I wonder if the original version with the english subtitles will have the gay new names like Iggy instead of Itsuki?

Oohhh. Good. I was starting to get worried.

I think the original version will be the best. The english version will be butchered with rap music if you watched the preview. I forgot where I got it, but the preview sucked, with rap music as its background music. I wish you luck if they use that kind of music. If you want to see the preview, I will upload it to the FTP so you guys can download. You need Quicktime to view it.

hey that'd be awesome if you'd upload it. I'd consider buying the US series if it was cheaper..but for $29 for 3 episodes...**** THAT! I'd rather watch it with subtitles for free :D

just download them and be done with it :P they put RAP on initial D???? oh god...help ..me...:( it only makes sense though, as rap is mainstream. you see rap on nickelodeon, as well as most commercials :( they butched the names, and now they butchered the music. frankly i dont want to see the americanized version.

btw i just put all my files on kazaa. if you wanna download any of the episodes (or various other racing videos) im DriftKing@KaZaA ;)

im scared of that too. All of a sudden its going to be a "pokemon craze" all over again, that would just kill everything and piss me off to eternity:irked:  :banghead: 🤬 :grumpy:

initial d coming to the US is very bad...it'll become like a pokemon thing and tokyopop has changed initial d a lot..they are aiming it at kids that are younger..around 8-12 and therefore are gonna eliminate the language and change the names to so that they are easier to pronounce...they haev supposedly changed the music into some childish rap crap..(rhymes  ) also..tokyopop has announced a trading card game for it..so basically they trying to make another pokemon..can you imagine a trading card game for intial d? all these n00bs out there claiming that they are masters of the drift cause they are good at the game..lol i activate drift and defeat you...tokyopop has destroyed the image of initial d..they've made some pretty big errors...saying that the FC3S is actually the FC35...and many technical errors..and the voices have no character in 'em..it's just another job..unlike in japanese...i'm very unhappy that it's come to this..hopefully if they release 4th stage it wont' be associated with tokyopop..:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

There are only 5 released so far, so I'm assuming he's just talking about those. 6th might be out now actually, I'm not sure, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Alright, good. I actually havn't read any of the books yet because I've already seen up to episode 14.

initail d in us,omg ,every guy like it well say i know everything on drifting, damn damn, and trading cards?haha it well be like some drivers card and cars card so if you put takumi and the ae86 ii well be the best haha

omg I hate Tokyopop.....
I just recently came back from Anime-Expo in Anaheim. They were showin off the cards.....they're sooo stupid
They're just gonna ruin the name of Shuichi Shigeno (is dat how u spell it?) with names like Tak, Iggy, and Hawk.....good god
I wish i could just slap the people who thought of changing almost everything in the series.

why not just download it for free like I did like 2 years ago? I have both series, the movie, extra stage, and battle stage...
much more money efficient ^_^
plus...usually voice overs are horrible....esp from an asian language to english. English translated anime usually sound horrible cuz the actors use the wrong or no expression.

Man, I'm glad I live in Japan... First I hear that Nissan destroyed all the Silvia models, now this? Initial D is still really popular over here. The arcade game is the hottest thing now. I'll still watch the DVD's when I have nothing to do. But changing the names and using rap? This is a problem for you. Just watch the Japanese version with ENG subtitles or go and learn Japanese so you don't need the subtitles... well, easier said than done. I feel bad for TokyoPOP because of the feedback they will get from doing this mistake, but I don't feel bad because they are making this huge mistake. Go send some hate mail! ;)

Dear TokyoPOP,

I have a big problem with what you guys have done to Initial D... Changing the names and the music, dramatically? why? why would you do this? what were you thinking? I really dont know what to say, whats next, new characters and cars? That wouldnt be TOO bad of an idea, but please please please, dont EVER do this again...

its sent...

what's great is..when initial d comes out..your gonna have all these lil kids thinkin they know everything about drift..actin all smart cause they think FC=FC35 (another error made by tokyopop...should be FC3S..) and you'll have these wannabes tryin to drift by copying what takumi does..i just can't wait for a kid to come up to me and try and show me up with initial d info...if it does :mischievous:  :D  :mischievous:

I can't watch anime in english, it's the voice acting. I tried watching Kenshin on Cartoon Network and as soon as Kenshin said a week half-hearted "huh?" instead of "oro!?" I turned the channel. I haven't been able to watch an epesode on tv since... The 'oro' scenes used to crack me and my friends up, but when the same scene passes in english you don't even know anything happened. This same thing happened on the Kenshin DVD, but thankfully we could also get japanese with subs on the second run through.
I think this happens because of very poor direction when adapting to english, the person doing it has no creative talent, so instead of skillfully adapting the japanese comedy, simply cuts it all out, not to mention the voice actors suck (although it could be because of the direction "could you make that last line a little blander please, we want our audience to fall asleep")

hmmm, i already have every conventional piece of initial d media on dvd so i could care less, ill enjoy it for what its supposed to be, and screw the new americanized names.

www.edvdstore.com

jonathan chan runs this online store here he sells endless amounts of anime really cheap. you can get the first stage (complete) for 26 bucks. xtra stage and the movie are only 10 bucks a piece, its subtitled, the original soundtrack, and names.
personaly i could not sink that low and obscessed to buy D here in the states.
this guy has been a huge help, my anime collection sits at over 65 titles just from him

the voice actors of anime in english present themselves to have extensive DOWN SYNDROME, it really hard to watch sometimes, as if they fumbled through some lines of fast food menus while having a root canal.

save your brain. stick with Japanese

just recently came back from Anime-Expo in Anaheim. They were showin off the cards
woa!
how was it tingboy?

i had the reservations all set and a slew of new art to display unitl i got deployed, anyways im still stuck in the oily sand box of asia.
any good premieres? new stuff?
i remember last year they showed the first couple epeisodes of Initial D, people still didnt know what it was but they really liked it.
the arcade stage was setup at the tokyopop booth it ALWAYS had a line on it.:D

yea, they had a special stage set up and there wuz a somewhat big line. The wheel broke by day 3 tho lol.
hmmm, they had a bunch of anime i've never heard of....and I wish I had downloaded Haibane-Renmei b4 it was licensed, being a big SE Lain fan..
I think the Bandai and Pioneer booths were the best...ADV sux cuz they only license old anime and give away free crap. My friend got a pair of Nautica tightie whities lol....
nothin really special happened tho....I was sorta surprised at how many caucasians like anime.....god they look horrible in cosplay (esp the big ladies....ugg fat Lulu still in my head...can't get it out...)
