I saw it at the ottawa car show. I sat in it and , you can't see anything out of it and, it's ugly as hell! Personally I would rather them bring back the old style. Just my two cents.

;) Me too.

I also saw it (and sat in it) at the Ottawa show. I was not really impressed at all. The only think that's special about it is that it is rear wheel drive. Otherwise, it's pretty much like every other sedan out there. But I think what kills the car for me is the lack of a manual transmission.

And if you ask me, they should have made it a coupe.

I knew about the coupe not being available, but no manual transmission either? Why even bother with the Charger name?

My problem with the new Charger is that it doesn't look like a Charger. The stock car version looks better than the street version.

What ever happened to the Charger Concept? Now, that looks like a Charger. 👍

It's not all bad, but i've yet to see it in person.

It just looks a little bland is all. I thought it was a Magnum when i first saw it. And that's a very bad thing.

I've seen some in shows and on the road (yay living in Detroit where you can see any car on the road months before it's for sale!), and I can't like it. Just...doesn't look right. You could call it anything, not just Charger, and I wouldn't like it.

Now the Magnum and 300, that's more like what I'm talking about.

ah yes. they're allready talking about how the revived charger is gonna end up being another Grocery Getter. the usual argument about the "modernized retro" appearance (a la the new Mustang) not working applies here as well. but, then again, american automotive manufacturers have been thinking "truck" for 10 years, so they're kinda design rusty. nobody likes the 80's semi aero design except me, and people are disgusted over the 90's "ultimate Jellybean" Aerodesign.

I think it would be best of the General, Ford, and DC let the PUBLIC pic the design THEY want.

I don't mind the car, I just don't think calling it "Charger" was the right decision.
My thoughts exactly. I think a different name would have been better.

And I think the Charger Concept should have been made!
Because in MC3, if it sounds that way in real life, that would have been a Charger!

I noticed nobody's posted a real shot of the car yet, so...

Isn't that one of the bigger more powerful versions? Like the SRT model?

I like the SRT model. Its wonderful looking. But again, the name doesn't fit the car.

The Charger is ok, I really think they should have made it more like the concept version though. Sure it's fast and what not, but I still think I would take the GTO over it. But what's in store for Ford now? The Fairlane .

Yes, the top 2 are the SR/T and the bottom is the R/T. I must say it doesn't look half bad as an SR/T. But still isn't a Charger, i agree. It's too muscular.

Apparently so; it's just a station wagon now. :)

It was a sedan in the old days, right?

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

I would also go with that Charger concept! :embarrassed: 👍 It have sport car features! :embarrassed: Unlike the four door version with some resemblance to the Magnum. :yuck:

Well if the GTO wasn't considered muscular enough for American buyers, there's no chance of that happening with this charger design! It looks a bit overdone to me, like its trying too hard to be tough. It somehow doesn't seem long enough or wide enough to have the 'brooding bad boy' look of the old chargers. The old charger still looks better, its cleaner and the sheer 'hugeness' of it's proportions give it a meaner presence.

It looks like the designers (of the new one) used a few design cues from the old car, but didn't address the basic proportions of the thing. It looks too short and generally, too similar to the Mustang's kinda proportions (too short overhangs, not low or wide enough stance). Thats the main thing keeping it looking like a charger IMO.

Its still a decent looking car muscle car, but certainly not a charger... A coupe version would go a long way toward the correct proportions, lengthening the doors, making it appear cleaner etc..

I think that that car looks quite nice and it is probably a nice car but as already mentioned, it doesn't deserve the name Charger.
If it was a swoopy coupe then maybe, but as it stands, it is a 4-door car which doesn't look enough different from the Magnum and the 300C to be a whole new model. Especially seeing as it is still a sedan.
Are there any plans for a 2 door?

considering they tried to make a Marauder for Merc out of a Grand Marq...don't be suprised.

as any of out Ozzie members would tell you, Falcon and Galaxie are alive and well down under...tho sticking the galaxie name on a clone of what looks like windstar, freestar or Villager, is an insult to the name....at least it'ds the same SIZE as the original Galaxie :P

I wouldn't mind an Oz Falcon up here, personally. get rid of these bugly focuses (foci?)

Well, I bet you all. You wouldn't hate the car as much if it was under a different name.....say Dodge intrepid, avenger? Maybe they'd suit the car much more. Rather than using the name charger that you all would call sacreligious.

No, then the car would just be ugly.

So a car's name can totally change its appearance?

I never said that.

A GTO has, and always should be a performance vehicle regardless of who makes it. If it was a GTO it would be a slow ugly POS Dodge. If it was something else, it would just be a ugly POS Dodge. See the difference?

Ya GTO wasn't first used by Pontiac, if I'm not mistaken it was first used by Ferrari. In fact I'm pretty sure GTO stands for Grand Touring Races or something along those lines.

If they would have called the Charger something else, it would have failed since it's just a family sedan. They should have made the concept and called it the Charger.

And yes the names of the car affects the way people buy it. If it didn't then all cars would be named like the Benz's. I mean if you had no idea what car was associated with the name what would sound cooler? Accord or Corvette. It's all in a name.

GTO is Gran Turismo Omologato. I think it means, something to do with race or race car. I know it's Italian, but I don't know what it means.

Edit: Also, the oldest car named GTO for me was the Ferrari, also. :)
