Would you like more F1 cars in GT5P?

No to any open wheel, single seaters.

Gran Turismo is a road car/GT game. To me, every car in GT should have a road car equivalent, so stuff like the Bentley and the Pescarolos shouldn't even be there.

I second that motion...It`s about road cars not purpose built race cars.
Having a F1 car is fine as it`s a bit of a novelty. Let`s get some decent classic aussie road cars in GT5 👍

I second that motion.
I would much rather see some Aussie cars than more F1's

Back on topic...
But Id be happy with a Celebratory 2008 championship winning McLaren :)

Agreed - but it's even more pointless having just one. If we're going to have things like the F2007, at least give us one alternative but similar vehicle.

Yes, I'm sure Ferrari wouldn't object to having their Championship-winning car covered in Super Aguri livery, even if you ignore the fact that no two teams' cars even look the same.

+infinity number

If there are weather changes in GT5, we need an F1 that can ACTUALLY drive in the wet... :sly:

Then again, the McLaren would be more vulnerable to 5-second-penalties than the Ferrari

Would you like more F1 cars in GT5P?

Well Honestly not really, but as already said now we have one it will be a little pointless not a have atleast a few more.

for me they will put more in gt5 release...

like renault, bmw ecc. they have paid for brands and why not include more f1...

there will be many news in this gt5 i hope, like the rest of ferrari that they tried in fiorano... and for me there will be a fiorano track to....

I'm curious are those who are opposed to F1 cars also opposed to the rally cars and off roading too?

Yep mate ;)

Gran Turismo is not a F1 racing Sim nor a Rally racing sim. GT has very good car physics but sucks in Formula one as it does in Rally... Remember rallye in GT4... Miles away from the real world :sly:

I'd rather they stuck to cars that real people can either buy now or have been able to buy in the past from a dealership plus any race versions of these cars.

I fully respect anyone else's opinion if they want F1, Group C etc. though as the GT series is a game for anyone who loves cars in general.

heh i dont really mean it like that. more so like a generic f1 car that wouldnt really be related to all the real teams. more like gt4 i guess, with no real association to teams/manufacturers

For GT5, definate yes. The race cars are great fun in GT, and I hope to see many race series replicated in the full game. But for Prologue, I'm satisfied with just one.

Open wheelers fail. They aren't even cars. Just machines that drive insanely fast. Not Gran Turismo 'style' at all. The F1 Ferrari whatever its called is enough, no more please

I'm not that keen on the rally "tracks", but they are road legal cars, so yeah, put them in.

What's the difference between a "car" and an open wheeled car anyway? GT has had racecars since the first game. F1's fit in perfectly, especially since PD has never said anything to indicate that GT will only pertain to a certain type of car.

I don't understand the strong opposition to F1 cars, no-one has even suggested that there be more than a few extra cars. Some of you are reacting like PD would change the game into a ToCA clone.
Where were you all when they brought in the Le Mans-spec cars in GT2? The Formula GTs in GT3 and 4?

What I really don't get though is why some of you are suggesting that F1 cars are somehow inferior or akin to kit cars? I think the pinacle of motorsport should be represented in the real driving simulator just as much as any other racing series already is.
Maybe I should be asking, if open wheelers are not "proper" cars because they are specifically designed racing cars, then surely this would also mean Group C and LMP Le Mans racers should be excluded too, because these are also not proper cars by this definition.

I personally have always enjoyed the mix of standard stock vehicles and full race spec vehicles that have always been in Gran Turismo. Expanding both can only be a good thing in my opinion as long as it does not detract from the high quality physics and racing that the games have always used for the stock cars. I can't think of any other game that offers such massive lists of cars that include vast amounts of both types of cars, allowing me to drive such a huge variety of different styles of car - thus why I don't understand people's apparent revulsion to the series expanding the open wheel variety of racing cars. Yes, there are games tailored for these specific racing cars, but do they allow me to drive them in Gran Turismo-quality tracks? With Gran Turismo-quality physics? Against any type of car I choose?

