Hi !

Which car manufacturer from Japan was the most succesful in racing history?

Also, do you think it is fair when BMW or Mercedes are going to make it in the game with, lets say 15 cars each (although it is already better), when Toyota and Nissan will each have around 60 or so. I think skylines are important, but when you get 30 of them , most of which look indentically the same and even performance does not differ greatly?

Thanks !

I'd go with Nissan. The Skyline became a legend over there... still is really, although its getting a little dated.

...for me it´s clear---->T-O-Y-O-T-A!!!!!!
the supra(leading in tuning and JGTC-segment cuz it´s the best car in JGTC and the most tuned car on earth!) and the GT-One of course(leading in the Le Mans and "filigran and revolutionary cars-segment"---a beatiful monsterrrr!!)

GT-One Lover
...BLABLABLA and the GT-One of course(leading in the Le Mans and "filigran and revolutionary cars-segment"---a beatiful monsterrrr!!)
right,
that´s why the japanese manufacturer dominate Le Mans. :ouch:

i´d suggest to clear you mind and stop making any german forum member feeling ashamed when it has to reads the BS you are posting.
if not, then do this favour at least to me;
nothing against fanboyism but too much is simply too much.

to the original topic,
that´s a pretty complex question.
if you think of world wide racing, i´d tend to say Mazda, since it´s the only japanese manufacturer that managed to win Le Mans, back in 1991 methinks.
if you take a look at the JGTC, well, i think you know where to find the stats.

You guys are too fucused on one car, and these cars dont make the manufacturer(niether car is produced any more). But I'd go with Nissan for its entire(Japanes and North american) line up. Second would be toyota since they are the only two that bring the most variety in vehicals. Skylines and supras didnt make the companies what they are otherwise those cars would be popular world wide and they wouldnt have so many kinds of cars.

id say either toyota or nissan. but maybe more toyota, not cause i own one. i just look at the line up of cars they have in general.

Damn! Flinx brings the pain! :scared:

Like he said, it's a complex question.

Mazda did win the LeMans in 1991...the only Japanese car to have ever done this. They also have a very successful Star Mazda series.

Toyota has a very strong presence in Formula One, and compteted this year in the Craftsman Truck series. They are actually ahead of Ford in the Manufacturer's Standings. They also supply engines to the IRL and are the first foreign competitor in the NHRA, and competeted in the Rolex Grand Am in the Daytona Prototype catagory.

In the racing world only? Honda or Nissan. Nissan for it's involvement in JGTC and other races that involve the use of the skyline, and Honda for Formula 1. Most successful otherwise is by FAR Toyota..they make a killing in the consumer market.

right,
that´s why the japanese manufacturer dominate Le Mans

actually mazda used a rotary engine and dominated the le mans race the following year they banned the use of rotary engines. this sort of behaviour anoys me as they cant take any compitition. this is what happen in australia with the bathurst. the v8's were wining the race until ford decided to put a seira cosworth in to race which dmoinated the race and was eventually baned skyline also came in and dominated race after race. also i would back gt one's statment that the supra is the most modified car in the world, this is not a stupid statment as i have seen huge amounts of modified supras all around the world. face it japanese cars rule.

Honda was VERY VERY successful in F1 when McLaren was with them.

In fact, before McLaren called BMW to supply an engine for the F1 car, they called on Honda. Honda could not, so BMW did it.

NO..........ITS NOT FAIR :( :banghead:

At least they have a decent range of BMWs this time around.......

But I highly doubt if they will have a good selection of past model BMWs or Mercs.

There maybe some but I doubt a healthy selection. :grumpy:

toyota is the single most successfuly japanese car manufacturer
all other ones are owned by a larger company
i know for a fact that mazda is owned by ford
but im not sure about nissan

but toyota in terms of cars people buy is the most successful

i'd say Honda is....afterall look at all the riced out civics! toyota is next followed by nissan, mazda, mitsubishi, subaru...in that order too....that's my 2 cents! :)

"Japanese" is a very derogatory word

i'd have to say toyota considering all different aspects. they are the best company of "the japanese 3" that is still 100% independant.

Through the history of motor racing, including 2 and 4 wheels, for as long as Japanese makes have been involved (40+ years) it has to be Honda.

Toyota is the largest Japanese manufacturer in the world, but Honda is the most widespread in sports. Honda is into boat racing, F1, touring cars, motorcycles, almost everything, and their engines are used by other smaller manufacturers for their sportscars. Toyota on the otherhand is greatly expanding their motorsports horizons, entering into NHRA and NASCAR, but they still have no bike history or anything along those lines.

mazda, for having the rotary engine and making it work efficiently, although not too reliable, but you get the point.
