how many of you wants rally in GT5? I can say, I dont! I think the rally in the previous games sucks! but maybe thats just me... :nervous:

anyway I think they should go back to GT1 and take the rally away. but I guess thats to late :( since both the GT5 (vision gt) trailers include rally :yuck: .

Now to the reasons of why i hate rally in the GT series so much:
1: It was just a road racing game from the beginning.
2: Just fantasy rally tracks.
3: In GT4 rally wasn't funny at all, just horrible.
4: There are other games for rally.
5: No dirt on the cars so far in the series.

I think GT5 would be a better and more complete racing game with just asphalt racing... what do you think?

I agree, they say KY is a perfectionist but the rally in GT has been crap so far. Even the cars in Richard Burns Rally appear to have grip and atleast games like RalliSport Challenge 2 feel like the car actually makes contact with the road.

I think it would be great if GT went back to its roots and concentrated on what made it great, not just whats fashionable and a good market cash in. I'd prefer 1 decent game instead of effectively several average ones.

The vision for Gran Turismo is to cover all the bases of motorsport and cars across time. That does include rally, so yes I'd like to see it. However I would like it at a better standard than in past GT games, in GT2 is was a gimmick almost, in GT3 is was arcadeish in GT4 it's more realistic but has that stupid 5 second penalty everytime the AI car hits you. The actual physics of the rallies wern't too bad, the grip levels were more realistic than in the past. It all could have been better but it was just that damn 5 second penalty that killed it.

It wasn't even the 5 second penalty that really killed it for me, but the unforgiving fact that you got the 5 second penalty but the AI didn't. The worst thing, if they rammed you pretty hard, you would probably lose control AND get a penalty, while the AI can just drive past you. It made me hate the rally in GT4. After I finished the horrible hard stages I never touched the rally again, and I don't even consider ever touching it again. And if it's just as horrible in GT5, I'll do the same thing.

Yeah that go under my skin too. I don't mind rallying in GT4 in the arcade mode without the penalty though, could be better but it's better than GT3's by far.

I agree that the 5 second penalty sucks.
In rally racing, it is just to easy to run into your opponent, and if rallying is left in GT5, they should just do timed trials like in real life.

I will say that racing on rally courses is no where mear as fun as racing on tarmac courses. I haven't played the rally mode in GT4 but I have played it in GT2 and GT3. It isn't bad but it certainly isn't good.

It would be nice to see more rally tracks, real and fantasy.

GT is lacking real-life rally tracks. If only it could use some of the tracks that the WRC cars race on. However I think, just like the formula 1 circuits, there is a licence thing behind it.

RALLY NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!

IF there'll be dmg in GT5 there wont be 5 sec penalty. The penalty itself will be the damage that u receive from hitting ur oppenent or wall :dopey:

Rally in GT4 sucks I agree. it's just so dumb that you cant even go off the track by 1 metre, car never gets grip, and rally tracks are usually not existant CIRCUITS, not A-B real rally tracks.

Rally yes. 👍

Eh, the invisible walls and 5 sec penaltys irked me too, but it didn't kill the game for me. It made me a very careful driver, admittedly more careful than it should have been, but them's the breaks gents.

And I thought the AI driver was invulnerable and penalty free too, but I noticed mine in one race lagging after colliding with me, and watching the replay, darn if he didn't get a penalty! Maybe it was a glitch, but it happened more than a couple of times.

Give me an opponent in Rally. I hate racing against a disembodied clock.

- Something that ISN'T rallycross (maybe a few point-to-point stages?).

- A few more tracks that don't actually retain the same shape (Green Forest, Smokey Mountain North and Smokey South all seemed to get amalgamated into Swiss Alps).

- More snow and wet tracks (only one wet track in GT4 and two snow circuits with a HUGE degree of difficulty between the them).

- If PD can't get the licences for current stages, then maybe go back to the Group B era with roads like the 80 km "Coast Road" along south-west Corsica. You know, from the times when ralying was designed for rallying, not for TV.

Me thinks if PD and the developers from the COlin Mcrae series teamed up, the rally portion of the game would be the best imaginable.

As for what i'd like to see: Semis, Dirtbikes, Pikes Peak, The Dakkar rally, Semis and Dirtbikes at Pikes Peak competing, The aforementioned also in the ENTIRE Dakkar rally.

That'd be fun! 👍

If PD and Codemasters teamed up you'd have the best damn racing game ever, Codemasters are pro's at damage and AI,while we don't know what PD can do with damamge, I have doubts over their AI skills. Codemasters also have the rallying pretty good, however their physics inracing games arn't as realistic as PD's created, Colin McCrae isn't that realistic. Fun, but not realistic, I'd rarther see Codemasters talens being usedin other areas. Ofcourse they will NEVER team up, but it's a nice thought.

if they wanna have some kind of rally in the series I think they should throw away the WRC cars!!! and put in rallycross cars and events (with real rallycross tracks) and the Pikes Peak hill climb race would be cool to! then with more pikes peak cars than just the Escudo... but WRC cars on fantasy tracks sucks!

I actually think the rallying can be enjoyable playing multi player with a mate, but the 5 sec penalty i actually thought was a good idea - then i found out when the AI car crashed into me i got the penalty!!!

I really like the asphalt rally courses they have but sometimes i found that the gravel courses got a bit annoying - the snow/ice courses were the root of my pain!!! i hated them! Theres really something wrong with the physics on the snow/ice courses!

Leave rallying in it. If there was no rallying that would mean no rally cars. No rally cars means no Escudo. No Escudo menas no horribly uncontrolable but fun turbo laggy cars.

That would also mean no Rally Photomode Competitions.

The Speed 12 isn't turbo laggy, it has no turbo and no option for a turbo.

There were rally cars in GT1 though :) or atleast the Impreza... They could still have some road rally courses as an excuse to have rally cars. Which personally I thought were the only decentish rally stages in GT4, except the Paris track which was just annoying.

Personally I could live without the escudo  especially with no suitable enviroment to race it in. I'd love to like the Speed 12 but it just seems to wheelspin like a biatch and understeers before spinning around several times :sly:

I like the rally tracks. Leave them in. If possible, add the Paris-Dakar and Pari-Madrid point to point races, plus Pikes Peak.

I think Pikes peak would be enough of rally in GT5 though... but that would be awesome. wow, it would really kick ass!!!

I had more fun with the rally in gt2 than gt4. If PD can get rid of the retarded 5 sec. penalty and focus on difining the handling, damage, and course development aspects of Rally in gt, then i say let it stay. If not, ill stick to colin mcrae, or ralli sport challenge 2(now that is what rally is about :dopey: ).

I wouldnt mind if they took it out. I only liked the grand canyon because of its GFX! Very nice! But it was a little difficult and the snow levels were just too much. It just wasnt fun anymore.
