WRC Livery thread.

My attempt at a 2001 Focus

As you can see on the bonnet, i managed to get the last 3 characters of Martini, but then gave up.

I think with the 2002 it will be easier to get the Martini logo as there are no strips to contend with.
I can’t really find a thin line decal to draw the letters, i’m having to using existing decals (the word decals) with the right letters, and font, then cover up the remaining letters, and then do it again.

Nice job there, yeah using an existing text logo then covering some up is a good way of doing it.

Here on the VW I used the POLOR decal and covered the R. And I used some existing text on the Rothmans on the side of the Ascona

Thanks

haha nice, i'm glad i'm thinking along your lines, it means i must be doing something right:lol:
Looking forward to finishing my 2002 Focus, as it think that one is going to be easier to recreate and should look almost perfect.

Have a bit more tweaking to do on the 2001

I really need to go back and finish the Stratos, it was one of the first ones I made
Im on ps5, i was looking at the customizations you unlock for your level, and it said it seems that you get liveries, but i only noticed decals for cars, not sure if whole liveries do unlock?

Not too many choices of base liveries, for many cars, there's no choice.
I guess I'll need try the livery editor too.

You can unlock liveries of sorts but they're only fictional and can only be used on certain cars, mainly the Rally 1 cars and you can't edit them. Your better off using the livery editor and see what you can do. The decals that are unlockable are fictional but a lot of people make some great liveries with them. I prefer to try and make an IRL livery from scratch and get as close as I can.

Bit of conundrum for you if you’re interested…in real life the 2002 Focus spoiler has a navy blue top, yet the underside of it is red.

To recreate this, i set the spoiler to red, and then put a navy blue square on it (via the roof menu). However, when adding a decal to the top of it, it also shows underneath (even the logo decals do this too), so the entire spoiler then ends up being navy blue… so annoying…

I don’t suppose you know of a way round it?
Otherwise my 2002 focus is just going to have to have a navy blue spoiler

Sadly not, for some reason there's some surfaces where anything placed on it will bleed through to the other side. The big culprit is the rear wing/spoiler but it happens on other parts as well like the front grille can suffer.

Although one thing I haven't tried is using two decals on the rear wing, maybe the second overlaid one won't bleed but I'm not confident

Ah okay, thanks.

Haha i actually tried adding another, and that bled underneath too 😂

Does the projection adjustment do anything in this scenario?
good shout. Initially i thought you have been onto something as i did manage to get a tiny bit of the decal to appear on the underside of the spoiler (and none of it on top). That gave me some hope, but i haven’t been able to get any further annoyingly. I hadn’t ever played with the projection function

Yeah I tried it aswell lol. It's weird cos I also tried it from the rear option and while you can overlay a shape over the background paint ( on the underside of the spoiler ) it doesn't cover up the decal applied from the 'roof' option
They don't make it easy

Ah okay, that may actually work for me as the only decal on the background spoiler paint is Telefonica Movistar. So i try adding a red square to the underside of the spoiler when i next log on. And that would at least let me have different colour on the underside

Edit: my bad, i’d actually already tried adding a decal to the rear, but it doesn’t go high enough to cover the underside of the spoiler (on the Focus at least).

2001 Focus now finished properly (photos 1-3).

Got a bit more work to do on the 2002, but nearly there (photos 4-8).
Sometimes the 2002 car had the Martini logo, other times it had Ford badges instead. So i nay make the Martini version too to see which looks better.

When i drove them they feel like an authentic livery, so i’m happy. Look far better on stage than in the Livery Editor screen.

Doubt i’ll make any more as most my favourite cars already have good authentic liveries (fave class is the 1997-2011).

Very nicely done mate

Thanks bro
I know i said i wouldn’t do any more… but i may do the 1999 Evo next
Finding it addictive. I bit like you guys from 18 months ago haha
Yeah I know what you mean, I went a bit nuts doing loads of liveries a while back and I should do some more I think. I've got a few in mind.
You'll definitely not just leave it as one lol
