why I don't bother with them. I know I'm not good enough to compete at the top, and my luck has always been rotten.

I think the FIA events exist to allow the top drives to have opportunities in real Motorsports. What I think Gran Turismo is trying to achieve is making sim racing a legitimate way into real race cars. Igor Fraga is a perfect example. He used his victories in the world tour events and the McLaren Shadow events to get into real cars, an look where he is now: in an F3 car winning races. The world tour events are for people that want to get into real racing but can’t do it the old way. If you don’t have the plan to go into race cars as a profession, then maybe the World Tour events aren’t for you.

I prefer doing the FIA races simply because of the qualifying. In daily races, from Tuesday onwards, I would have to do an hour of hot-lapping to get a time in my skill rating to be anywhere other than the back of the field. In FIA races I can do 15 mins of practice and hop into the race and then since qualifying is a part of the race I might start somewhere other than last. If I have the choice of an hour of time trial or an hour of racing, I will always choose racing.

As to the multiple races you can do in FIA now, I would prefer to go back to the 1 shot option but that would reduce the time people play for so I can't see that happening. You either keep going until you get your best result as the best drivers have to do, or treat it like a bit of fun and just do what races you want. It screws the good drivers who cant spend 6-10 hours playing a day, but that is similar to other sports/hobbies and I don't see PD changing it.

FIA Races are for me best races in the game. Especially Manufacturer Series.
The first point is the qualifying. It is part of racing like you can see it in every race series.

The second point is the strategy. Some races are more interesting than others, because you have to choose different tyres because of the requirement.

Fuel and Tyre Settings are hard and challenging. Settings for the daily are most time not so didicult. You need to drive smooth, no sliding for using your tyres in the final corner.
Short Shifting maybe helps for winning sone time in the pit.

Fourth, the races are long. Now around 25 minutes. Compared to a real series this is very short, but I don't have any fun of driving a 4 lap race on Lago GP II. The FIA has longer races and if you made any mistake the race isn't over. I had much comebacks:gtpflag:

Fifth, for me the motivation for a FIA race is much higher than doing hotlaps for a daily race. So I stopped daily racing and preferring training in a lobby for the next race.

Last point, FYI. I am now DR A with 33k. I did daily race the last time for becoming a A driver for the main season. I keep the A for more points.

I saw on Youtube that KIE25 was doing a FIA boycott. Interesting, but I think that there won't happen much before the next game.

For the record, KIE25 was not "doing a boycott", well at least not on his own. He joined a big group of WorldTour and other top players on Twitter to express themselves against the current status of the game and canvassing for support. Famine's article on this elsewhere on this forum explains more detail. AND at least PD has responded with a message and made some changes to the penalty system.

I probably take the FIA races a bit too seriously. If i get a bad result i'm in a really bad mood for the rest of the night. The next morning i'm fine and realise its just a game and makes no difference to my life!

I just set myself goals like trying to get over 100 points for the first time. Then once i did that, trying to get over 100 points in every race and so on. I also used to set tell myself if i didn't finish 12th or higher in a race then i'd go again but i rarely time for more than 1 race now.

I don't do daily races anymore either so FIA is the only reason i play. I like to see how i'm doing against over drivers in my Manufacturer or even in my area as i'm in London so have quite a few people in my area to compete against.

I've been trying long enough to get to DR A so reaching S isn't even a goal. Probably reached my peak now at high DR B (28k points).

I'm just in it for the close racing which majority of the time is good fun! :)

(I try to do first slot too as i feel its fairer with no one having an advantage of race practice and strategy already!)
