World Tour Racing: 550pp Street Cars on Tue. Nights

diabolicwyvern, there are plenty of spots available and would be great if you joined us.

Shaggy, go right head.

ROME HERE WE COME!

dev, bob, sinister, skel, can i send ya'll friend requests?

Yes, sounds good to me. I'm always up for testing tunes out and doing time trials if any of you guys are on. Still trying to perfect my Jaguar, it might not be the fastest but it is really solid for a FR.👍

Whom do I need to send the friend request to? Would you like me to pick unique cars or is it okay for 1 cart to overlap with something already being used?

Skeletor: Thanks for the tune. Your approach of having a very light car with less HP clearly is different than my approach. My car is heavier and I can use more HP. I bought another Corvette and set it up to match your tune and then tried both on the GP/F and Rome courses. On last nights course I was 1 to 1.5 seconds faster with your setup but interestingly enough I was faster at Rome with my setup. Go figure. I now have two alternatives and that will be helpful down the road...Bob

BOB, that's interesting. I've experimented with adding some weight to balance the car out & had limited results. Maybe I'll re-visit that.

Shaggyjake, sorry to hear about your YLOD. I get yellow lighted about... once every 2-3 weeks. And that's been going on for about a year now.

Ylod has happened to me also. Take it apart. Remove thermal paste from 2 main chips, heat chips up with a heatgun, add new thermal paste and put it together. Keep it cooler!

An easy way to keep it "cooler", is to leave the bottom & top covers off, and put a fan in front of it!!

Hey I will send you a friend request. Glad you want to join the series. As far as cars go choose whatever you would like it is ok to have the same car as someone else. Just make sure your car meets the specs outlined in the OP mainly that it is not an LFA or M3 and that it has a rear spoiler from the GT Auto. Hope to see you on the track this week in Rome :)

Hey guys I think this week at Rome we will have a 38 lap race which will allow for some interesting tire choices and pit strategies. I am going to put it out there, so far my fastest lap times have been in the low 1:12s with the ISF.

Rome is one of my fav tracks, i'm probably gonna miss it too, seeing as how the thermal paste won't get here til wednesday....DAMN DAMN DAMN!

skely, i'm gonna try leaving the covers off if i can get it fixed

What tires are you practicing with?

Thermal compound can be purchased at best buy or ANY electronic store.
Also, by leaving the covers off speeds up YLOD repair for WHEN it happens again.

I was using mediums, but when I was in your lounge the other day I was able to bring that time down a little. I also was surprised that I was able to put down 1:08s in the Aston I was toying around with.

Hi, guys. Can't wait for the race at Rome. Was curious of how fast everyone was doing the previous race at the Nurburgring? I got the Jaguar down to about to 2 minutes flat.

That's about what I was doing on fresh mediums & tire wear turned on (does make a diifence). At Rome I'm around 1:09. flat, again with mediums & tire wear turned on.

Hey guys I posted earlier that we would do 38 laps this week. Is everyone cool with that or do you want to go a couple laps lower?

Man, I've had a stream of bad luck. I decided to spend a good amount of time yesterday to tuning the Alfa Romeo because I believe it's the fastest (just the hardest to control) and I got it down to a 1:08.2 on medium tires with little to no wheel spin. I was pretty happy with myself and I turned on my console to find out my tune never got saved. Argh. Will probably use the Jaguar tomorrow because I don't have enough time to tune it the way it was. Pretty depressing, but that car is very quick.

dev, I would be really happy with 1:08.2 at Rome. Did you have tire wear turned on? I know I'm about .3 - .5 seconds slower with it on. I did a few 1.08.5 laps in my '04 Z06, but the handling is a little sketchy, and the rear tires tend to wear faster then the fronts, thus progressively making the handling worse & worse until it's undrivable. I tighten it up a bit, and now the tires wear more evenly, more controllable for a longer race. But I sacrificed about half-second/lap.

I think it was Drex that brought up before not using the same car 3 times in a row. I'm not suggesting this be made a rule, but I think it's a reasonable idea and I will abide by it. Rule or not. I'll be running the corvette tonight.

Doing about 30 laps should keep us close to the time limit and given my tire wear should make for interesting tire strategies.

That was interesting. I tightened the car to get better tire wear and the setup was not very efficient or fast. That having been said I did not drive particularly well. On the first lap I missed the apex on the last turn and caused a big wreck. After that it was overdrive the car and play catch up. It was not a very good strategy. My poor car looked like it just finished a NASCAR race at Bristol. I like Italian food so maybe at Monza I will be able to stay on the track.
How do we get more players involved? The race is at a good time for eastern U.S. and Canada and the cars are a lot of fun to drive. Having a full compliment will make it more fun especially for us back markers.
I thought the number of laps added an interesting element to pit strategy.

That wasn't my best performance either. I think this is the 4th race in a row where I had the fastest practice lap time though (Should get points for that!). Then I couldn't get mediums to last 10 laps. My camaro gets way better tire milage and it's heavier and has smaller tires then the corvette. Can't figure that one out. The extra laps helped me out. I passed superbiker with less than 5 laps to go for 2nd.

BOB, I think the only way to get more people involved in this series is to turn it into another super GT league.

Hi Everyone, Can i have some details of next race and room number please. cheers

Hey would like to join the series? We have plenty of spots and all the info you need to know is in the first post. We will be racing at Monza this week. The time zone difference may be a challenge for you though. I think it is something like 2am your time when we race.

That was a great race! In the beginning of the race when I was running with Skeletor and Drex I was actually on softs when you two were on mediums. It was the only way I was able to keep up. That is pretty said, but I thought I would have at least taken 2nd with my pit strategy, but Skeletor you were very quick on those softs and before I knew it you closed the gap, so those extra laps hindered me. I was surprised though that I was able to make some good passes. I’m looking forward to our next race at Monza!

I know we do need more people in the series. I tried putting out threads about us needing some people to race, but got no responses. Invite some friends you have on-line and tell them about the thread on the forum. I did with some of my friends, but they are not able to on week nights.

hey guise, my ps3 is shot, so unless i can get a new board or a new system i won't be on for a while... good luck to everyone!

Hey guys on Tue the 20th I will be out of town. We can do 2 races one night to make up for this, or if someone else wants to host then I will just miss a race which is no big deal to me. Which do you prefer?

I like the idea of 2 races in 1 night. Can start a little earlier. Or just push everything back 1 week.
