I can't think of a time, except for in this particular thread, that I've ever heard anyone complain about the 'airflow design' for a 2JZ-GTE.

I'm sure it's something that's really noticeable, really.

Josh.....Better airflow means better use of air..better use of air means more HP and less fluxtuation depending on climate

P.S. Before I switched ISP's..I spoke of the "poor plumbing" of the 2jz as compared to the RB26 in most oft he debates...Put it this way..If nissan had gotten ahold of the 2jz-GTE before Toyo produced it..it'd be alot better....

Are you sure?:odd: It was 5 for RB26, and 6 for 2JZ before you said, "i hate ceramic turbos," and now it's 6/6.

I know. I'm sure if the airflow was really a problem you could have something custom fabricated to your specifications, although that would probably be fairly expensive.

Look at the pro's and con's for each of the engine..They are very close engines and all..but repairing the cons for the Rb26DETT seem more practical..they are all replaceable parts..it's not easy to adjust the head design..nor is it easy to have it go from a low revving engine to a high revving engine....YEs there are setups that allow for it..but Even the titan motorsports 2jz can only handle 9,500..that's a mere 1000RPM over a RB26's Stock rev

if you read one of my previous posts on the first page i said there was only 4 votes and one was mine

when I menat weak they are not fragile but obviously weaker than steel wheels. They do how ever spool very quickly and the two flow 450hp so that is not all that bad.

one of my mates with a RPS13 180sx, its got an sr20 and he uped the boost 15-17 psi(he has a large front mount intercooler) the standard t25 ceramic wheel **** it self

its never happened to me, but i have heard of this happened to many other people aswell

Thats odd about the S13. I've never seen a Silvia/180sx/200sx with a ceramic turbo or a T25 for that matter on it factory. The SR20DET used a T28 turbo which had steel wheels factory. Even the ones that came with the CA18DET used steel wheels.

His friend must have baught a modded one...I've also never seen a Silvia/180/240 with a Ceramic turbo.....stock or aftermarket

I chose the RB26DETT....Doesn't the 2JZ have some sort of BHG (Blown Head Gasket) problem? Theres even a website for fixing them somewhere...

I know the 7MGTE has a problem with BHG's, but I wasn't aware of the 2JZ-GTE having similar problems.

Ive driven the R-34 skyline and a supra TT....I've also been in a 9 sec 89...supra...it was sweet but then he (the owner) had to go and total it...very sad... overall I like the skyline's feel better

maybee cause some people dont know what a skyline is.....EVERYBODY knows what a supra is thanks to F&F and once the 2nd one comes out EVERYBODY is gonna want a skyline....so rich kids will buy em all and there wont be any left for me :(

Lol...What we need to do..is keep this post Somewhat near the top..So when 2f2f comes out...it can blow up in favorof the RB

S15's have T28's with steel wheels
early sr20's use T25's with ceramic wheels

That is weird. I belong to the NIZAN drift and drag club, and their weapons of choice are all Silvia's from 88 - 2002. All the SR20DET powered S13's, the S14 and S15 all have steel wheel T28's. The CA18DET's all a slightly smaller version of the T28 since there are quite a few different AR housings and wheel combinations. Remember T28's and T25's are very simular where as it is the turbine flange that donates the turbo more over than the actual size. Some T28's such as those found on the GTR are ceramic but, others are steel. I made a quick phone call to Francsis who lives and breathes the Silvia and he also confirmed it as did my renter who another siliva fanatic.

To my knowledge the only vehicle Nissan ever produced that use a ceramic turbo was the Nissan Skyline series, and they were T28's (really T25 size with T28 flanges) on the GTR, and the T3 found on the GTSt, GTS4 were ceramic, T3's GTS25-t's (R33) which used ceramic in the series one and plastic poly on the Series two.

Both are good motors however, I would choose the Nissan. The blocks are VERY overengineered. The SR20 that seems to be the topic of discussion as a case in point, in NA form makes in the neighborhood of 160 HP. But it is engineered to make about 5 times as much HP without any modification of the bottom end.
The SR26 and SR28 are designed and built by the same folks...
I don't know too much about the Toyota. But I know that the old MR-2 is powered by a Camry engine. I have also read that it can reliably have its horsepower doubled with little problem.
