I got into the gold but it was not fun. I was finding it really hard to get comfortable in my chair because I don't usually play in the afternoon and my back was sore. My left arm was also giving me a lot of **** so that didn't help. I'll park it for now and play Forza Horizon today because that's not as intensive.

As much as I love the IONIQ, the Nurburgring Sprint TT wasn't fun because my blood boils always whenever Sports tires are used. More than utilizing the car's peak performance, we need to only focus on keeping the tires from sliding & not losing grip. Personally, don't think Sports tires should be a prerequisite for any TT.

Anyway, managed to get in the Silver category & I just drove this TT twice because of its Sports tire choice. The Alsace TT when compared to the Nurburgring TT is like comparing night & day.

Hey folks,

yet another update from me. I‘ve been doing quite a few more sessions these past couple of weeks than before. Like @P-Courty, I feel a fresh wave of motivation, fueled in part by the realization that, amazingly, I can still improve. The Ioniq will (if nothing outrageous happens) be my 4th top 100 placement, and three of them happened since last December. The prospect of registering on that first page and scoring an 👽 badge is still absolutely exhilarating. When I started this journey not even two years ago, never in my wildest dreams would I have believed I was capable of this kind of performance, but this place made it happen. Never change, TT community!

Just over 1 year ago Jan 2024 the competition became real when I was using you as my target at the Nurb, and again you are my target on the very same track but with unbelievable improvements in placings (back then was 2680 and 3227, 54 and 55 on the GTP board 😯).

You have improved so much and are one of the main reasons I push so much knowing we have finished so close so many times, but you are becoming beyond my reach now 😅

The race was just over a year ago and nearly 700 pages ago on this thread 😯
I spent too much time with that annoying RX8 today so will give the Civic a go next weekend.

@crome hope you like the livery 😜 told you I would chase your ghost... 2:23.207

:D OMG, can't tell if I should laugh, be outraged or feel honoured - or all of the above. Congrats in any case, you won that battle! See you at the Lago ...
Thank you for being competitive.

That also goes for everyone else on here...

The aliens that I have no chance of catching but always giving support, helpful tips and that encouragement to keep pushing.

And also @Barareklam for being my motion steering buddy creating a second challenge to keep up with throughout each TT.

This place is amazing.

Another stint in the Porsche yesterday. Improved (back in the gold) to a 1.55.4xx
Optimal is 1.54.844 so I may be seduced to put some more work in this one. I can improve S1 around 2/10ths, but then I screw up S2 or S3. S2 I got a possible improvement of 4/10ths but mostly after I already flunk T1 🥲
Positives: I got some time left on this one 😁

Haha, how could I forget the cromebuster 🤣

But don't sell yourself short in terms of improvements, your trajectory also knows only one direction, and that's down ... or up, depending on how you look at it :D

S2 might seem tricky to nail because of medium & fast corners but S3 imo seems the hardest of the 3 sectors because of the slow corners where we not only need to nail the braking but also get a good exit out of the turns.

I love the flowing nature + the car on RH tires which makes it a fun drive even if trying for an hour or so. You'll need to recollect which of the 3 sectors You can master & which will take patience to ace.

Usually I just copy the assists recommended on here, but over the last couple of days I've been experimenting to find out what actually improves my optimal at Alsace. It's dawned in me now, that you if you want to optimise your own time you really need to set the assists to suit your own driving style, not just copy and paste. I'm sure you guys knew this already 👍

Anyway, by going from ABS default to weak gives me 2 tenths, TCS2 to TCS1 maybe another 1 tenth. Also tweaked the brake maximum input from 73% to 87% (G923), another 2 tenths. Will try 100% next, since it appears I may be a bit heavy on the pedal.

Making better use of the width of the track has improved my optimal by another 2 tenths. Will try TCS0 again, but I think I'm pretty much at my limit now - by far and away my best position to date at 1.72% off WR. Absolutely love this car and track, so will likely continue to have a little run out every day.

What does number on left hand side represents, 10, 20, 30.... probably obvious and I am not fully focus.... so I wonder..

Honestly S3 I can be pretty consistent, each lap within .15s
S1 is usually the make or break of the lap 😛

Yeah, definitely. Your S1 is easily gold material, but then you leave a lot of time on the table in S2. Try to take that left turn before the one minute mark closer to the inside curb, then accelerate out early in 4th to avoid wheel spin. Compare with how I take that turn (not my idea of course, I'm just trying to copy the WR ghost I am following as best as I can). That alone is probably 4 to 5 tenths I would guess.

Thanks for the tip, I used it in my new best lap.

I've cut my PB for 0.400 and now is 1:56.271

Here is video, direct capture:

I wasn't that good in S1, as I usually am, but did much better S2 and good S3.
In S3, I know I'm losing in uphill left-hander (about 1:31)

I know I can better, but will it be enough for gold?

Glad I could help. You’re getting there, S3 is now indeed the culprit. You can pull a similar trick as in that S2 corner in other segments of the track. Watch my replay or better yet one of the top times. They almost always use one gear higher on corner exit than you do for added stability. As @Dan_Tes mentioned, 4th is the best gear for that uphill left turn in S3, even if it feels wrong. You have to carry enough speed into the corner though. Best of luck!
