GT6 and Sport. The world map menu is nostalgic and all that, but from a navigation and ease of use perspective it's not great. GT6 and Sport just keeps things simple, and focuses on getting to the track as quickly as possible. GT5 is also reasonably linear but it gets very very slow once you have lots of cars in the garage.

I do wish we can free roam the world map in GT7 though. Not quite Forza Horizon but good enough :P

Made a similar thread years ago and GT4 and 6 won by a long shot, of course there was no Sport or 7 then. Will be interesting to see how the votes turn out this time around.

I'm gonna go with GT5 and 7. GT5 always felt like a "premium" (if slow) experience for me and 7 just takes that up 10 notches. I don't have a PS5 yet but I'm sure it's lightning fast there as well. Guess I'm too easily-pleased by bells and whistles. :P

GT4 was awesome in that you could go directly into the country from the main menu. Only 1 click and you were there. With GT Sport, you had to click on Brand Central, then the area (America, Europe, Asia), then the manufacturer. WAY too many clicks just to get to the cars. GT7 replicated this, and it's still annoying. HOWEVER, it's much quicker. That said, GT Sport was very clean looking with smaller menus that are off to the side or at the top. But, again, it made for more clicks and more time to get anywhere.

I did like the look of the menu in GT5 when they went to the boxes instead of icons; but GT4 was still cooler.

For the top spot, I'd have to give it to GT4. After that, GT7, simply due to the speed of navigation.

Best to worst (haven't played the PS1 games):

GT3
GT6
GT Sport
GT5
GT7 (could get a lot better if they add some much needed shortcuts)
GT4 (number 1 when it comes to style, though)

Less is more.

GT4 and GT7 for me too, didn't like menus in GT5 and GT6. (too slow).
Honestly for menu i'm just looking for speedy interaction with icons, not much graphics.
GT4 was fastest but maybe it's because I played on emulator, forgot when I still had the PS2 if it was fast or not.

Voted 5 and Sport, but I don't really remember if 5 was slow or not I just like the layout.

GT7 on PS4 certainly doesn't have super fast menus.

GT4 is quite nostalgic for me so I chose that one. Having it all scattered looks messy but I think it worked.
Yes, everything had its own spot and - once you've played enough to roughly know what's where - it's a good thing.

(I just want to note that it's a highly subjective opinion!)

Upon further thought, I switched GT7 to GT3.
And the sole reason for that is the tuning shop of GT7. It should be divided by parts, not by quality. If I want to tune the engine, I don't want to go through each category to see if I got everything
Is there a way to change the car in the tunning shop without having to go back to the garage?
Can´t find one.

It's hard to choose because they all have their own charm and the old ones obviously bring back memories of nostalgia but none of them were particularly good from a UX point of view. For a start they've nearly always had a cursor navigation system despite using a controller, and they've always been messy and convoluted in some way.

I still think on the whole the old ones were better though, because they were simpler, mainly by virtue of having less features. The main menu maps were all over the place and you had to remember what was where but once you got into them, everything was mostly logically laid out and easy to access. Since 5 there has been so many menus and they're not logically linked, forcing you to back in and out of a dozen menus just to do something simple like changing your car.

Visual wise I really like GT5 and GT7's, but I voted for Sport due to how easy it was to navigate.
