What's your superstitious aid?

One guy on the E3 racer X video talked about wearing mismatches aocka because it's what he had the year before when he qualified (hillracing/Nicholas I think?)

What's yours?

I have to admit to a bit of the sock thing as well but I also have one particular shirt that really works as well :sly: Add that to my ritualistic menu of specific caffeine drinks and it's all good for at least 1.89 on the track

Not superstitious, but I do some weird thing with my ring fingers that make them pop. I just did it now because I was thinking about it, but literally haven't done it since the last time I touched my rig (last year). Only do it when concentrating on turning fast laps, nervous twitch I guess.

EDIT: Great, now I can't stop doing it.

Ha! Ya I do that too. I've also found thay when I'm turning a fast lap and not really thinking about it I use the straights to scratch an itch on my head or look at something else in the room. I guess that's a sign of when I've finally calmed down and am in a good rythym

I have been thinking a lot about "the zone" lately. There is a lot of science to support it's existence beyond merely just some concentration multiplier or such. In fact, I believe that concentration is for when one is not in "the zone", and could even be considered an enemy of it.

In theory, superstitions could potentially encourage going to that special place. It may be that it matters not what it is, more so what it does.

Also true. I can tell when I've reached that state... like I mentioned above. All of a sudden im as comfortable and carefree as if im just watching tv.

Tonight I actually took a couple drinks after exiting chapel... and ran one of my fastest laps lol.

When I notice that my left hand starts aching. I tend to scoot over in my chair to the right as I play for a bit, which for whatever reason I death grip my wheel with my left hand. That's at least when I've set my best laps.

I wear a certain pair of mismatched socks, because they were the socks I wore when I got my first track day (courtesy of someone who just randomly let me track their car). But that's only in live competition. If I wore them all the time they'd get pretty rancid :P
