I play because I live and I live to drive, race, tune, paint and to shift. I just purchased the new Fanatec CSS QS and can't wait for March to arrive and once again to feel the excitement of banging gears in the great sea of GT6 cars. Having sold my street rod last year this is all I have to get the heart pumping and the feel of competition.

When I was a youth and picking up my copies of GT1 and GT2 I used to look forward to all the cars; even then, I thought the challenge of games like TOCA Touring Car Championship (which also had Tiff Needell as commentator!) and Colin McRae rally, and the like were significantly better than Gran Turismo games, but I didn't enjoy them as much because GT had the cars.

Now when a GT release comes out I find myself almost dreading the choice of new cars they put in, mostly because I have no interest in modern famous super cars and concept electric town vehicles - which are the only two things PD seem to bother with now. Gran Turismo, when I first remember it, was equally about the left-field stuff (Tommykaira, Vector, Ventui, RUF, Lister, etc), and the classic Japanese gear. Now in GT6 they don't even have a mark 1 RX-7 in the game!

So now I guess I play it, pretty much exclusively, for the online racing. But even then I almost never venture into a public room - I stick to events here on GTP. That being said I'm confident GT6 will be the last GT game I buy for two reasons; (1) I'm a lot older now and don't have anywhere near the time/enthusiasm for playing games anymore, and (2) I think everyone who played GT since the beginning would agree with me that the two last titles have not come close to living up to the GT name and that's unlikely to change.

Having only bought GT5 just over a year ago, I was somewhat not "involved" in it, so to speak....probably because I struggled a lot with Special Events (the BMW Challenges) and some licences, so, when I got GT6, I was just treating it like any other game...namely, get a car, upgrade it considerably, win easily and repeat....got up to halfway through Super level before I lost the save due to a system format and no backup externally.

Anyway, this save I have got a lot more involved with the game. Partly this is explained by doing the first half of the career by using prize cars as much as I could and limiting modifications to tyre upgrades if needed (the only car I modified up to National A level was the Mito to run the Italian series of events). The main reason is removing TCS as much as possible and not using SRF period (I spent most of the first save with both on for some reason)...this has made the cars less predictable but a lot more fun and has made me a much better driver (missions that I struggled to get bronze on before, I am now getting gold fairly easily after a few tries....completing the Red Bull at Goodwood would not have been possible before).

So, to finally answer the original question:

- To complete a computer game for only the second time ever (technically, it's not possible due to updates but Platinum will do me);
- To collect every single car available;
- To continue to learn and, hopefully, learn to drive high-powered MR cars without any TCS (usually need it on 1 for some stability);
- To improve my general standing in the Seasonal Time Trials (in events with a provided car, I am in Top 5000 or so usually, other events I am anywhere from 10,000 to 110,000!)
- To have fun driving!
- And, finally, to improve my skills enough to be able to go back to GT5 and complete the events I couldn't before;
- Oh, and did I mention to have fun driving? :D

I too play GT6 for fun, also to collect cars, mod them, tune them, photograph them and enjoy the drive. I'm not a tuner but I love to mess with car settings to try to get different "personalities" if you will (I'm old school GT fan, have 3 same cars but with different tunes each, not a fan of data sheets but it's mostly out of habit, GT2 had spoiled me) and lately playing with my son. He's 8 now but he's been playing GT with me since he's 4 and I have seen his fascination with cars grow, he's driving better than me sometimes and that means a lot to me. Being 33 with 2 kids and working every day to pay your bills and stuff, GT has been for me like companion all my life, and reliving it with my kid is just surreal.

In the end, I play it because it's GT.

It's pretty much the same for me. GT6 is my first ever gt game, so for now I'm still kept busy with the offline part. I hope to be doing some online racing at some point though.
Feel free to add me if you want someone ear to your timezone (I'm at GMT+1)

To be honest this is my first GT6 since number 4, and it's the best one so far in terms of driving dynamics. Forza doesn't even come close and I reached closed to level 150 playing that. The cars just feel better and the tracks are awesome to add to it. So yes, it comes down to cars and sheer fun factor of wrestling a motorised hunk of metal around twisties.
