It's definitely a sign it's coming. Too bad it probably won't apply to standard cars since we can't have numbers on them
Livery Editor is coming..... Update 1.10 for GT6 is a sign....
Other "signs" have been there for years and no livery editor in sight. It's definitely a sign it's coming. Too bad it probably won't apply to standard cars since we can't have numbers on them

We've been asking for the Livery Editor all along. It's the third most popular request thread, after the Course Maker thread. It seems PD got the message. In the future, doesn't look like its all in place just yet. Looks like we will get custom licence plates and custom window banners. A friend who can see the matrix told me its been partially added. He also saw that the racing numbers and caliper painting was partially added in 1.09.
It has been the normal occurance for PD to add in stuff for release an update or 2 in advance to get ready for realeasing it.
Maybe we will see these features in 1.11 or 1.12
PD has been continuously adding new stuff, unexpected stuff and it is nice to see they are being extremely generous. I don't know of any other game getting this much add on content so regularly all free of charge. PD is making up for GT5P & GT5 in a big way.
PD got the message? Cool, I have to download the latest update so I can use that livery editor..oh wait...I thought I'd quote from another member about this:

Kaz had it up on a powerpoint presentation 8 years ago, I think they got the message a long time ago. When Tenacious stated that PD the got the message, rather I think he means that now PD knows we want it a lot, they're working at it and just releasing a taster

They better implement a livery editor like what's on Forza or else...Look at this
Is this the signal we've been waiting for?
Or else.. We'll just have to work with what we got? They better implement a livery editor like what's on Forza or else...
Basically. We'll just have to work with what we got?
Believe me, before GT6 came out I had a really big hope for a livery editor and the awesome liveries in my head are still there. This is why we need to keep engaged and keep asking. If we get some kind of online league creation tools in GT6, and no Livery Editor, that's just going to make Gran Turismo seem even more behind the curve, seeing as so many other games have at least a basic one (GRID Autosport), a decent one (Ferrari Challenge, Forza 1), and very powerful ones capable of recreating any race car from history or imagination (Forza 5, Project CARS supposedly).
Imagine an online team defined by... paint colors. Or identical race cars. Yech. If numerous other games can have a Livery Editor, there's no reason Gran Turismo can't too.
Soon.™
According to some of the German speaking members at NeoGAF, "decken" means "cover" or some variation, which in modeling terms could refer to the skin, paint, or something else. I'm hoping it means something with special significance to this thread.Yep, this was from an old update:

I'm about to run off and tend to some treal life stuff, but I thought I'd reiterate something that's a little OT in the thread I was about to post in.

The Livery Editor has always been popular with a number of gamers, but with it being the third most Liked item on the Q&A board, I'm thinking PD is finally giving this some priority. They really should, because this is a huge and quite popular element in a number of other racing games, including a certain competitor, and is a key aspect in keeping gamers involved longer into the lifecycle of the game. Because PD seems to move in increments, I have a feeling that the livery situation will be the same.
Yeah, dreaming, but this is what I want. Well, the full Editor ASAP, but I'll take what I can get in the meantime.
- First we get the number plates and different number fonts in the 1.10 update.
- Then, numbers placed on windows, perhaps a Gran Turismo windshield banner for front and back.
- Stripes which can be colored and placed. Maybe national flags. More number plate options. More race suit and helmet options.
- Race Mod appears with a choice of a racing team from various leagues using that car, or basic livery templates, with a range of choices for each car. Driver names can be placed with small nation flags beside them, optional name text on windows. Sponsor decals will be made available and can be sized and placed. More number plate options. More customizable race suit options.
- Full Livery Editor finally with lots of vinyls, graphic effects like fading and transparency, a wide variety of coloring options including metallics, sponsor decals, tools for custom decals and number plate making, text fonts. Additional elements like decals made available for DLC.
