Which car to use for the Gran Turismo World Championship?

Yes, I have used the search button, but as I saw most of the threads were very old, I thought I bring up a new one.

After not playing the game for 1 1/2 years, I tried it again yesterday and remembered why I had stopped.
The GTWC in Professional races. The best car I have got to date for the race is the AMG Mercedes CLK-GTR Race car 98, but as I have understood there are cars that suit this championship much better. Most of those aren't buyable as I see, so what should I go for?

Wrong choice. The threads might be old, but they hold the exact information you require - as the game is just as old.
