Be careful to admitting to too much. There are parts of the rules that remove people with too much racing experience.

From the rule book:
Contestants must not have previously held a National A or superior MSA license or equivalent in another Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) recognized ASN and not have competed in a national level Karting Championship for more than two full seasons.

Luckily just some SCCA Solo II experience from about 10 years ago for me...

Hey Choate51 - gonna send you a friend request today or tomorrow if it's cool... I've got some practicing to do and it sounds like you've got a pretty good grip on this round...

:dopey: If it puts me in a real race car than so be it brotha!

Before you get in a real car you race using GT5 with stewards watching. So, it won't.
At best it will get you a trip to Orlando.

I'm not worried... Firstly I doubt I'll get past the first round. Secondly, whether you admit it or not, the racing community is small and tight knit, if you don't tell them about a license you have they will find it anyway.

Also I am pretty sure mine does not qualify at the level they are excluding.

I got tons of twisty road experience but actual racing.....one event this past november auto cross. Came in first in c stock with my miata. :P

Oh good lord...

Thanks for setting me straight.

Just kidding Dapper - I was just expressing my excitement... I've been waiting for a US GT Academy for 2 years so even if it doesn't get me to Orlando I'm happy... Use to be very competitive in Solo II (years ago) and I have some amateur experience hot lapping Mid Ohio. Never had the funding to follow my dream when I was younger so any chance is one I have to take.

I'd say I've given the racing dream a real shot and came up short by a few hundred thousand dollars...

...the digital stuff is still a little difficult for me, but hey, its the same for everyone right?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Nice read. I thought thats how it is. It's all about the money and then there is the pressure to win and the stress that would take the fun out of it for me.
Good luck to you with the GT Academy. :)

Hello to all,

Just signed up.. had been a hard core GT follower since 99'.

I can almost say I setup my life around GT :) tons of play time and hit the track back in 07 for the 1st time with just GT experience, no other training or whatsoever. Since then, did about 7-8 track weekends a year in socal.

Its hard not to have the road feedback in the game, so props to those who can drive at limits with just visual & sound feedback...

this was at subiefest 2010, you can tell I'm not the best driver, but I will fight hard !

I've got about 8 auto-x events that I've done in the last 3 years. This year I'm going to split my time between auto-x and a few rally-x events. I'll also try to get in at least 1 HPDE. I'm in ESP with an '05 WRX.

Some Spec Miata racing here. A bit of experience HPDEing a Z06, 350Z, a couple of Miatas, K24 Integra race car, and some driver instructing. Before that a couple of years AX... but that was like 6 years ago.

I'm decent in real life but not so much in the game.

Here's a little video from about a year ago... http://www.vimeo.com/10301066

My favorite pass ever at 7:30.... 2 fer 1 haha.

I have raced at the drag strip many times but thats about it. I would like to get a car to mess around with at Palm Beach International (about 45minutes from me) here in FL. Never had any good road courses in Mass near where i used to live.

They are building one in Palmer, but like anything - it's slow... Permits, construction, and cash flow are slow. Good news is NHMS is just 80 minutes from Boston and Lime Rock Park isn't too far from Western Mass.

What's crazy is that there are no real auto-x sites in Eastern Mass. Fort Devens is the closest I know of. I would LOVE to be corrected on this one...

There used to be a really fun road in mass, it was called the "fire road". It was off Rt16 in Uxbridge and would end a block from Thompson Speedway. It was about 12-14 miles of paved/unpaved roads and I think I saw 10 cars on it in the 6 years I used the road.

This is information I could have used when trying to heat cycle the v710's I picked up off a kid who failed to utilized TireRack's heat cycling service...

I have crashed 2 cars, hard on that road. Both times my inner Colin Mcrae came out, but I didn't quite have the talent lol.

Leave the racing to the track! That's how you get someone killed.

Do as I say, not as I do, right?
And thanks for making my insurance rates a little bit higher, too.

The roads were snow covered and the road was technically blocked off from the public due to some well placed trucks and stolen signs! Cars that were crashed were not insured or licensed!

I do autoX in my Civic Hatch.
Road Course at Hallett, Barber, Eagles Canyon, Texas World, and a couple others on my GSXR 750. About to go for a CMRA license.

Also have done a guest track round in my buddies RS2.5

Lots of twisty backroad driving and riding.
