WRC tracks

Imo we are not going to have official rallies. Just cars and drivers. In the e3 trailer we saw Tuscany rally ( not official wrc event)

So did any body even go try to even check out the "Rally toscana" ?

heres some food for thought,Or in this case pure speculation, it even says rally toscana 2009.

hmmmm...

Just for info: Forza will have at least one point-to-point (cut in several stages) 19km tarmac rally road... ;)

Hope the same for GT... WRC rally without the point2point stages is not really rallying...

hmmmm...

yes but it's not in wrc, and it's on tarmac while in the e3 trailer is on gravel.

ore than 1/3 of WRC Events are tarmac only
True. it's not just about dirt. any point to point would be welcomed, Hell, there were point to points in GT2. infact GT2 had some of the best rally track's that got killed off.

Untrue. This season only 2/12 rounds (1/6) were tarmac, and one was a mixed event (Cyprus - with tarmac stages run on gravel tyres).
There is also traditionally one snow/ice event.

Last year it was 4/15. It never gets to 1/3 (thankfully).

Now with proper rally racing, then we're talking about a proper track editor. Still, any hope of a track editor will have to be with autocross. I'm sorry... I don't see a track editor outside of autocross. I just don't.

You have an awesome voice, you should to film trailers...

Thatll fix your firefox right up...

Well said up here.

And think about it for just a second...

Fact: GT5 is the official WRC game

Then wouldn't it be silly if the official WRC game doesn't include a co driver with pace notes and no point to point races?

And if you look again at the platform scene you can see that not only do we see a citroen standing on a platform,
we also see(and hear) it taking off.
Then a focus drives up the platform.

Ok, so maybe it's not a conclusion but from what they show in the trailer you can be almost certain that it will be included.

Man, I really to hope that GT get it right and include special stages (point-to-point) events. Otherwise it would be a waste of the official WRC licence, and PD will be a joke.

Even if it was just 5 Special Stages per country would be satisfactory.

Just to reiterate this for you peeps, i think in the championship mode in WRC 4 there were 230 stages.16 events altogether ( Monte C, Sweden, Mexico, New Zealand, Cyprus, Acropolis Rally, Turkey, Argentina, Finland, OMV ADAC Rally Deutschland, Japan, Wales GB, Italy, France, Catalunya & Australia. The figure of 96 tracks i assume is the amount of p2p stages in the WRC time trial right, that tallies up correct with WRC 4.Dont know how hard it would be to include all official stages from the champ mode, but i hope they come up trumps.

There are no official stages in WRC or any other rally games, all of them are simply representative of the main unique elements of each rally event - surface, vegetation, light, weather, elevation.

Quite aside from the fact that most rallies are run in boring and faceless locations that would not dazzle gamers eyes, stages can often be an hour long which is way too lengthy and dull to represent in games.

GT5 will do what they have done before on rally, a number of tracks all showing radically different visual locations and the authentic licensed cars. And they'll very likely be looped because PD's world building technology is about having small world footprints realised with the very highest level of detail within. Open world point to point stages is a whole different tec.

The cars, drivers & tracks etc are all licenced by the FIA, i don't know if the tracks and names are a copy from real life but why wouldn't they be.

Nothing wrong with a 1 hour rally stage, that would be good. If they can include things like 500 lap endurance races then why shorten the rally down to lots of 3-4 minute sections.

They're not, for exactly the reasons I posted above.

A 500 lap endurance race is lap after lap of the same track built in a self contained small world footprint. A 1 hour point to point rally stage would involve an absolutely enormous world size which would never fit in memory unless the textures were down to PS1 or 2 levels. Which is never going to happen.

And again, aside from the technical issues, you would find it boring as hell as you could never learn it.

The idea was there because the game wasn't made by PD ( Evolution Studios ), and isn't named GT Rally :).The 3-4 stages were odd i agree, i think they must of wanted the games to be accessible to anyone. That would be brilliant to reach different locations, go to the maintenance area, get all car data & fix the faults Could do all this between racing. This will really hone your driving skills, especially if during weather changes ( snow to ice to mud & rain could aqua plane across huge puddles :nervous: ).

The WRC licensed games from Evolution features totally fictional tracks with the exception of a few of the SS Stages. They had no more than 6 stages per rally because anymore would be dull.

Even were you to want to feature real life rally stages then WRC could not licence them anyway, they are not privately owned tracks like Laguna or Silverstone, they are run on public roads.
