Where are all the Spurs fans?

The Kings aren't in the finals because..... hmmm... damn you got me  But they're still my favourite team. A true fan stands behind his team at all times, good or bad!

Damn, you have a point.

This is last year's thread, but I thought it might be better to recycle it than create another thread......

Anyways, did anybody watch the Spurs lay the smack down on the Suns today? As the score indicates(121-114), I think Spurs offense killed the Suns today, not the famous Spurs defense. In the next game, I want to see the Spurs slow the Suns offense down, and play physical. Spurs shouldn't be playing uptempo basketball with Phoenix, they should play their own game.

I guess the regular season record between these two teams are Spurs 3 - Suns 1, so I guess it's looking good. In the only game Spurs lost, they didn't have Duncan and Ginobili due to injuries. :)

Game 2.... this was a close one! :scared: I don't have a cable, so I checked the score on the ESPN.com and the Spurs were down by 2 points with just couple of minutes left in the 4th quarter. :ill: Checked it again, just few minutes later and Spurs were up by 2 points with just seconds left. Ginobili made one of two freethrows to put his team up by three. Nash missed the last second, three pointer, game over! I called up my buddy, and he happened to be watching the game(I should've gone over to his apartment :grumpy: ), I guess the Spurs were doing OK most of the 4th quarter, but when I checked the score, that's when the Suns came back. Go Spurs! :)

P.S. During the half time, they ran the NBA Lottery. My Blazers had the fifth best chance for #1 pick and they got the #3 pick! I was really hoping they'd get the top 3 pick, so I'm extremely happy about this. Utah Jazz, who I hate with all my heart had the 4th best chance, but landed the 6th pick. This make the 3rd pick, even sweeter. :sly:

Like people have been saying all year about the Suns, outscoring your opponents stops working once you get to the playoffs. It got them this far, but they played the Grizzlies and the Mavericks, neither of which can stop anyone. Now that they have one of the best defensive teams, which is now also proving that they can run with the Suns scoring wise as well, it looks like the Suns are in a bit of trouble. Phoenix can't get one stop down the stretch, that's what it's come down to in the first two games. They had the lead going into the fourth in both games, only to lose both. They gave up 43 points in the 4th quarter in game 1, and 31 tonight in the 4th. There's no way they have a chance to come back in this series unless they prove they can play defense.

Exactly. 👍 Run and gun type offense does not work in the playoffs. Good defensive teams will almost always slow your offense down, make you play at their pace. I learned this, while watching my Blazer get killed by the Lakers just about every year. :guilty: However, if anyone could beat the odds, I thought it might be the Suns....... then Joe Johnson, their third best scorer went down. I'm just waiting for the Spurs - Pistons NBA Finals now. :D

What's kind of amazing about the Spurs, is that while they obviously excel in a halfcourt slower paced game, where they can run their offense and shut down the opposing team's offense, is that in the first 2 games they've shown that they can also play with the Suns in a fast paced, high scoring affair too. I hate the Spurs by the way. 👎 I was really hoping that Phoenix could pull it off, but they dug themselves a big hole now. :indiff:

I think this is really starting to hurt Phoenix. Everytime Nash comes out of the game, it's Leandro Barbosa running the point, and their offense just seems lost. Joe Johnson was playing back-up point guard to Nash, so when he went out, they were still fine. He can run an offense, he can create his own points, and he's also one of their best 1-on-1 defenders. It's also really shortened their bench not having him. He's expected to play in Saturday's game, it'll be interesting to see what kind of impact he has.

Yeah, it kinda scares me a little though. With Ginobili and Parker, I know they can play uptempo, but I was hoping the Spurs would kill the Suns with their grinding defense. I just hope they don't lose their way, but whatever works, I guess. :)

At the begining of the series, I was thinking around 60% chance of Spurs winning the series. After taking the first two games.... on the road! it's looking really good for the San Anton. :D

Yessssssssssss! Spurs up, 3-0. From what I've read, I guess Steve Nash really struggled(yessssss!) and had like six turnovers! Yup, this series is pretty much over. abc( ) is actually televising the game 4 on Monday, so I might be able to witness a sweep........ maybe. :)

Yeah, the Suns just don't have defense. I also suspect because they are such a young and/or inexperienced team, they get easily frustrated when they don't win. Hell, they did it so much this season...

