Why is my B-spec driver utterly retarded?

Loses in a Japanese only race against accord coupes and worse....and loses driving a 800 HP GT-R specV

I don't understand it, am I doing something wrong? For laps and laps he'll just tailgate a driver (every turn, ever corner) and attempt to pass on the outside (failing everytime) which will send him back to tailgating or in the dirt.

Any tips?

PS I'm convinced these "speed up" and "overtake" functions are just for show

Once u reach a certain B-spec level you can do 9hour races over night, offcourse.. its not easy to get up to that level, but its easy after u reached level 32 B
