I was just playing GTR Evolution the other day, and I love how you can stall the engine if you're not careful enough, and have to start it up again. I started thinking that it might be a cool feature for GT5 to have, of course only when playing with with clutch :).

It shouldn't be a hard thing to add if they recorded the ignition sounds of the cars. Would really add to the realism of the game and I´d just love to hear those big V10/V12 engines start up

Sorry if this subject has come up before, I tried searching but found nothing, so feel free to lock this thread if it is an old subject :).

I do like the feature in GTR Evolution, but I feel its not needed in GT and is just a bit of eye candy. I want PD to get the basics like damage, weather and day/night cycles right first...

This is getting ridiculous now, what are you guys going to suggest next, checking your oil and water before getting in the car? making sure your MOT is up to date on your cars before going on any of the road tracks, maybe you have to find the keys you misplaced in the garage before the race, maybe there should be speed cameras to avoid and a congestion charge has to be paid in advance before going on the London track.

It's all going to lead to trouble when the game comes out and people will be moaning as they cant enjoy the game any more as there's too much in there to worry about or they cant get round the track without ruining the handling with the damage and aggressive AI.

LMFAO....People always take it to the extreme

I WILL NOT buy GT5 unless there is an option to purchase a racing suit that suits me.
Boots too. I want to choose.
And if I cannot adjust the height and position of my seat, no thanks GT5.

It would add something extra at the start of a race. Imagine that you stall your engine and need to start it up again and try to gain your lost ground back.

Whoa, ease off guys .. I never said that this is a neccesary feature, but that it might be kinda cool, that´s it.

Most of these comments are just ridiculous 👎

EDIT: The orginal post was more of a general wondering, as I realize that this feature won't be in the game.

What about the ability to open the fuel flap... and if you don't time it right your pit stop takes longer...

C.

Oh come one, this is a feature some other games have, so I just started wondering..

I do admit that some of these comments are kinda funny, but considering that the starter/ignition feature IS used in games, I just don't see the point..

i like the feature in GTr evo, stalling and starting up again. It is a proper SIM though with all the stuff we want from GT5...its amazing the way a 2 year old game is still the business. Can't understand why GT5 can't have everything Evo has and a lot more besides

I think it would be nice to hear the sound of the engine starting at the start of each race.
This could actually be done automatically by the game, with a simple script. No need for us to push any button.

FInally some serious answers :). Yes, the GTR games are great, with all those little touches. It's a very simple feature that I´d love to have in GT5, although we practicly know that it won't be there.

This options its already in GTR Evo and i very like it.

And the answer is no, i just want the simple GT, like the previous ones.

If I could get this sound on GT5, I don't mind starting and shutting down my car every now and then just to hear the sound

I guarantee that if this feature is rolled out with GT5, all the sarcasmophiles will be clogging the forums with "WOW YOU CAN STALL YOUR CAR!" threads.

Personally I think the Real Driving Simulator will benefit from this realism -

Pit stops: "Agh I stalled, that hot inlap is now worthless!"

Spin off: "Agh I stalled, race over!"

Start: "Agh I stalled, that pole lap is now worthless!"

End: "Agh I stalled, now il be late for the podium"

very right! and lol at the last comment 👍

Would be kinda cool, I guess. If only to hear the sound at the start of the race.

I certainly wouldn't mind the feature -- I feel like the ability to stall a car is a very real and important aspect to driving. It won't happen often once you get the hang of it.

GT5P already has a decent simulation when you use a clutch since it will 'stall' on you if you let the clutch out too fast without any gas. I don't see why having to press an 'Engine start' button would be a huge pain.

I say: not a bad thing to implement in GT6. As for GT5 -- let's just focus on that March release date!

I don't think that it is a dump feature to have. It would make game play more realistic. It's just take a game is just a game and can't always replicate things in real life 100%. Driving the real thing, is always more fun anyway. If everyone here was given 5 years to obtain their dream/super car...how would you go about doing it? Can it even be possible?
