Which book are you currently reading?

Just finished reading Eric Clapton's autobiography, pretty good but wish he went a little more in depth about the music.

Completely addicted!

Finished the first one yesterday and I'm starting Catching Fire today.

Bought the collectors box, currently still busy with the first book, but I'm going through it at quite a pace. Bit slower than reading a book in German, of course, but I wanted the original.

The Limit: Life and Death on the 1961 Grand Prix Circuit

Just finished this a couple days ago, would highly recommend it to any motorsport fan.👍

This will be my next book...

I've read a couple books from the Jack Ryan series and enjoyed them, so now I'm going to read them all in chronological order.

Chronological based on release date or events in the books? If you're starting with that book, then I guess it's the latter. I did the same thing a couple years ago, started with Without Remorse right through to Dead or Alive in a few months time. To me, Red Rabbit seemed out of place. It's written 15 years after Patriot Games and The Hunt for Red October were, and you can really see how his writing style changed.

I'm going by when the events happened, don't think I'll go through them that fast though as I will probably alternate other books in between or else I will get bored before I'm halfway through.

I would strongly suggest that you do this. I was moving along fine until I got about halfway through Executive Decision, then I hit a wall. Took around a month off, right in the middle of the book, I just couldn't read anymore.

I just started Steve Matchett's book, Life in the Fast Lane. He was a Benetton mechanic in the early 90s, and this book is his description of the 1994 F1 season, written as the season progressed. American F1 fans probably know Matchett from the broadcasts on SPEED/Fox and NBC. It finally made it to the US Kindle Store last week, so I picked it up. I've read one of his other books, The Mechanic's Tale, and it was really interesting so I thought I'd give this one a shot. Both books give a good look into what happens in the garages during the races and at the factory the rest of the year.

I'm reading Dan Browns new book Inferno.

Same here, only a couple of chapters through but good so far.

I've never read any of his books before, but I've read many many Scott mariani books which are the same sort of genre.

If you haven't read Mariani's stuff give it a try :)

Planning on picking up Inferno sooner than later, too. 👍

Is the book still pretty formulaic?

I found most of Dan Brown's book to actually be really predictable with the twist and the story. That really annoyed me when I read the third book of his and figured it all out. Read the fourth, not believing that he had a formula and was so disappointed when it was so predictable how the story unraveled.

My bed time reading now consists of a military wilderness survival hand guide in preparation for 3 months of jungle/ forest/ desert & urban camping.

Recently finished Peter Hamilton's Commonwealth Saga and Void Trilogy. Awesome space opera.

Currently on book three of Peter Brett's Demon Cycle. Solid fantasy.

I've got an interminable case of book ADD. I read part of a book and switch to another.

I'm currently reading:

God in Search of Man by Abraham Joshua Heschel
The Guide for the perplexed by Moses maimonides
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,
Lamb by Christopher Moore
Small Gods by Terry Pratchett

That looks pretty interesting, I think it might be worth getting. I'm a bit of a museum geek so I'm sure it'd be up my ally.

Thanks I'll have to try and get some of his books. Don't think I'll try the Vampire Federation series though, don't normally go for Vampires but I'll give the Ben Hope series a go.

Got done reading Without Remorse and just started reading Cannonball! by Brock Yates, having a hard time getting into it.

I don't know if you've read Alexander Roy's The Driver, you might enjoy that. You get the same sort of stuff that would be in a Cannonball run book, but it's really interesting and I blew through it in a couple days since it was so good.

Currently reading Stick and Rudder: An Explanation of the Art of Flying by Wolfgang Langewiesche. Required reading if you're into aviation at all.

That book is on my list of books to read.👍

Anyways, managed to finish Cannonball, not a suggested read, was hoping he would have went a little more in-depth than he did. Now I'm on to A Game of Thrones, figured I would see what all the fuss is about.

I'm currently reading a really fascinating book by Adam Makos entitled A Higher Call, subtitled An Incredible True Story of Combat and Chivalry in the War-Torn Skies of World War II. An account of a WW II German fighter pilot and the American bomber crew he encountered in the air.

HeirToTheEmpire.jpg

I just finished reading Heir to the Empire. Excellent stuff. 👍 Grand Admiral Thrawn is awesome. I will be starting the next book in the next few days. I really need to spend more time reading. This book took me much too long to read.

I picked up the Quran a few days ago. Interesting read, although, it's in English and not the original language.

The remakes are never as good. I'm surprised you're not reading books like 'How to Survive Bear Attacks', 'The Idiots Guide to Being Taken Hostage' and 'Coping with a Sore Arse'.

I've downloaded a few ebooks along the lines of 'How To Fix a Broken Friend', 'The hitch-hiker's Guide to Avoiding Hitch-hiking' and 'The Ten Best Ways To Avoid Cattle On Country Roads'.

Bad news for all the Tom Clancy fans in here, he died yesterday at age 66.
AP news article
There is still one more novel in the Jack Ryan series to look forward to, Command Authority is scheduled for release this December.
