WHEN TO REDUCE WEIGHT

What criteria do you use when deciding whether or not to reduce the weight of a car. Just recently I appear to have ruined 2 perfectly good supercars by using this option.

I'll reduce a cars weight before I do anything else to it. It's the first port of call for me as I prefer higher cornering capabilities than lots of outright power and straight line speed. I've never "ruined" a car with weight reduction though. I don't know how you'd do that unless you've added stage 3 engine tuning and a high RPM turbo as well, creating some kind of ludicrous power to weight ratio.

How did you ruin your supercar by doing a WR?
The first thing I do for every seasonal is WR, if I still have extra PP from the limit then I add power parts, etc...
PS you can always remove the WR, unlike GT5.

If its a choice between more power or less weight, I'd always pick less weight. The only time I'd take power would be if it was a top speed tune, in that case more power would be better.
Some high powered cars are less stable with less weight because it is easier to spin up the rear tyres but the same problem will occur if you added more power. All of these problems can be cured with a bit of a basic tuning, with GT6 you should never expect a car to feel and function the same when you start changing performance parts.

Reduce weight then use ballast, knowing how much to use and where to put it is the art. If you nail it you can tame even the worst handling cars from RUFs to enzos.

Cars with more than 550 HP or so get lightened instead of adding more power to a point. I try to keep a minimum of 1050-1100 KG of weight on cars with that much power. Once a car is this light I also avoid going over the 600 HP mark.

I use comfort soft or sport hard tires.

Oh and by the way your cars aren't ruined, you can just un-do the weight reductions to go back to stock weight, I assume you know this though.