Perhaps the reason people don't like the idea of more F1 cars is because it might mean PD doesn't focus as much on the stock car racing and such....but I think it has been discussed many times before that time and focus isn't really an issue, the issue is gaining licences to the cars.

Whatever, I find it baffling that people could be so far opposed to more variety.

That`s a fair call, some of the historical/classic(even modern classic) F1 cars could be included to make it worth having them in the game instead of just the one car. If not then just stick to road cars :sly:

If they included other makes from the current championship say Honda/Toyota would anyone actually ever use them? Especially online.

I think the majority of people would stick with Ferrari's and Mclaren's so they had a chance to win - it would be even worse than the GTR/GT fields we are used to seeing.

Historic F1 cars would be pretty fun to try though.

i agree with Ardius

I have no problem with more F1 cars(modern & old)
PD are the most realistic in cars physics(far better then F1 CE), you got a great feeling about the cars, and yes i would like to have some competition to the F2007(F2008), like the Mclaren, Renault , Toyota,...
I don't wanna have a starting grid with only Ferrari's...it will be much more fun to see
a Bmw, or a Red Bull car passing you instead of 10 Ferrari's, and i think the same for rally cars, wtcc, others; bring as much as possible in the game, and much more important is: bring the game out PD, this will help Sony with the sell of the PS3, and it will make a lot of people very happy!

And yes we need more F1 tracks like Silverstone, Spa, Interlagos,...

@ bicycleshorts

i think that with PP system they have they could arrange the races that every car is as competitive as the other, i don't mind if a Forca India pass me even if i'm driving a Ferrari.
that's why they got this very good PP system, this will make the races very intresting

I think reading the thread I'm in the minority, but quite honestly I'd love the opportunity to drive the R28, MP4-23 and even the STR3 in the GT5P world.

All the best

Does anyone ever use the Mercedes in GT5P? Or the Jaguar? Yes they do, maybe not as much as the "winning" cars, but they are driven by some people, even sometimes driven to a win.

Buts its really a non-issue with current F1 cars anyway, because barely 3 seconds seperate the teams. In an online environment, thats plenty enough to allow a pro driver with a Force India to wipe the floor of a lesser driver in a Ferrari.
With older F1 cars and seasons, yes, this would be an issue, because I doubt anyone would be willing to spend their millions on a Fondmetal or a Lola-Mastercard. But I don't think anyone is going to be asking for those anyway.

I'm all for F1 cars, in fact, I'm all for any type of car. I thought Gran Turismo was intended to be an automotive museum, if that's true then we should have examples of every (or at least most) type of automobile.

i would say Yes definetly for the older ones, 70's till to early 90's with well al the beautiful cars.(honda-mclaren) williams, renault, ferarri with their incredible v12!

i think open wheels can be very fun too, i surely enjoyed grand prix legends, but as far this thread goes and to be a little off topic i also hope for older GT cars like the early 911 bmw's etc(gt legends anyone? with gran turismo graphics:) )

We will see what PD gives us..

In my opinion the perfect game was: GT5 with F1 World Championsip as the last challenge of career mode. That´s will be amazing. And of course the classic F1 cars too. I know that is not possible because the licenses are too expensives but is only a wish:)

Sorry my english, bye.

That's what you said. But I deeply loved Chamonix, Cathedral Rocks or Citta Di Aria with Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution. Yes, rally part of game was always little bit worse than circuit races, but If they can do right the tarmac physics, they can perfect the gravel physics as well this time.

This is a good argument. However, would each formula 1 car from this season really offer that different an experience (driving-wise), at least enough to want drivers to use it?

To me, it just seems like a bit of a waste of a car, I'd much prefer something else than a Honda F1 car which I (and 95% of other people) would never drive. For it to work, you'd have to start out in one of the cars lower down the field and work your way up teams each season - but then we'd have a F1 game, not GT.
