Who else hates new Charger?

PS
I never said that.

A GTO has, and always should be a performance vehicle regardless of who makes it. If it was a GTO it would be a slow ugly POS Dodge. If it was something else, it would just be a ugly POS Dodge. See the difference?

Touché.

GTO is Gran Turismo Omologato. I think it means, something to do with race or race car. I know it's Italian, but I don't know what it means.

Edit: Also, the oldest car named GTO for me was the Ferrari, also. :)

It basically means that the 250 GTO was the road version of the racing car, since a certain amount of road cars had to be built before the race version was eligible for races. This is called Homologation, which is where Omologato comes from.

Holy crap! So, GT-One road car would qualify as a GTO? Thanks for the info, Revheadnz!(I had to copy/paste your name! :ill: ).

i like the styling mostly, but the proportions are bit wrong, should be lower and sleeker, definately longer front end from the glass house to the front

Ya GTO wasn't first used by Pontiac, if I'm not mistaken it was first used by Ferrari. In fact I'm pretty sure GTO stands for Grand Touring Races or something along those lines.

If they would have called the Charger something else, it would have failed since it's just a family sedan. They should have made the concept and called it the Charger.

And yes the names of the car affects the way people buy it. If it didn't then all cars would be named like the Benz's. I mean if you had no idea what car was associated with the name what would sound cooler? Accord or Corvette. It's all in a name.

That was a faux pas on my account, I keep getting the two (Charger and GTO, and even Chevelle) mixed up. But yes, GTO has been used by Ferrari and Pontiac, and I'm pretty sure one other manufacturer.

It's actually Gran Turismo Omologato. (I believe that's the spelling)

Translates as "Grand Touring Homologated"

it would have been if they followed on from the charger III

i suppose it would have been a corvette challenger then 👍

That oddly looks like the Mazda RX-500 supercar that never made production.

Well, I saw my first 2006 Charger in the metal yesterday, and I remain convinced. I like it just as much IRL as in the pictures, even though it was a plain jane 3.5 V6 model in dark coppery paint. I like it better, even, and I want a V8-powered one in Limelight Green with a black hood and AAR stripes (yes, I'm mixing my Mopars). It looked tough, but roomy and comfortable, and it was stickered under $28k.

If I was interested in a car that size I would definitely drive one to see what it felt like.

Are they offering an AWD model since the Magnum has one? I would definatly think about one if they were all wheel drive since Michigan winter completely own RWD cars.
