Why do people generally hate 4WD drifters?

I like to drift a bit every now and then for the fun of it but I've seen people bitch and moan about 4WD drifters. Why? I personally don't use 4WD because I find them a bit hard to drift and I guess I find cars like the DB9 (which has awesome grip even on Comfort Hards) and the 599 way better. And yes they are both FR cars. Also is it looked down upon the community MR or RR drifters? I am just asking cause I don't get it.

I would love to help but I dont get it either, I am a 4wd drifter but always get kicked from drifting lobbies because im using my Subaru or Evo.

Here is why.

Most of the 'drifters' on gt5 are d1 nerds. And in d1, only rwd cars are drifting

Most of these nerds dont even consider 4wd to be drifting, but 'powersliding'

On top of this, (and you cant deny this) 4wd drifting is considerably easier than rwd. Face it, its easy mode. Hey, I prefer 4WD drifting myself, but you cannot deny that it is easier. Youre more in control.

These nerds also feel that you drift through turns faster, so, maybe at one time in their life, a 4WD drifter ran them off the road, and now they forever hate them.

What I do is, use cars that most people dont know are 4WD. Here are a few:

RUF CTR2
Impreza or FTO Super touring car
Lancia HF (the premium one)

When I use these cars, people leave me alone.

I personally don't have anything against MR and RR, for the longest time my go-to drift car was the Honda NSX-R Concept (the Championship White standard with the carbon fiber hood) and lately I have been having an absolute blast with the Yellow Bird. I do, however, feel that 4WD (even when set to 10/90) provides an unfair advantage when everyone seems to be obsessed with staying at the top of the leaderboard in "lap battles." If they do in fact have their splitter set to 10/90, 10% of the power is still being sent to the front wheels and the pull that that provides is enough to get the car out of hair situations or make it that much quicker around the track when driven properly. Additionally, there is no way to confirm that they have their splitter set to such and they may very well have it set to 25/85 (a particularly good balance between understeer reduction and grip increase on Comfort Hard tires. Back when I was regularly drifting online and creating my own lobbies, I would announce the disapproval of 4WD right in the title, in addition to letting prospective joiners know that the room is limited to CH. If I simply "rose" to the position of room op, I obviously couldn't change the name and was a little more lax on tire and drivetrains (though still limiting tire choice to Comfort and getting a whole lot of whiners who wanted Sports).

As for grippy FR cars on Comfort Hards, consider checking out the Amuse S2000 R1 (standard width body with carbon fiber hood, roof, trunk lid, and wing) but be prepared to set the rear camber (default is 4.5) to something a little less radical.

I resent being called a `D1 nerd`, GT5 drifters are `D1 fans`, not `nerds`.

The reason 4WDs get kicked is the same reason that x1s get kicked, they go against the spirit of the race.

A `true drift car` is RWD, which is why the D1 impreza that was stolen ealier this year is converted to full RWD, if you turned up to an event in a 4WD, you wouldn`t get in, as the car doesn`t meet the regulations for the series.

Honestly I couldn't give a crap about D1, I just enjoy hanging the ass out as far as I possibly can as fast as I possibly can while using low grade tires and maintaining absolute control. 👍

hahahaha 👍

And when you have the front wheels being driven too, they are pulling the car away from danger and doing a lot of work for the driver.

If you kick people for driving the car they want to drive, you're a nerd

If you let people enjoy the damn game, you arent

So, its up to you, if you want to be a nerd or not

And its NOT comparable to an x1. flying around a track and ramming everything in your path =/= having 10% of your power going to the front wheels

I agree with this completely. So because of this D1 people get kicked and harassed all the time? Well that sucks. Reminds me of Call of Duty players.

It's because 4WD drift cars naturally need to take turns faster than pure RWD drift cars (even with the power distributed mostly to the rear). I can't tell you how many times I've been bumped off track mid drift because a guy in a GT-R/Evo/Rally-mobile had to pass me to maintain his drift. Also RWD drifting is more difficult, don't try to convince me otherwise.

Exactly right 👍

Seriously, bitch's are gonna bitch, what can you do? Some people even drift with a FWD car, so there you go. It's only a game people, do what you want with it.

D1 Nerds? I despise D1, but because I prefer RWD, you automatically brand me. GET REAL. So you can fix that comment you made and stop looking like a total 1 minded arrogant person. I bet you use sports tyres too.. YAWN

Someone made the exact point of why some people dont like 4wd cars in the drift rooms.
1.Skill level required
2.Very fast = higher chance of crashes
3.You can't tandem together when using Rear driven wheels or 4 wheels driven.

I like the control aspect of RWD cars, 4wd you throuw it in, accelerate without counter steer and boom! easy as pie.

It's A game and people like what they like. Don't be a little bitch about people having there own preferences. If you don't like it, setup your own room. I bet your also 1 of those guys who gets kicked for bitching that 4wd isnt allowed? Point made.. BYEEEEE

Also, kicking someone for using the car they want is misuse of power and just being an asshole. Not being A "Nerd".. Here, I'll show you the definition of "Nerd" so you canuse it correctly next time.

Nerd.
an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit

No. You get real. It makes you as much as dick as any of the other D1 nerds because you are still kicking people out of lobbies for that. Also how is it that using a 4WD makes you a asshole? Just because you can go 10 MPH faster than the other guy?

Nerd.

If you're not allowing people in your lobby simply because you don't like their drivetrain, that's pretty single minded right there.

Haters gonna hate.

Same argument thats been plaguing the drift forum for months... Same possible end result... A.K.A. prepare for lock...

In 620-640pp races, I like to drive my Audi LeMans Quattro. This car understeers a bit.

UNLESS... you pull the handrake and set the car sideways. Stomp the gas and 4wd powerslide with ease. Your moving faster out of the corner too. This honestly is soooo much fun on tracks like Fuji, and it seems to make me faster rather than slower (I destroyed @ Fuji against cars I was losing to on earlier tracks).

I don't ever go into Drift (Free Run *cough*) rooms anymore so I wouldn't know about that, but 4wd drifting is the only way to drive 4wd cars in my opinion.

I bet you use sports tyres too.. YAWN

Way to completely validate my post in 1 sentence 👍👍

AWD drifters are stereotyped.....

When you are spotted in an AWD car, you must be a fag using sports tires, ramming people off the road, "not really drifting" and cutting people off

(for the record, I only drift in comfort hards, regardless of the car)

hi guys, I am a RWD driver/drifter. I have no problem with the 4WD drifters, however i do think that 4WD drifting is easier but different at the same time.
I do host drift lobbies but I don't treat 4WD drifters/drivers any different to those using RWD. I just prefer RWD, I use the SLS AMG. Its an awesome car, I've tuned it but I haven't touched the exhaust as i think that the noise of that 6.3 V8 sounds like god having a crisis!

I think it is stupid that I got kicked for drifting whit a Audi R8. and then says
that I are a noob in drifting but I use 4WD and RWD to drift

Even if it is easier. There is still no reason to be dicks about it. After all this is a game and you won't win nothing by kicking them out.

I nearly use all cars and have for all cars an setup, If its 4WD or MR, FR it does not matter for me I just like to smoke people and being faster around corners then people who are racing.
EDIT: Where did you read that people hate 4WD cars?

Is it even possible to drift a real 4WD car? I know it's just a game, but that might be the reason why a lot of people dislike it.
