I know little about the WRC and the US's own version with the SCCA, but while the the WRC is top level there are two things that can be said about the SCCA one. Supposedly you have to drive the courses the first time through without having gone and done a recce or whatever it's called, and there are what appear to be rearwheel drivers in it, though i'm not sure about that. I know rear drive is not the best, but i can't be the only one that's wanted to take a camaro to a rally course in gt3, can i?

I don't know much about the US Rally scene - I know there's some talk of the WRC getting into a rally down south somewhere.

From what I've seen the top runners appear to running ex WRC machinery - group A Subarus and Lancers, that sort of stuff.

I think from what I saw there's a number of different classes, and there is a section for rear drivers (hey, we can talk - there was a Falcon ute running in the Australian series!).

I'd be interested to see if anyone of our US correspondents know anything more...

Who's that?

Dave Richards is the guy who runs Prodrive (ie. the Subaru WRC team, and now own Tickford (as in Tickford Racing Falcon).

He bought the WRC commercial rights from the FIA last year, so he's basically the Bernie Ecclestone of WRC.

He has a long term plan to promote the WRC and boost its viewing audience, and part of that plan includes the US, and a certain Sony manufactured games console.
