Wondered why I kept getting blown-out!

For me, it depends on what I'm shooting for. Currently I'm enjoying cars in GT3 spec, and am finding as many as I can (currently about 15) that can be tuned and/or limited to that spec. No putting on clutches, flywheels, etc, and just light engine mods (if any) are necessary.

Next I'm looking at the Continental Tire Series or World Challenge, both of which are nowhere near max tunes for their car-types. CTS Street Tuner series is almost Showroom-Stock racing.

Then there are cars that I enjoy making iterations of. I've got probably 5 GT-R's, all with different stages of tune, all of which I enjoy on some level.

It's really a matter of taste. I'm quite contented to drive around in the bottom of the field if it's in a car I enjoy racing in. Plus, it's very gratifying to cruise smoothly by that maxed Veyron careening into the barricades in a car with 400+ less horsepower.

I don't like tuning cars. I really prefer to drive/race them as they are. To me you get a more natural normal feel of that particular car. Yet, it seems "everyone" races with suped up-max tuned cars. So that's what I did to a couple vehicles and finally became competitive. However, that's very disappointing.

What kind of racer are you? Stock or Tuned?
But the whole philosophy of Gran Turismo is to do that one very thing, tune.

The whole philosophy of GT is the pleasure of driving, not tuning. Otherwise, it'd be "The Tune of your life" and "The Real Tuning Experience".

I would say 50/50, but very few of my cars are tuned to the max. I tend to set them up for specific PP/HP/Wt levels to be competitive in online.

Offline, I had a blast on the Old Muscle Car challenge driving them with stock transmissions and 500-550 PP on Sports Hard/Soft tires. These were mildly tuned, but well set up cars. I also enjoyed the Lambo Challenge at 550PP.

Some cars REALLY need a little help. The Fireblade transmission comes to mind right away. Stock was crap, full custom was wonderful!

I have a veriety of cars, some i tune to the max but some i tune moderatley to suit me or for online racing. If i really love a car like my McLaren F1, i have one standard, one fully tuned and an LM spec one

I drive mostly stock in the A-spec but for online racing I need to tune them to be competitive.

The whole philosophy of GT is to provide a real driving simulation! If you want to drive around in a pleasurable manner, then by all means leave your cars stock. If you want to drive around on the edge of control to see how much you can get out of a car, then tune.

Both are right. Both are simulations of the way it would be in real driving.
To each his own.

Hello, my name is HaylRayzor, and I'm a Tunaholic...

I actually prefer street cars moderately tuned. I like 450PP for street car racing.

In gt4 I had every car, with every possible part. EVERY CAR, all tires, exhaust, turbos.

In gt5 I have every car. Most fully tuned. If I need less horsepower I'll tune it out.

Every one of the 30+ real life cars I've owned have been modified in some way.

I'm not a stock kinda guy.

It depends, I usually fully tune all of my cars except for TRUE race cars i.e. Ferrari 330 P4.

It just ruins the feel IMO.

I only tune if I must. Or minor things like racing suspension, customizable transmission and things, no weight loss or upgrades.

Stock. I regard tuning as a failure of my driving ability. Sadly I tune quite a lot these days!

Tuned racing is for me. Nothing better than beating a bunch of people driving Cusco Imprezas in a pink beetle RSI.

It is a game after all and I like to go as fast as possible. It also depends on how competent you are at high speed driving. There is alway the option of de tuning, ballast etc.
