Why does GT5 have such horrid music?

My first priority on loading GT5 for the first time was to switch all the music off.

same here. i like to hear the engines roar. it makes me play better not hearing trance music distracting me.

First of all, I'm sorry guys if I'm posting this in the wrong place but I've already searched the forum and didn't find it! So, I have a question, does any one here knows the name of the song that is most played in the menus after any race starts? It beggins with a simple pianno then turns into electro! I already searched in the in-game music list but couldn't find there either, looks like is the only song not listed! Can anyone help me on this? Thanks a lot, and sorry again if it's the wrong place for this one!

hmm must be new to gran turismo. this is how the music has always been. its part of what makes gran turismo. the menu music is the best, but the race bgm could have had a little work. such as putting throw back titles in there from previous gt games. but ya this is the way gran turismo has always been and hope it will always be. besides all the other racing game music is trash. speacially need for speed.

I would enjoy this game so much more if I could customize the menu BGM. The jazz-funk is really starting to get to me. Seems strange that they would let you customize race BGM, but not menu.

GT3 had fantastic music, GT4 and GT5, not so much, but you can turn it off so it really isn't that big of a deal. People complain about the music in every single game, saying oh these songs and this genre is crap why don't they put more of X genre into the game, but you have to realize that the developers can't satisfy everyone, so they will put something generally bland and non-offensive. The easiest thing to do is to just play your ipod or whatever over speakers in the background, and not waste space on your HD or risk whatever issues people have with custom BGM.

Basically this. Not "bad" as such, if "HolyWars" is anything to go by then you've got good taste... but just because it's good music doesn't mean it suits every occasion. You've gotta stick with the theme for maximum effect.

Please PD. You allow over 180 songs to be turned off but leave this song out of the Library.

I didn't mind it at first but it pops up almost everytime. I haven't checked if I can play something instead of this for race menu BGM. Is custom music just for other menus and races etc? Also don't want any issues using custom music but if I can't change race menu music then I won't bother as I don't race with music and the songs for the menus are pretty good in general.

I must admit, i like it alot. Really catchy, but i have the music turned of as i usually have my music on on my pc or the radio.

GT5 has the same type of music Gran Turismo has always had.
you can turn off the background music from the game by opening up the Music Library and setting all the songs to "off" for all three modes. pretty easy.

you can also put your own music to races fairly easily.
My Home Settings -> Options -> Hardware -> Audio
from here, you can turn the BGM volume up and down, sound effects volume up or down... it's all there.
but anyway, go down to Select Personal BGM (Menu) and pick your songs, then click to box to enable it.
do the same with Select Personal BGM (Race). pick your songs, then enable.
then click OK and you're done.

more than half? where is this coming from? there is a poll going around on here or the main gran-turismo site. on the poll there were 2 people that hated the music and 72 or 78 cant remember that liked the music. sounds like more people enjoy it rather than dislike it.

I'm not quite sure how it's done, but I don't think it will be too difficult to replace GT5's music with your Christian rock and gospel collection.

Most of the GT series' music is terrible.

I can't remember many songs that I actually enjoyed listening to when racing. "Panama" by Van Halen and the much-loved "Moon Over the Castle."

There is also one Queens of the Stone Age song in this game that is enjoyable.

The playlists contains a song or two that's okay to listen to, so I set those as my menu-music. Since I don't listen to music while racing (messes with my shifting), I don't bother to add custom tracks.

The bigger problem to me is the fact that you can't change the music for the dealership, used car lot, GT Auto and tuning shop...
After playing the game for a while, this kind of music gets annoying. Nothing against jazz and lounge or easy listening stuff, but the stuff that's being played at those places sounds more like the music you'd hear in an elevator in a shoping mall.

I tried looking in the options to turn off that one electro dance song that seems to play every single time a loading screen comes up...but I couldn't find it anywhere. I was already sick of it after hearing it the second time on my first night with the game -- it sounds like someone farting on an electric keyboard.

The song is by a band called Pnau. The tune is called 'Baby - Breakbot Remix'. Lovin that tune, too. You can look it up on youtube.

BTW, my wife LOVES the GT5 menu music. She wants to play it all day during our xmas dinner party
