Thanks for your hit-and-run comment.

You need clarification?

"7 inch tablets = (a certain company) so other companies cannot make a similar size is beyond absurd. I hope Apple gets sued because of it" - is quite silly. The size of the tablet is not a distinguishing feature that is part of a patent. If it were, the first company to make a 32 inch television would be the ONLY company allowed to make it. The first newspaper to print on a certain size would be the only one? Doesn't work that way.

Patents and copyrights are no good? It does not take much business acumen to realize this statement is hard to fathom.

"Apple needs to get a taste of their own medicine." - I doubt you will find any documents in Apple's headquarters which clearly indicate which parts and pieces of another company's product they have ripped off.

I think that Apple have made these "stupid Patents" because if they didn't then android would. Then we're would apple be?

I think we are all forgetting that company's like Apple and Google spend millions on R&D finding out exactly what works for the public. As soon as they come to a realisation that a certain thing works better than everything else, you have to do whatever it is you can to protect your findings, be it rounded edges, coloured icons whatever!

The fact is if Apple owns the rights to these things, that means anyone else can't do it without paying Apple a substantial amount of cash, and if the public would rather buy a product with rounded edges and Apple owns the copyright then their gonna sell more.

I think it says more about the consumer rather than the company's. The fact that Apple believes that rounded edges are a selling point.

Don't get me wrong, I like Apple products. They are easy to use and very hard wearing. I just don't like all the underhand tactics they use. Take the iPhone 5 for instance, for me there is no real difference between that and the 4S, and if yours is jailbroken like mine, then it is a downgrade. I don't like how apple finds out what consumers want and then give it to you bit by bit, and call it the next iPhone.

As for the iPad mini, why? I cannot see why anyone would buy one. The "New" iPad is about the same price, and has a bigger screen. Or you could pay about a hundred quid more and have an iPhone.

Again it probably says more about the fickle state of a consumer rather than the company. People will but them in droves because it's Apples newest product. Mad.

Rant over.

Owning a shape is ridiculous, it's like a car maker patenting the coupe shape, and then suing everyone for using it. Rounded rectangles happen in nature so is Apple going to sue God/Mother Nature? I get patents, if Apple was protecting it's touch screen tech, or OS, then it would be different. Instead they are using underhanded tactics trying to bully out the competition by patenting a basic function of a smartphone. They do make good products, and I have owned a few Ipods (who hasn't), but I hope that without Jobs the Apple fails.
