Why is Firefox regarded as superior to Internet Explorer? Help me out.

Well IE is really too complicated to use, the plugin installations are a joke and Silverlight doesn't really sound to me as a replacement for other web formats(flash and java).

I use Chrome recently, as many people pointed out it is insane fast, not to mention the fact that it takes each window as an individual process so if it crashes, it only affects one window(in most cases), it also saves more cache, that's what improves speed, and it also has some plug-ins integrated.

But I will admit that FF is slightly better than both Chrome and IE, Java works better on FF and the different plug-ins are far more interesting, ironically I just end up using Chrome for its speed, and its minimalist approach, I just want to see the page, nothing of the bar-functions nonsense.

Entirely unscientifically, Chrome starts up in maybe a few seconds. Firefox takes nearly 20 seconds sometimes. I'm not an impatient person by nature but any more than 5 seconds to open a web browser even on a fairly low-spec computer is a joke.

I was a sworn IE person until, well, exactly what this guy said. Chrome is just so fluid and smooth, and it loads up in seconds.

i used ff until it decided to stop working last year then i switched to chrome. when chrome first came out we used to download it to the computers at school so the tech supervisors would have to delete it over and over again.

I use FF most of the time however for some reason I can't get flash to work on it due to the fact that it doesn't like the fact I have a 64bit processor. So I have to change to chrome if I want to view flash content.

By any chance has anyone else had this problem and found a solution.

I have IE9 and Chrome, and I really don't see much difference in speed. I think people have just convinced themselves that Microsoft = bad.

Ad blocking on Chrome is better though, and it's alot simpler to set up. I don't like how Chrome is trying to be all cool with their little robot error message instead of just a plain and simple error message like on IE.. I just feel sorry for anyone who sees that and is like "Omg guys Google gets us! They've checkmated my teenage cynicism!"

As for Firefox, well, I've just never liked Firefox. I don't think I like foxes in general, they're too pointy looking. Plus, I have a small dog and I could see a flaming fox really causing her problems.

I find the pointyness of foxes, dogs, and wolfs beautiful, their not like a pug with a crumpled nose.

I dislike IE9 has the make all the buttons look "flat" and the grouped the tabs and addressbar on the same line.

It is a pain in the neck when i have to use it on customers machines.

above or below is fine as you still have a full length address bar.
IE has a 1/3 length address bar and the rest of the 2/3s are for tabs.

Right click in the toolbar, select 'Show tabs on a seperate row'. Sorted.

I dislike how IE has moved the bottons to be more like firefox. I tried firefox some time ago and it felt like driving a car with all the controls switched around - lights where the wipers should be etc.

I cant go changing settings on customers PCs where i am foreced to use it, if i could i would install Firefox instead of fixing the layout of IE.

The button on firefox when i started to use it(1.5.x) were not that differant from IE but their was a small issue with learning the layout of a new browser but i have been using firefox ever since.

I even installed it on my old WinME machine.
