Weren't we talking about this a while ago on the WRC 3 thread? They kept very quiet about the further development of this.

Whilst I'm still not that fussed by this game - it does now look quite a lot of fun, what with using the WRC 3 stages and power-ups too.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who plays it.

EDIT: I see that the powerups look a bit different, mostly weather or rally specific in nature - like causing a heavy dust cloud :) I think I like the persoanl raincloud one the most though...

I've been playing it on Xbox and think it's a brilliant little gem :)
It plays well, looks great and I love the damage model :)
I've not played online yet but happy with the single player for now.

So this did release on XBL in the US? I ask because the US PSN just updated and it's nowhere to be found. Would be rather dumb for the PSN to be EU-only. Looking that way though...

It comes on the 13th for the PSN.
It looks good, but I think the camera would annoy me after a while, especially in tight corners.

Camera works really well, I've not had an issue where it's badly angled :)
Had a few races online and it was rock solid :)

Okay then, sounds like I'm in too...once my ISP gets that durn noise on the exchange squelched so I can log into PSN!

Tried the demo this morning but sadly couldn't purchase the full game because I was 50 Microsoft points short, that will soon be fixed. At first I struggled with the camera but once I completed the first 2 stages it felt more natural, from what I tried I am very impressed with it, there are even leaderboards for each stage which for me adds a lot more potential playing time.

Only one minor problem is when in the menus sometimes you can press A (X for PS3) and the game will make the sound to recognise you pressed it but sometimes will have to press it again for it to do something.

I think this will be another game which I'll just use to keep me going till Grid 2.

Except for that small little part where the 13th is a Wednesday and the US PSN updates every Tuesday...

Maybe I'll see it next week. Doubt it.

I'm playing it right now. It's like micro-machines V3 for PS-one but a little bit harder. I don't like it it's just arcade simple game, so much bashing and blind corners. It's hard to control with DS3 or maybe i am not used to this kind of steering.

Well I've tried and deleted, not buying it 👎

Enjoying this but power ups are a definite turn off, they suck and ruin the game imo, thing is turning them off also turns off the collisions which also ruins it. Sort it out milestone!

Oh and hate using L3 to steer, why can't I change to D-Pad!!!!

Great little game tho :D

It is an arcade game that has been designed as something fun to do, hence the power-ups. Without those and just simple arcade physics, there would be no point in playing the game really.

Try WRC 3 if you want something more serious and playable.

What?

How is it fun when your out in front and most of the power ups are useless as the don't effect the cars behind, yet you get stung on everyone.

Getting hit hailstorm after hailstorm until you grind to a halt with less than 10% of the race to go and going from 1st to last is not fun.

Just cause its a arcade game doesn't mean it has to have power ups to be fun.

I've been progressing through the game with the collisions and power ups turned on and then going back to some stages to try and get a good run with the collisions and power ups turned off, that way I end up having more fun because I don't have to deal with the AI while trying to get good times. I'm actually finding it harder to get a good run with these arcade physics then I usually do with more simulation-like physics.

I've noticed that the AI tend to call in their hailstorms straight away without giving you a chance to activate the shield power up if you have it, the horn you can easily tell when it's coming and the lightning I think it gives you a very small warning where the car using it will flash on the HUD for about 2 seconds before it comes.

Slightly off-topic but does anyone know how many stages per rally there is on WRC 3? I was going to get it when it first released but never got round to it because I was too interested in other games.

You didn't say that in your first post - that makes it clearer now :sly:

Judging by the promotion trailer, that's meant to happen so they can catch up with you and make it tigher towards the end - though I could be wrong in this, it's just the way it looks to me.

Mostly between six and seven though there are one or two with five I think, pretty much all have a good length to them too.

No problem!, I just feel they add nothing to the game, micro machines didn't have power up! ;)

Anyway, anybody else on PS3 having issues with no trophies?

True, they aren't needed to have fun - I suppose it's just the direction they chose to go with.

If there are any issues, they do tend to patch it - might take a little while, but it will come.

Thanks, that sounds good and I can easily find this game new for £20, I'll pick it up sometime soon. I had enough fun just playing the demo for that game and that was only a few stages so this should be good.

On WRC Powerslide I'm onto the French Rally and have been completing each stage of each rally with each class, I've found the S2000 class (Group 2) to be easiest to win with. Still haven't played any online games yet so will see how that is later.

Yeah mate, it just feels very unbalanced, I think they have 6 power ups but in SP only 1 maybe 2 seem worthwhile, maybe in MP they would be more useful.

Also strange that you can't have collisions on without power ups, anyway maybe something they can add in with a patch to fix the trophies issue.

I've just started the German one, and so far SS1 seems the easiest track so far.

Also I find the WRC the easiest cars to race, Group N are the hardest!

Thanks, didn't realise there were that many rallies either, I don't really follow the WRC so thought it was just the same as WRC Powerslide with more stages, only one I noticed was Sweden so I just assumed they'd stopped Rally Sweden. Ordered the game from the internet yesterday.

Have now completed WRC Powerslide to 100%, my favourite stage has to be either Mexico SS2 or Wales SS1. Favourite car is probably the Skoda Fabia S2000.
