I made this some time ago in forza. If my xbox didn't break or I can make cars like this in GT6, I'd finally have an inexpensive hobby again.. It's not that the xbox 360 is expensive to buy, but the licence transfer process is a b*tch!

It's definitely a sign it's coming. Too bad it probably won't apply to standard cars since we can't have numbers on them :(
Other "signs" have been there for years and no livery editor in sight.

Look at this :D

Is this the signal we've been waiting for?

Yep, this was from an old update:

NumberPlateCustomizable
DeckenCustomizable
WindowStickerCustomizable

Now in 1.10:

Decken_No_Installed.None Fitted
Decken_Normal_Setup.Normal
Default.Default
Design_A.Type A
Design_B.Type B
Design_C.Type C
Design_D.Type D
Design_E.Type E
Group_CarNumber.Car Number
Group_Decken.Driver Number
Group_WindowSticker.WindowSticker
Label_DesignType.Base
Label_FontType.Typeface
Label_Number.Number
No_Number.None
Rotate_Left.Rotate Left
Rotate_Right.Rotate Right

I thought I'd quote from another member about this:
In the future, doesn't look like its all in place just yet. Looks like we will get custom licence plates and custom window banners. A friend who can see the matrix told me its been partially added. He also saw that the racing numbers and caliper painting was partially added in 1.09.

It has been the normal occurance for PD to add in stuff for release an update or 2 in advance to get ready for realeasing it.

Maybe we will see these features in 1.11 or 1.12

PD has been continuously adding new stuff, unexpected stuff and it is nice to see they are being extremely generous. I don't know of any other game getting this much add on content so regularly all free of charge. PD is making up for GT5P & GT5 in a big way.
We've been asking for the Livery Editor all along. It's the third most popular request thread, after the Course Maker thread. It seems PD got the message.

PD got the message? Cool, I have to download the latest update so I can use that livery editor..oh wait...

When Tenacious stated that PD the got the message, rather I think he means that now PD knows we want it a lot, they're working at it and just releasing a taster
Kaz had it up on a powerpoint presentation 8 years ago, I think they got the message a long time ago.

Apparently that presention wasn't a concrete list of things but rather stuff that PD COULD do for GT on the PS3. I think Kaz felt that it wasn't really necessary then but now when he asks, people got a proper chance to make noise about it.

In this case I'd rather say that the message got delivered, but now it's been read.

We'll just have to work with what we got?
Basically. ;)

Someone mentioned that just getting some racing stripes we could color and place, a number plate, and a few sponsor decals would be enough for them. Or maybe even just some stripes! That wouldn't be enough for me by a long shot. But if it's the prelude to some more livery features, and those for a basic Livery Editor like T10 had in Forza 2, and then one like Forza 5, I could deal with that. As long as it didn't take five years. :P

I also LOVE the new racing number option and the ability to paint brake calipers but please don't get your hopes too high, fellows.

If we never see a livery editor, you will be disappointed.:)

This is why we need to keep engaged and keep asking. If we get some kind of online league creation tools in GT6, and no Livery Editor, that's just going to make Gran Turismo seem even more behind the curve, seeing as so many other games have at least a basic one (GRID Autosport), a decent one (Ferrari Challenge, Forza 1), and very powerful ones capable of recreating any race car from history or imagination (Forza 5, Project CARS supposedly).

Imagine an online team defined by... paint colors. Or identical race cars. Yech. :P If numerous other games can have a Livery Editor, there's no reason Gran Turismo can't too.

Believe me, before GT6 came out I had a really big hope for a livery editor and the awesome liveries in my head are still there.

And I really REALLY want one, to be honest, I do not give a *coughcough* about the sounds if I can have a livery editor (and maybe a better AI).

There are a few elements pending in GT6 and 7 that make something truly ambitious in every aspect of motorsports almost essential.
  • The online Club and League Building Tools, which I mentioned above.
  • The partnership with FIA.
  • Kaz is going to be establishing dialogues with just about every motorsport group around the globe, as mentioned by Eurogamer.
Along with these are the Course Maker, and Event Maker which would be essential in creating online track days, racing series, championships, even mini-seasons. We're inching towards that Livery Editor in the new update. And I suspect that Race Mod would be unthinkable to exclude from the community features, seeing as it was such a big part of GT2, and we begged for more of the one in GT5, unless PD does all the work for us by providing a bunch of pre-built race cars. But really, who wouldn't rather customize their own race car with a selection of bodykit options?

A few auxiliary things would be important to add too. In particular, good Bot A.I., damage and improved sounds. My much hyped FIA GT Pro mode would be a superb platform for hosting your own created racing series and leagues both off- and online.

I know that we may not get most of what we want, at least as soon as we want. But I'm looking for Kaz to do something truly ambitious over the coming months to allow us to immerse ourselves in the racing world in our own way. I have some rather ambitious posts forthcoming that I'll be working on to illustrate just how I'd like user creativity to be expressed in GT6 and 7. Especially 7.

I'd sure like a certain thread responded to, but there is one even more popular, so we might have to wait in line. Unless Kaz chooses the order.

Sadly, my 360 Leet red ringed on me the other day after some two years of use, so my class project is on hold for a couple of weeks or so. Sigh... best thing about Forza is that car painter dealy...

I'm about to run off and tend to some treal life stuff, but I thought I'd reiterate something that's a little OT in the thread I was about to post in.

According to some of the German speaking members at NeoGAF, "decken" means "cover" or some variation, which in modeling terms could refer to the skin, paint, or something else. I'm hoping it means something with special significance to this thread.

The Livery Editor has always been popular with a number of gamers, but with it being the third most Liked item on the Q&A board, I'm thinking PD is finally giving this some priority. They really should, because this is a huge and quite popular element in a number of other racing games, including a certain competitor, and is a key aspect in keeping gamers involved longer into the lifecycle of the game. Because PD seems to move in increments, I have a feeling that the livery situation will be the same.
  • First we get the number plates and different number fonts in the 1.10 update.
  • Then, numbers placed on windows, perhaps a Gran Turismo windshield banner for front and back.
  • Stripes which can be colored and placed. Maybe national flags. More number plate options. More race suit and helmet options.
  • Race Mod appears with a choice of a racing team from various leagues using that car, or basic livery templates, with a range of choices for each car. Driver names can be placed with small nation flags beside them, optional name text on windows. Sponsor decals will be made available and can be sized and placed. More number plate options. More customizable race suit options.
  • Full Livery Editor finally with lots of vinyls, graphic effects like fading and transparency, a wide variety of coloring options including metallics, sponsor decals, tools for custom decals and number plate making, text fonts. Additional elements like decals made available for DLC.
Yeah, dreaming, but this is what I want. Well, the full Editor ASAP, but I'll take what I can get in the meantime.

Maybe that's why they're also recruiting Graphic Designers. It's something

Unfortunately, Decken has nothing to do with skin or livery unless it is a code word.

A Decke is either your room's roof (but technically it tends to be the one on the inside called Decke) or it is a blanket.

The only thing that connects it to some sort of livery in the german language would be that a Decke is always something that covers you.
