Will you wait in line for GT5?

I will pre-order it for the free extra stuff and walk in and get it on the day, I am not fond of midnight releases really but I will be picking it up first thing in the morning.

I am really glad they're going a world release this time as I don't know if I have the strength to wait for the local version if they didn't.

for some reason I don't appeal to ordering online. I've had a lot of problem with recieving car parts (mainly damage from trhowing boxes around I think, and leaving stuff at my neighbors house which he brings back to me thankgully) by shipping and i just don't know how bad they can mess up shipping a game. I just finished my associate degree this pass semester so I'm not sure where I'm heading yet with it, still editing my resume. And work as of now can kiss my ass, I have seniority and never let them down so I never really have problems whether I'm having a bad day or when i'm hung over. Nothing like making food during the usual 3 hour lunch rush with a hangover, now that's something I appeal too : )

I've got mine reserved at EB Games already, so I'm not worried about missing out on an early bird copy.;)

2 copies will be reserved (me and Peetsuh) at Gamestop soon. Midnight release, not in my Gamestop, unless it's Madden or an NBA game or Hacklo and on the CrapBox.

Just like GT5P, I won't get any sleep the night before, I'll just keep thinking about it all night while I lay there in bed. So, I may just stay up or pop 4 Tylenol PM's to knock me out. The store opens at 10am, UPS gets there about 9:30 - 9:45 for the Wednesday release, just like GT5P and MotorStorm when I pre-ordered. Games "ship" on topically Tuesday.

I'll get home and after studying the box art front and back, pop in the game. After a time to pick up my jaw from the floor and wipe the slobber from my chin, I'll sit in my Tony Stewart Playseat, grab that G25 leather wrapped wheel and embark on an epic journey!

If we can't transfer GT5P money and cars, I'll figure out what car to buy to get through the early stuff and get online and make some fast cash!

This is going to be a long summer!

It will be a mess. nobody will go to their work the next day lol.

Keep it down will ya! I don't want my boss to find out! :nervous:

Same here - and I've had Play deliver a day early before...

Order it from ShopTo.net and you will definitely get it a day early, they are famous for sending games a day before releas, all my mates use them, and they regularly get games a day before release. 👍

The other option is to get to Asda at midnight. My local store is pretty busy at that time of the night with long queues of pasty faced gamers looking to get the game early!

Have you read what that website says for the pre order of GT5?

shopto.net
If you pre-order "Gran Turismo 5" before 12pm on 30/12/2009 we will guarantee that you will receive it by the release date of 01/01/2010, if you do not receive it we will compensate you with £3.00 on your shopto account (Terms and Conditions apply).

I won't wait in line. I always buy online.
SHOPTO.NET FTW!
I don't want to physically go to the store and here in Italy console games are REALLY expensive.

gt5 pre-ordered 2 days ago

That Shopto.net price £32.95 includes shipping?? That would be too cheap? If thats true i will pre-order it right now!

Its free (at least for UK customers).

ShopTo
How much will my delivery cost?

ShopTo.Net offers free shipping and delivery on all products to uk customers!
International delivery is between £3.50 and £4.50 due the flucuation of currency but most often will be around £4.11. This does not apply to any purchase of hardware which is calculated on weight.

I don't see the point of waiting in line when at the latest you'll get it is the morning after at your door...

UK websites tend to send the game out two days beforehand to make sure it gets to your door on release day at the latest (ShopTo gives you £3 off your next order if it arrives later than release day :P) - i got The Orange Box a day early due to this sort of stuff :)

I think ShopTo, Play and Amazon all do it, anyone know any more? And does this happen with US websites or not? Seems a bigger deal over there about waiting in lines at midnight for stuff xD

I'll get it the day before its official release date as I do with every other game I buy. I'll then have to sit in an office all afternoon working the remaining 4 hours of my shift before a 45 minute commute home and then and only then will I be able to play the thing. That's going to be a very long day.

I always shop at Shopto, mainly because all of my pre-orders have come a day or two early. :)

Hey, do any of you guys know on ShopTo how that "recommend a friend" thing works?

Log into your account, go to the bottom of the Gran Turismo 5 page and it'll be there.

You get £1 put onto your account if the person you recommended it to uses that email address to buy it - of course it's not much, but it's still a free quid, so, if one of you wants it, you could recommend me GT5 ;)

I'll send you my email through PM if someone's interested.

shopto.net sounds like a good place and famous. Too bad I'm in the states and do not know much a similar site. I always preferred paying cash for anything though. And about the dying by then, that's a sensitive topic. Maybe even uncalled for. If we are all GT fans here, we are all probably car enthusiast as well. Everyone knows the risk of driving and we all probably know someone killed while driving, regardless of the cause of the accident. So lets not go there please.

I think having GT5 on a midnight release is a bad thing. I imagine people will bring their cars and race them. People will constantly walk in and out of the line when someone say stuff like, "HEY! WHOSE COBRA IS THIS? I WANT TO RACE!"

Then imagine some of the hardcore import and domestic fans getting into verbal arguments when someone starts s***-talking about particular brand or origin.

I rather reserve it, and stay home where it is safe. :)

@ snake900 - Okay, preordered, though i presume it won't give you the £1 until the item ships since you can cancel pre-orders.

01.01.09 eh? Anyone think ShopTo's correct? :D

I'll be starting work in a department store very soon, so hopefully that'll aide in me getting the game nice and early. My mum surprised me with the GT4/PS2 bundle as some stores down here were selling GT4 a day early down here, hopefully my work does the same for GT5! :sly:

On a side-note, I don't expect there to be a line up for Gran Turismo down here in Australia (I've never actually heard of any big line ups for a game down here). I think most Australian GT fans will be getting their full 8 hours sleep and the next day they'll stroll into the relatively empty store when they've got some spare time.

I think your right there, however given the hype surrounding GT5 i think it will be busier than it ever has in the shops with people wanting to get the game, but generally you can just stroll into a shop here and pick it up off the shelf.

Nobody answered the question about Amazon sending games a couple of days early so you can have them on the "day of release" or even a day early.

In my case, my mail does not arrive until after 2pm normally. UPS does not come until right around noon. GameStop opens at 10. Which means, I'll be playing GT5 for a good hour+ if I go to the store.
