I think many cars just get engulfed so quickly & owners get lost in the moment.

This. The heat from a car engine that's caught on fire gets unbearable very quickly, and I imagine the majority of people would either not know how to properly extinguish it and just spray all over the hood/engine cover to no effect, or would do something incredibly foolish like trying to open the hood and end up seriously injuring themselves.

Besides, if you have the money to own cars like these, then you have the money to get them rebuilt.

A sad sight to behold:

The Motorcycle Museum located on the Timmelsjoch mountain pass on the border of Italy and Austria has burned to the ground yesterday. More than 230 vintage and racing motorcycles were exhibited. Looking through the pictures on google maps there might be some cars lost to the flames.

I know that section of road well. Someone's been trying out the tunnel's acoustics and binned it. It's a gradual curve rather than a straight and often a bit damp. To or from a track day at Anglesey circuit, or a go on the Evo Triangle i would guess.
