I just want the peoples opinion..Don't reply to other peoples opinions in this one and argue with their POV's and what not if they like something you don't, then they like something you don't...Hopefully some people will learn something

i know that the dett is the one in the skyline. the other one, I dont have an idea of what it is.

Cano

lezee what people say. about me not knowing what the hell is that second engine, that is. I know im probably the only one here that doesnt know it @@

I don't know a thing about the Skyline motor... so I'm not voting for now. If someone wouldn't mind providing technical specs on both of them I might vote.

Don't just vote, either, people. Actually give reasons why you chose which one you chose.

wow, my guess was right.still, i dont know a thing about them. I only know they are japanese and they have two turbos. thats all.

Cano

ill learn from what people say.

they both are very good engines
overall i would have to go with the 2JZ due to it displacemnt

i am suprised at the poll so far
i thought the RB26 would be infront due to all the GTR freaks

even know there are only 4 votes

I voted for the Supra engine because since it has a larger displacement, that means the parts are stressed less than the ones in the Skyline engine. From that conclusion, that means the Supra engine can be more reliable than the Skyline engine, assuming that the owner knows how to take care an engine. That's why I voted for the Supra engine. Reliability.

I could be wrong because the nature in these two engines could be different. Perhaps the Supra engine can have more vibration than the Skyline engine, or the Skyline engine may have a problem that the Supra engine doesn't. I don't know those details, but just comparing numbers, the Supra looks better on paper.

the RB26 is more of a revvy engine

i have also heard of people using the block and internals of an RB30 and putting the head, turbos, manifold etc of an RB26 on the RB30

making it 3.0litre, like the 2JZ

Viper....Technically the RB30 you're speaking of isn't the swapping of heads because the Nissan "Rb30" is a SOHC engine...The RB30 that is a stroked RB26 makes 600HP but is still just a worked RB26

I voted for the RB26DETT due to the airflow of the engine...The engine uses the air it obtains alot better than the 2jz...meaning it needs less forced air to make the same #'s as a 2jz-gte...OR the same amount and make more....That's in most cases..not all

Guess What I chose?........the skyline....DUH..I like the overall feel of the engine..the mass HP potential...optimised torque curve....and the way the engine interacts will all the aother features...ATTESA E-TS..Super HICAS....plus thanks to that cool little LCD in the R-34 you can tell exactly what is going on :D

i just heard somewhere with some modifications you could put the RB26 twin cam head on the RB30's(single cam engine) block

i have seen a few stroked RB26's though

LOL:lol:

thats just like having a mustang with a Chev motor in it

I'm going to vote for the 2JZ-GTE due to the slightly larger displacement.

Both motors have pro's and cons. I am treating this poll as though both motors are stock standard.

2JZ
Pros
3.0 litres - hard to beat displacement
ignition system is reliable
Very strong off the shelf - Bottom end reliability is second to none.
Loads of torque - good pull off boost

Cons
Uses a sequential turbo setup - not reliable at all
Low rev'ing - hinders future upgrades until it is sorted with major work.
Intake and exhaust setups not effecient
poor head design and cam profiles

RB26
Pro
Parralle turbo setup - hits boost quickly no problems with over boosting.
Head is one of Japan's best designed for flow
Extremely strong crank- factory billet
Intake and exhaust systems are designed for flow
Very high rev'ing (8,250 factory rev cut)

Cons
weak pistons for this great motor
Air flow meters are prone to failures
Weak valve springs and valve guides
Con rods only good to about 550hp
ceramic turbos- die easily
fuel injectors too small (IMO)

I still have to go with the RB26 overall. Out of the box it is a better motor. Both are great engines and you can find faults with either.

I don't know why I didn't think of/mention this in the beginning, but yeah the RB26DETT would be a better engine out of the box, The 1/4 times may be to the point that it's a drivers race, but on the road course, due to the RB26DETT's higher rev's it would have higher acceleration out of the corners due to it's greater leway in the RPM factor
