I was a sixaxis runner for a long time, now I have a DFGT, while I am still getting used to it and I am still faster with a sixaxis, the wheel is a lot more fun and that is the most important thing to me.

Sixaxis/DS3 user here, although not D-pad driver. Analog steer, R2 throttle, L2 brake. Works decently.

+1. In past GT's I used the "X" for throttle, and square for brake. But I love the new L2/R2 buttons for gas and brake.

SIXAXIS POWER!!! :grumpy: You G25s and playseats makes me wanna kick it out the window... specially doing TT against the top dudes:ouch: Who knows what can happen in a near future :sly:

I'm surprised to hear that some of you quick guys are using the D-pad and/or buttons!

...so, that's your secret? :P

Guys maybe get this? It's a 5 DOLLAR add on.
real-triggers_5913.jpg

It will help the people who like to use TRIGGERS as gas and brake.

It is called RealTriggers
I bought the ADD on from AMAZON for 5 dollars.. *5 dollars to deliver* UGH! I'll get it on Wednesday. All it does it slips on the OLD buttons and makes them Less slippery.

But I hear you can find it in local gaming stores, My did not have it..

If some of you guys PREFER to have new controller with triggers just like XBOX.. I would suggest NYKO ZERO PlayStation 3 controller.

*it is not my pic*

It uses Xbox Style Triggers.. It's 30 dollars, has all the vibration and SixAxis
The triggers are really good they say (reviewers)
I was about to buy one.. but I already purchased a Porsche RS wheel, so the 5 dollar add on was cheaper.

No problem
I found it by luck not so long ago.
I was getting frustrated because my fingers were slipping whenever I play Motorstorm: PR
So I wanted to buy third party controller, I found this NYKO zero PS3, looks promising.. then I see link for the realtriggers and for 5 dollars it sold me :)

I have seen the L2 and R2 trigger add-ons in my 'local' PC World (Bristol, UK).

The D-pad's on those Nyko controllers look horrendous! :) Interesting though, thanks for posting.

Those add triggers look awesome, my current sixaxis wears on my hands after a couple of races just trying to manage the triggers.

My layout is:

Accelerator=R2
Brake=L2
Steer=left joy stick
Shift Up=up on right joy stick
Shift Down=down "
R3=brings up car adjustments
dpad=manages/navigates car adjustments
look left/right= right joy stick (left and right)

As much as i'd prefer a wheel i couldnt settle for less than G25 and I really don't want to spend that money yet, maybe once 5 comes out

That's the exact same configuration I use on my DS3.

Agree with your comments. Here's my button config.

L2 brake / R2 throttle
L1 downshift / R1 upshift
Left stick steer left&right, up/down does nothing, L3 ghost toggle
Right stick look left&right, up reverse, down nothing, R3 park brake
Select for in-game adjustment menu on/off, D-pad navigates that menu
Square/Circle look left/right, X look back, Triangle change view

I used SIXAXIS until 1 month ago, and changed for a G25. The learning curve can be steep, but as someone mentioned on a different forum, the main difference is that with a controller you play GT5P, with a wheel you drive in GT5P

By the way, for those who doesn´t have space for your wheels, you should check out wheel stands as the wheel stand pro, or the fanatec rennsport wheel stand...I have the first one and works perfect for me.

I know this is SiXaXiS thread, but some of you guys should consider getting a wheel. I never really use PS3 pads for GT5Prologue. Since Day one I've use the G25. In fact I prefer wheel over the pad is that I bought my third wheel Porsche GT3 RS wheel to even give me more and better feedback.

Just like Lyvan mention, you DRIVE and not PLAY. Wheel adds so much realism, and the force feedback it gives you immerses you into a racing SIM game. It's like you are missing half the experience with the pad. Don't go rush on buying wheels now, maybe save up for full GT5 game?

By the way, the real trigger mod should arrive today. I'll write a lil bit of how it feels and what I think about the product

I still use my sixaxis (well, DS3 now) and my controller setup is the same as it was back in the PS1 days:
X = Throttle
Square = Brake
Triangle = Reverse
Circle = Handbrake
Left Analogue Stick = Steering
R1 = Look right
R2 = Change up a gear
L1 = Look left
L2 = Change down a gear
Directional Button Up = Bring up Live Dynamics
Directional Button Down = Look behind
L3 = Live Dynamics, - value
R3 = Live Dynamics, + value

I also still have the right analogue stick for throttle and braking and the directional buttons for steering, but I don't use them.

My reason for not getting a wheel yet is because I haven't needed one, I don't have the money to throw about and although there is space, its not practical, at least not till I live under my own roof rather than my parents.

OK got it around noon.
Easy to install.. HUGE improvement in GRIP and FEEL!
REALLY recommended!

I have "played" all GT games with a controller using the D pads and buttons. I tried a wheel years ago, but didn't have a good, stable platform to attach it to. I have used a controller ever since.

I would love to get a good wheel and seat combo, but I just can't see dropping that much coin on it.

Is the Wheel Stand Pro stable? I tend to use a little body english when I use the controller.

I've had the triggers for months i got them for free from where i work (hmv) when they first came out and they are really good at what they do.
