Holden Commodore SS [AUS]
Ford Falcon XR6 [AUS]
Chevy Impala SS [USA]

Toyota Chaser [JPN]
Alfa Romeo 156 GTA [ITA]
Bentley Arnage Red Label [GBR]
Chrysler 300M Special [USA]
Honda Accord Type-R/Euro-R [JPN]

These above, are the best sports sedans in the world, the problem is.................which?

Hmmm... I wouldn't honestly know... I certainly like the looks of the Jag, but haven't a clue on the actual drive, though C/D didn't have exactly the highest praise for it...

BTW, didn't C/D report that the 300M Special is actually slower than the 300M?

The 300M is too ugly. And some of these I am not familiar with.
Btw, the S-type is not a design to be proud of, though not as bad as Jaguars F1 performance.

what about the Jaguar XJ-R this is going down as one the greatest and classic models

Woops... I totally missed the M5 :embarrassed: That gets my top vote

BTW, where's Audi?

I would vote the RS6 Avant the best all-round car. If you said to me I could have any car in the world, but it had to be my only car, it would be the RS6, without even a flicker of hesitation.

But we're talking about sedans/saloons, so I'll let myself off with voting for the M5! (Phew)

The S-Type R is good, but still doesn't beat the M5.

The S-Type R was on 5th Gear on the telly here this week. The supercharger whine on it is REALLY loud. That would wind me up!

Could you hear it in the car as well Giles?

That's what I mean - the reporter was driving the car, and talking about it at the same time. It was almost like he was having to shout over the whine. OK, so he was giving it something of a kicking at the time, but you couldn't hear the engine at all over that damn whining!

And that's in a Jaguar, a car supposed to be refined? Did they say if it was a pre production or full production model they were testing?

I think it's a full production car. I've seen a couple on the roads, so I guess there's real one knocking about.

I was really surprised about it too. The reviewer liked it, but said it was nowhere near as good as an M5, which was 4 seconds quicker around the Goodwood circuit (same day, same driver), and that it really needed a limited slip diff.

Lol, with 400 odd bhp I'd say an LSD was pretty important too! What did they think of the handling?

Can't honestly remember. I do remember that they were fairly impressed with the car as a whole, so it can't have been that bad. I just think that Tiff was underwhelmed with the Limited Slip thing, and that that coloured his opinion of the car as a whole.

ok here's 1 the Damiler super 8 .. to those of you unaware of this its a the damiler version of the Jaguar XJR but with a little more to start with its $38,000 more 125mm longer and 15 mm higher rear head room and 91 mm more rear leg room as a better sound system it has 375 hp compared to the jaguars 370 hp and only has 4 seats so it has all the go of the XJR but with more luxury and if that doesnt wet your apitite latter this year the replacement for the current XJ 300 series will be relaced near the end of this year the XJ350 will be an all alloy body which means it will weigh less than the current S Type and will be fitted with the new up graded 4.2 litre super charged engine in the in R model
attched below is the Damiler super 8

Impala SS is the best one I've been in. It's got some power in it. My friend has one. That thing can go.

I'm sorry if I forgot the Jag XJ-R, XJ-8, Infiniti M45, 2004 Lexus LS500, Volkswagen Phaeton W12, Mazda 6 & Millenia. If I could edit the poll, I would have adjusted the poll choices by now. :)

BTW the sedans mention above met the criteria above that are luxurious, powerful, smooth-driving, high-priced, medium to large size, higher model sedans. That why I didn't include some smaller homoglation pocket rockets.
