An official Blancpain GT3 game is here. The way this game was conceived, it could have probably thrived with just the Gr. 3 content.

- There are some Official GT3 cars, VGT, PD Gr. 3.
- Additional cars being added, may have come by way of old and up to date GT3 models.
- Tracks have been added and Campaign Races.

No. Gran Turismo's strength has always been having a wide variety of cars and race categories to play with, all in one game. Going down the ACC route would've completely alienated GT's core playerbase. The initial reactions to GT Sport were bad enough with Group's 1, 3, 4, B and N all existing from the start. Imagine how bad it would've been if the car count was 50 or less!

50 or less cars with every track from the franchise? How about that?

Why would you limit a game in such a way?

A variety of cars is what I, personally, enjoy about most racing games...though I suppose my support of the f1 iterations contradicts that statement.

But still, I like the different kind of cars avaliable in GT Sport.

As you pointed out: F1, rally, NASCAR. Such games do exist.
Put aside bias(I prefer Gr. 4). Though GTS=GT7, it's not limiting a game if that's its focus. It was limited from the start and PD rectified that.

If this game were Gr. 3 only, maybe they'd be concentrating, differently, on various features or game play or the over all experience.

I can certainly live with just Gr. 3 in the game. It also means better balancing since they have less cars to worry about. And they could also dedicate more resources (both money and labor) into adding Gr. 3 cars in the game instead of a wide variety. Imagine the full GT3 Blancpain car roster, plus GT300, plus some GTEs, plus PD original cars in the game! But would I specifically ask for GTS to be a Gr. 3 only game? Hmm... I'd have to go with no. Gr. 4, 2, and 1 are really fun as well and the balance, while sometimes (most of the time) controversial, it's there. There's still a semblance of balance within the groups in this game. So I don't think it's worth it to exclude all other groups in favor of better balancing to a particular group.

I initially voted for undecided, but now that I think more about it, I have to go with no.

I could maybe live with Gr.class cars only but certainly not just Gr.3. A part of me would miss the career championship in lower class or X cars although I rarely choose to race the slower cars in Sports mode.

I actually bought the game primarily for the GT3 and LMP content, but it's the variety that makes it a Gran Turismo game so, if it were to focus on a single discipline, I would rather see it called something else.

I'm not quite on board with the assumption that less cars equals better / more features. A 3D artist who's currently tasked with modelling non-Gr.3 cars would not typically start working on features like dynamic weather and time of day just because he ran out of cars to model.

In other words, I don't understand why the inclusion of other classes precludes PD from adding a specific feature.

No.

I feel this game/franchise is at its best when there's a good variety on offer. The game already had much missing or heat from the change in direction initially, had they reduced it further to one class of race, I believe that would have further hampered this game's potential, possibly too much to save even if the base wasn't there for other classes etc. DLC might have been harder to add if the basics weren't there to build on. (Though I know little of the technical side of game making so could be way off, lol).

Would I have a problem with PD focusing only on Gr.3? Hell no, that’d be pretty awesome. Would I want them to do a Gr.3 only Gran Turismo? No as well. If they already had GT7 lined up so we could have a full on GT experience on next gen then GTS would have been a perfect spin-off for only race cars. But seeing that we have to wait until at least 2019 they balanced the game right.

I’m really looking forward to ACC next year btw (and I hope I have a good PC by then...) as GT3 cars are just perfect for racing.

Many people assume PD already have too much to deal with and should concentrate on tracks or weather or blue flames or clutches or penalties.

I mentioned before, putting how you feel about Gran turismo and want people want, would GT Sport be better as focused on one discipline?
Maybe that does allow for concentration on other factors.

What's the difference in PD deleting all other groups? In Campaign mode, does replacing Gr. 1 Endurance races with Gr. 3 cars, allow another part of the team to come up with more races?
Does having only Gr. 3 change the scope of major events like the Toyota sponsored event or the Asia/Oceania events?

What I'm getting at, are people's instinct to say, "because I want". I didn't initially buy GTS because it was online focused. Waited til March to buy it. Happy I did.
Same could be, if it were Gr3 only. Sure, we'll never know, because it is what it is now. However, if the game launched with Gr. 3 only, Campaign Mode, Arcade Mode. Maybe it'd be received better than at debut.

Gr.3 is a great series. Personally its my favourite however thats not enough content for a game. GT was always about the entire picture and so having other motorsport series makes it better. LMP, Super GT, we need DTM etc

Perfect example. Scrapping Gr.1 races in favour of Gr.3 races doesn't increase the total number of races. All it does is reduce variety.

Wouldn't have bought it personally if that was the case, that much I know :D