ABC? Ah you guys get Bill Walton announcing don't you? Bahahaha. :P

Walton's alright. He is boneheaded sometimes, but I like it when he and Steve "Snapper" Jones gets into it. :D My gripe with the abc is that they spent probably hundreds of million of $$$ to buy the rights to air NBA games, but they don't bother showing any of it. It's the NBA Playoffs right now, and you know how many games they televise a week? Two. 🤬 two games. abc went from my favorite network to 👎 . I miss NBA on NBC. :(

Darn it! How did a Brit get into the NBA thread!! Oh well, I spammed the soccer thread yesterday..... :P

I just saw the thread title. There is a fairly good Premiership team called Tottenham Hotspur, or Spurs for short.

And it's called football by the way.

It's called that because you use your foot to kick the ball ;)

I know! :D I call it soccer to get you guys going. When I'm talking to an American about NFL(American Football), I pretend that I thought he was talking about the football(soccer), just to get him worked up. Yeah, it's kinda twisted. :sly:

My Grandad is a Spurs fan. It's a shame he isn't around to cheer them on anymore. :(

I'm sorry to hear about your granddad. My grand father passed away, just couple years ago. He was sooo cool to me. :)

P.S. You are talking about Spurs, the soccer team too. Aren't you! :D

Half time: 59 - 52, Spurs. It's on abc right now, watch it! :)

Phoenix looks pretty good right now, and they are shooting really well. Unfortunately for them, still no answer for Manu Ginobili. :D

Noooooooooo! I can't 🤬 believe it. :banghead:

I gotta give the Suns a credit though. They made a lot of tough shots in the 4th qtr. and that block by Stoudemire on the Duncan's shot was something else. 👍

Damn it! Next game is on Wednesday on ESPN. I play basketball with the guys on Wednesday nights and on top of that, I don't even have cable. :grumpy:

The Suns played a good game all around, and Amare Stoudemire absolutely took over the game in the last couple minutes. I didn't like Manu Ginobili before this series, and I'm starting to "not like" him more and more each game I watch him. He's a good player, but you can tell he grew up with soccer the way he takes flops trying to draw fouls. I didn't really like to see that. I'm sure the Spurs will have some arguments with the referees down the stretch, but it's the playoffs, so suck it up. :dopey:

Yeah, I was.

My Grandad was cool too. He used be be a ex-boxer so he could pack a punch. :D

Yeah, I was absolutely ........ upset :D about the last few minutes of play, but I am an NBA fan, so I'm used to inconsitency in the officiating and I didn't say anything because it's just the way it goes in the last minutes of the game.

I'm an Ginobili fan, so I admit I am biased, but he is not a flopper. When I play ball, I drive to the basket same way he does. Slower defender will try to make a block and end up bumping you when he can't get to the ball, and that's when you get knocked down. If anything, I'm upset at the lazy defenders, who tries to "damage control" their mistake last minute(right before the shot). I think you are probably talking about when Stoudemire knocked Ginobili down, underneath the basket, with just minutes to go. abc announcers were saying Ginobili flopped, but I disagree. Way he went down, quickly and hard, I don't think he was flopping. As for drawing charges, sadly, it's part of the game. :indiff: I've seen good floppers(Jon Barry, Derek Fisher, Vlade), Ginobili ain't it IMO.

Edit: Two more guys at work told me Ginobili's a flopper. :ouch: Of course, they were wrong, too. :D

Yeah! San Antonio beat the Suns tonight to finish the series(if you can call it that :sly: ), 101-95. 👍 Take that, Giancarlo! :P

I was playing ball tonight, so I didn't get to watch the game, but I've heard that Stoudemire had an MONSTER game. I like that kids' game 👍 , I just hope the Suns management will be patient with him and Joe Johnson. They have yet to reach their prime. Marion, Nash still has at least two more "good" years left in them, Q Richardson's still young and I love JJ(Jim Jackson/fmr Blazer).

Congrats, San Anton! TD, Tony Parker and Ginobili rocks! and I'm out!! :D

Right since the Spurs defense blows, the Pistons will win. The Spurs will give them a run for their money but I say Pistons in 6.
