Why is the TVR special event immpossible???

I've nearly 100%'ed all the GT releases to date. There's never been an event I couldn't place in with a little determination...

That being said, The TVR special event is rediculous! I'm starting in 8th and losing ground the entire race. Has anyone actually managed to even place third so they can continue in the game?

Personally, I think MBz should be pissed about the dynamics of the SL55 AMG in the game... It can't really be that terrible to drive in real life. Dont even get me started on the TVR. What a POS.

I don't remember the event though I have all golds (probably needed to be done with standard physics).

Many complain about the SL55's handling, while I can't confirm or disprove the handlinf of the car as I have never driven it but you have to remember this is a soft 2 ton+ car that was designed for autobahn high speed cruising rather than being thrown around on a track so I wouldn't expect it to be that fantastic. Saying that KY himself owns a SL55 AMG and I expect him to understand how the car performs in real life compared to the game, if it needs adjusting I am sure they will before GT5.

As for the TVR's I completely disagree with the 'POS' statement, I think they are great, and much what I would expect from a TVR in real life.

I did it fairly easily. And yes, the SL 55 is quite heavy - it's not made to handle like a track-day car. Calling a car a POS just because an event is difficult is a judgment I certainly don't agree with.

I hear you guys. I'm actually a track day fanatic and have driven dozens of different cars on the track for real. I just find it hard to believe that either of these big power rear drive cars would really display this much understeer on exits and kind of silly oversteer at full throttle on the mildest of high speed turns... The TVR just seems to go sideways at high speed in an unrealistic fassion. Howerver the other TVR's I'm racing against seem to accelerate harder, faster, and without drifting at all.

I'm at a point in the game where I've completed every race that isn't blacked out. It seems about half of the manufacture's races aren't unlocked yet...

Anyone know how to unlock them? The TVR race is the only one I haven't placed in.

I disagree with your comments in the first post and the TVR's are a joy. I've driven TVR in real life and they are very raw skittish cars that are fun to drive but break down a lot. I'm not saying GT5P is 100% right, I think it needs a more weighted feel and a return of grip at low speed but then you'll only spin a bit more violently if your taking the corner at a wrong angle or using to much throttle.

I've just gone back to the TVR dealer event and left it on pro physics and chose the Tuscan and finished first with a lap to spare on first my attempt. Have you tried tuning the car to your style, perhaps alter the camber and toe angle and make sure BHP is on max etc. This event is on S1 tyres so you'll have to be measured in your approach and get on the throttle when your straighter and perhaps ease off slightly through the long sweeping left and rights.

I doubt you can go full throttle and turn hard or recover a bad line on a low tyre in real life without skidding off or even have the balls to do the same speed in real life, especially a powerful and perhaps basic RWD car. The feel of the car in real life helps in counter steering but it can be done in this game, and imo GT5P actual driving physics are the easily the best on console and rival PC at the moment but obviously collision physics and a whole host of other things are missing because it prologue and who's to know what direction and attention PD will give everything for the full game.

There must be something more to my problem. While I'm not fond of the car or the terrible tires the race requires, I can still drive it well. Even on the best lap with the fewest mistakes, it seems the other cars are just faster. Even if I tune the car up (which doesn't help much because it's completely traction limited), The other cars just accelerate and corner faster and brake more stable than mine. Could it be because it's the last race of the game for me? I dont think it's possible to get a 3 turns ahead let alone a full lap on my console. If I drive it perfect the best I can finish is right where I started in 8th. It's really frustrating. I'm sad to here that the other races may not be unlocked.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

Ash

Have you tried standard physics? I hate using them, but there were some race events where I had to turn them on in order to clear them. I don't remember if I did for the TVR event, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to try if you haven't done this already.

Keep trying, you'll get it. Oh, and drive like a maniac. Dive past other cars, do some lawn-mowing, and don't be afraid of contact. If you drive completely cleanly and respectfully, you will not win unless you're Jackie Stewart.

Okay, Imay be full of "it"... but here's what i did.

Tried the race again... same deal, The other cars were just faster all around. I finished 9th.

I went and completed an arcade race but changed the AI from 90 (what I ran previously) down to min. Obviously I destroted in that race (different track BTW).

Then I went back to the TVR event, drove pretty poorly compared the the one where I placed 9th and finished in
2nd... almost first.

What can I contribute these differences to???

I'm just glad to be rid of that race.

What was the difference in your lap times between the two races? AI runs pretty consistent lap times unless there's an accident.

Maybe taking a break from that race and track helped. It's easy to make the same mistakes over and over when you get frustrated, so maybe taking out your anger on kei cars got those errors out of your head.

I'm sure my lap times were fairly consistent. The car drove as it always did and I actually was kinda slower with more mistakes. It just seemed like the AI lap times were slower. All it would take is one or two senconds really.

I dont know... But I know that raising money in the tuned z06 on the S-class daytona race yields different lap times for me and the AI randomly when it loads. Sometimes I can pull 49.3-49.7 every lap and pass the leader at the end of the third lap. And sometimes I can't get faster than 50.3 but pass the leader (ford GT usually) at the end of the sencond lap. Could this be a difference in game weather? That would be cool.

this race is totally, absolutely, categorically and undeniably impossible! anyone who sais they've done it must be simply a liar, any assitance would be greatly appreciated

check that! i turned traction control to 1 and was in lead by end of first lap and easy win by about 8 seconds
You liar. This race is totally, absolutely, categorically and undeniably impossible, remember.

No, it was impossible. Even Hobart said so.

I completed it fine btw and I'm no Gran Turismo genious, I struggle online if I'm against a grid full of decent drvers. I can hold my own, usually in the middle of the pack but I managed to come first in the TVR event.

I obviousely cheated and hacked the game and replaced the AI TVR's with Copens though since the race is impossible.

I finished the race again last night. The car is very twitchy much like the Ford GT. Here is what I did to get first. HP to max, weight all the way down. ABS to 3, TC to 3. Never get off throttle. Brake and Throttle at same time and car remains balanced. You should win very easy.
